We were a group of 4, celebrating a significant birthday. Rick’s Café Americain totally came up trumps !! The food, service, ambiance absolutely smashed it. Will definitely go there, again !! The only niggle about the venue, is that they do not allow BYO., because they have a large wine list. However, I felt that the wine was on the pricey side !!

Food was good, place was decorated nicely and the staff was very friendly. I would recommend the steak! Nevertheless I won’t return to this restaurant. The way the (blond older lady) owner/manager treats her staff is ridiculous. Show your staff some decency and don’t talk to people with an imperative tone. If you were anywhere out of South Africa you would run out of business in no time.

Amazing atmosphere!! My favorite place to go for amazing cocktails and delicious food. I had one incident where a waiter immediately dismissed us when he realised we were only having cocktails and then proceeded to completely ignore us for the rest of our visit - serving people directly around us when my partner's glass had been empty for about ten minutes. Definitely don't want to be served by him again but otherwise I have only had positive experiences!!

Welcoming and inviting .. friendly greeting by front of house. Made our way up to the top deck for a drink and had the most engaging waiter chatting to us and sharing the history of the place. Plenty of seating with lounges and tables where you can relax with a vibey atmosphere … As we got cold we were invited to sit downstairs by the fireplace and ordered our food. We enjoyed some wine and chatted till our food came.. we didn’t mind the wait as we knew it’s because they were cooking for us not dishing pre-made food.. Hubby went for the burger and I chose the line fish with lemon butter and grilled veg with salad. Both were really good. Overall we had a great outing and will certainly be back.

My rating keeps going up every time I go here. There's the bar inside which looks awesome to chill in on a cold night. Ditto 1st floor, which is great for a dining party, and has a balcony as well. And there's the rooftop, with a chill lounge vibe with sofas and high tables, with a decent view. The he service is good, and the drinks menu is extensive. The food menu is varied, with a decent snack menu.

Love the new spot. It's really a beautiful setting with so much character. We were served by Rudy and he was so efficient and on top of things. Drinks came quite fast, food was a hit slow, but so worth the wait. Was delicious and really good portion sizes. Was so hungry and because it looked and tasted so good, forgot to take any pics to show you. Great selection of food and drinks. Definitely going to be high on my list of summer hangouts.

Portions were massive definitely value for money. I'm not a big beer drinker but I tried Black Jack, OH MY WORD! Amazing!!! We loved the atmosphere. Small hint, book first before going. Plan accordingly. Parking can be limited...this was my review 4 years ago, fast forward to Our Anniversary lunch, 28 Jan 2022. They have moved premises, in Kloof Street now. Same advice applies, book beforehand, try to arrive earlier than your booking, to get decent parking. We had Mojito Mocktails while we waited for the kitchen to open at 12h00 for lunch orders. Hubby had the Popper Beef Burger, medium, and I had the Moroccan Baked fish filet. Both our dishes were ....ok. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being fantastic food, both our dishes were a 3. Food was ok to bland, not what we were expecting, for the price paid.

Can't go wrong here! If you after a good night out with chilled vibes, a good mezze platter, washed down with a good red wine and add some sparkling water, to make a refreshing spritzer - make a turn, you'll love it!

Great for the cold days! The bar has 2 fireplaces to keep you warm. Also a great spot for the smokers, pretty much everywhere in bar is allowed to smoke. The burgers are a great call if you are hungry, I also had a goulash soup before and it was exceptional! Good beer and wine selection and great cocktails. The decoration is classic and vintage with a morrocan touch. Good music and overall ambiance.

We had our 1st time at Rick's last night and we were blown away. I had some people from the UK here for a work trip and everyone absolutely loved the atmosphere and service. The food is something incredible and this will definitely be the first of many trips to Rick's.

We returned to Rick's after 8 years. The New building is beautiful, the warm fire place on a cold and rainy day is wonderful. The staff has been absolutely fantastic, great service with a smile and so much friendliness. The food was superb, we tried entrees, main meals and desserts. We were impressed that the plates were heated to keep the food longer warm. Thank you for a great experience.

We were immediately taken in by the atmosphere and the welcoming as you step inside. We had a lovely seating as Jolene promised by the fireplace and then we had such a good soul for our waiter. JP you made our evening. You are such a special person. Every waiter there are very gracious and kind mannered. No fault could be found with our food. Every bite was delicious. Quick service. Great atmosphere and old world Moroccon decor are very charming. Truly a lovely evening.

