My wife and I recently completed our Day Skipper’s ticket here and it was an unforgettable experience and amazing journey. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, guiding us every step of the way. Whether you're a novice (like we were) or looking to advance your sailing skills, this academy is the place to be. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-notch sailing education in Durban! I highly recommend Werner and Mark as instructors. I have done my Yacht Hand Certification, my Day Skippers Certification and my Coastal Masters Certificates with them. Both are highly professional, helpful, knowledgeable and competent as instructors. I am looking forward to doing my Off Shore Master's with them.

All in all it was an a truly amazing experience coming from a son of a former springbok sailor, Jon Hawkins, my experience with sailing was very limited as I did not take to it as well as my brother, however having said that I would like to thank Mark & Werner for guiding me through the whole process, it was sound and to the point where you could actually understand the instructions that were given which is what sailing is all about, not only the skipper but that of the whole team in board, from crew matwe to instructor, and not to forget to mention how enjoyable the experience of having had someone actually being sea sick on you, you have no where to run in time to avoid the unintentional mishap. Sailing with Mark & Werner was a privilege in itself whereby you could express yourself freely and to gain the experience needed to complete the course within the alloted amount of days. Having got a pass mark of 77% was the cherry on the top as I have never gained anything as high as that throughout my years of education in South Africa. My fondest memory will be that of Werner when he introduced himself with "there are no ropes on board" as he proceeded to drop them into the cockpit of yacht Stardust which was our vessel that would guide us through the course. To Mark & Werner, I would like to end off by saying that I will truly recommend Sailing South Africa - Durban to anyone wishing to advance their sailing in whatever way shape or form. From the bottom of my heart a very well run thorough course, keep up the good work & may your endevours for the academy bring fruit towards your sailor's cry!
