Reviews of The Raj
We are vegetarians and ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and Paneer Makhani. Food was tasty. Service was satisfactory - the waiter lacked friendliness.
The biggest complaint I have is the exorbitant price of the meals and the lesser quantity if rice served. We've supported this restaurant for over 15 years, and we've noticed the price escalate astronomically.
I do understand that businesses in the hospitality industry must survive. I do NOT agree with exploitation of the locals (like ourselves), having to pay tourist prices. As locals who know about the price of Indian cuisine, I feel The Raj needs to come up with a plan to include the locals' affordability.
Absolutely great North Indian dishes, very well worth it and enjoyed our time here, the only put off were the toilet conditions which would have made this a 5 star rating. The food portions and taste were just right, we had about 8 people on our table and we all selected something different to taste one another's. By the time time we were done we were so stuffed. The food is really delicious and I can not stress that enough. From lamb to seafood, everything was devine.
Really enjoyed this Indian restaurant. Great food. Starting with the samosas, which were crunchy and came with lime and tamarind sauce.
Garlic Naan is where it's at. Big portion, a tad oily, but delicious. We got two types of curry and the spinach paneer. Look out for the pricing on sparkling water, because it will cost you almost double what a simple basmati rice will.
Portions look small, but are appropriate, probably a good idea to order rice, Naan or a biryani on the side. Curry is fantastic and well made. Coconut, coriander, bay leaves and probably ten other spices in these dishes!
Each dish was bursting with flavor and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The butter chicken was out of this world, and the naan bread was perfectly cooked. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations. We left feeling fully satisfied and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend this Indian cuisine gem!
My family and I had supper at the raj camps bay . we really enjoyed the food.it was delicious. The service was absolutely awesome.well done to the manager Nobel and his team for the awesome experience.will definitely be back for more.
Kingklip tandoori was delightful. Nann wad lovely. Tandoori chi Ken was
Wonderful place a must to go and dine at as well as amazing staff and facilities...
Delicious prawn curry and laccha paratha. Stellenbrau beer on tap. Great views. Good service.
We've been here a few times over the years and service and food was always up to standard, however on our last recent visit we received poor service all round. The whole place lacked that warm welcoming atmosphere, we had to constantly call on our waitress who we honestly thought could have smiled more. For the amount of money spent we were refused a glass of tap water for a small child and told that the instructions came from management and they not allowed to give water to customers. Fix your attitude and service. No wonder the place was so empty
Pretty good food and the service was good. Would visit again when in Camps Bay and loved the Game choices of meals.
Excellent place with good Indian food with fantastic tatste , visited twice in my small trip in cape town, I would say big thanks to my friend Elsebe for taking us to this hotel. Must visit...🙂
Don't expect typical Indian Restaurant décor here, this restaurant has been influenced by rubbing shoulders with trendy Camps Bay eateries along side. I think that the portions are on the small side, apart from the huge, and delicious naans. But the flavours are fabulous. Well worth a visit if you don't mind paying a little over the odds, especially for a glass of wine.
Beautiful restaurant, nice view and tranquility I am disappointed though with their drinks menu, after 2 rounds of double shot of tanqueray they ran out of stock😒 and we were told nothing can be done. The food though is out of this world, butter chicken is the best. They even specially made naan bread that was not on the menu for us.
Excellent food. Friendly professional staff. Awesome night out
Fancy-ish indian restaurant. (Similar price to an average Indian restaurant in Europe.) The portions are slightly small, but very good. Not the best indian food I've eaten , but still very good. The place was kinda expensive for my taste, but there aren't that many restaurants with beach view nearby, so I quess they charge a bit more because they can.
The waiter was very kind and sophisticated. His service was excellent so to say.
For those traveling on a budget: Just eat somewhere else.
For others: Good Indian food and excellent service, but may not be enough to get you full.
We checked reviews and almost didn't go, but wanted Indian. Well, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Entire evening was spot on, definately a great place if you feel like Indian
Delicious food! Our waiter really helped with choosing a meal and could give good advice on flavors. Lovely warm setting
Outstanding service from Abdul. He is very attentive and has a good sense of humor. He makes you feel comfortable and has a lot of patience. Outstanding food and view.
Its mediocre to decent indian fresh ingrediants but flavor is only barely adequate and nan and rice just average to below average. Much better indian food at bukhara. If you are in the mood for great indian its worth the drive to waterfront.
If you don't choose the mild option, it's more spicy than you think. Great for people who love spice. Premium ingredients, premium dishes. Premium experience.
Just opposite to camps bay beach have same menu as in Indian chapter but quality can be improved service is best costs are bit high
Food and service was ok but not great
they should offer more to the customer maybe samoosas or springriolls
the prawns was delicious
The food was fantastic and the young lady who served us was so sweet and could not do enough for us but there was an Indian waiter who was very rude and very un friendly
Absolutely delightful experience. Food was great, location was amazing, and the service was top notch!

A bit on the pricey end but to be expected given the restaurant's location. They serve some really good Indian food.

Amazing Indian cuisine 👌🏼
The food is very delicious, I loved the biryani and butter chicken 😍 Everything I tried from them was delicious 🤍
In all honesty, it is a very delicious restaurant, the prices are reasonable and acceptable, the service is outstanding, and the food arrived very hot.
Honestly, the restaurant is very excellent. I hope you try the biryani rice with chicken. There is an employee named Takudzwa who is very respectable.
The food is good, but the quantity is small compared to the prices
It's delicious to eat them once and the place is beautiful at sunset