This would be an excellent place for a date, with the fire place setting a lovely ambience. The food was really good and hearty, I tried the lentil tagine which were a bit spicy and slightly tangy ans made a hearty meal. The hot chocolate stole the show, served with a slab of chocolate and hot foamy milk. I couldn't resist chomping down on a few pieces before mixing the rest into the hot milk

Always an outstanding night on the town. The food is something to write home about. I had the mussels and they were not shy... A heaped bowl of them arrived at the table and I was genuinely delighted at the unique Moroccan flavours that burst from the dish. 100% reccomend!!

Food was good, however, service was a tad bit on the slow side. Thankfully our small little party kept each other entertained while waited for our drinks or food. The rooftop terrace is great place to chill for the afternoon. All in all, I won't mind returning when the opportunity presents itself.

However, I would suggest you make a reservation if you thinking of going, when I was there a lot of the tables were reserved. Nevertheless, I would definitely come back...

Stunning interior design with a unique twist. The tiles and aesthetic are very Moroccan inspired. Very creative and delicious cocktails list with all the classics. Fully stocked bar with anything you could want. Drinks were definitely not cheap with the liquor with a generous pour and well balanced flavours. Pro tip: Make a booking to guarantee your spot on the upstairs patio. Worth a drop by for a quick drink or for a fun night out with the girls.

From street-level you might be fooled to think that this jewel is limited to inside only - that is until you climb the flights of stairs to the rooftop dining area to be suprised by a most awesome view of the surrounds and iconic Table Mountain. The menu is quite extensive in both food and beverages, with for someone like me a proper range of non-alcoholics and virgin offerings. Fantastic. The service is as efficient as can be, considering the amount of stairs from the kitchen (poor service staff, shame - at least they get proper exercise). I will return here, for sure.

Great place to spend a late summer Saturday night on the balcony, sipping on some wine and enjoying food. I can't judge the food as I only had a few starters and those were good. I come here for the ambience, the loft is simply beautiful and I like to lounge on the couches or on the balcony. I can definitely advise you against their cocktails, those are not something you'll enjoy (way too weak and clearly made by someone who has no business making cocktails). Service is generally quite slow but I come here to hang out and enjoy the company of friends so that is not a deterrent.

stunning place. we walked past and while reading the menu the supervisor/manager? told us to just come inside because its all good so we did. ordered the Brie burger and the ribeye. By far the most outstanding service I’ve ever received from any restaurant throughout the world! We had JP as our waiter. Taking orders and serving the eldest lady first to the youngest male last. Immaculate etiquette. Food was very genourous and tasty. And when there was something wrong they were very apologetic and replaced it in no time. Our table of 11 had not a single complaint. Will definitely be back.

Finally reopened in their awesome new location on Kloof St. Nice decor in krepong with the theme. Friendly staff, awesome outdoor balcony and soon to be rooftop deck. Stopped by for a quick drink to enjoy the sun. Will definitely be back to try the food. Still not the cheapest spot, but the menu offers a nice variety that is different from the usual Cape Town offerings.

Everybody knows at Cheers everybody knows your name and I think Ricks have taken up that motto too! Myself and a good friend visited Ricks Cafe Americane and went up to the rooftop bar only to find that there was a private party happening but instead of turning us away and saying sorry this is a private party Ricks welcomed us like old regulars the friendly barman knew our drinks order and welcomed us back! Such a good vibe with Bar staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and the whole Casablanca vibe on the 2nd floor of the 3 story Ricks Cafe makes you feel like you are in the iconic Ricks Cafe from the movie and there is even a grand piano with a piano player that makes you kinda feel like saying " Play it again Sam! I highly recommend this hidden gem in Kloof Street Cape Town!!

The venue, cocktails, menu and vibe is fantastic! However, the burgers are supposedly legendary and thats what we had. Burger bun was a let down as they were clearly from a supermarket. The burger texture was weirdly very fine. No grill taste to the burger, it tastes suspiciously like a Today's burger. I would go there again for drinks and tapas but definitely not for a burger. I was disappointed.

Great location, spread over three floors, with the best view of Table Mountain. There is also a balcony where you can also eat. At the top there is a roof terrace that can be closed off with glass doors if necessary. The waitresses are all very polite and helpful. We had different dishes, all of which tasted very good. In addition to a large number of wines in different price ranges, there is also an enormous selection of different types of gin. I'd love to stop by again!

Nice restaurant near the center of Cape Town, which can be reached on foot from Long Street. The design and ambience is based on American films from the 40s and 50s. Humpfrey Bogart and Casablanca are the focus. You can sit comfortably inside or on the roof terrace. The service staff is friendly and the prices are not unreasonable.
