How’s Your Oni? my Oni was great!! 😂 I’m fairly new to Asian cuisine, but the waitress made great recommendations and made our decision easier - and let me tell you, the food was amazing! It is a small restaurant, but packs a big punch. Best make a booking as it has limited space and with that quality food, soon people might queue for hours.

I firmly believe that you haven't lived until you've tried the tempura'd onigiri here. Definitely one of the most delicious things ever! Everything seems to be made with care from scratch, so even if that means that you have to wait a little longer than expected, it's always worthwhile. The space is probably the closest I've found in Cape Town to an authentic Japanese izakaya: cosy with fewer seats, simple but impactful decor, clean. Big fan and always seem to find myself coming back :)

Always an amazing experience when I visit How's Your Oni ! Great food, amazing location , friendly staff and passionate chefs. If you are craving some delicious Japanese food then stop in and grab your self some Onigiri to go, or sit down and enjoy everything on the menu!

This is my new favourite spot in Greenpoint. Locally owned Japanese restaurant run by a very passionate local Minchan, food is so tasty and very unique to the Cape Town area. Great flavours and a very easy spot to have quick filling meals for a reasonable price. 10/10 would recommend

Um, wow! We left so full, satisfied and blown away by how delicious everything we ordered was. There were so many vegan options available as well! Definitely recommend everything we tried, miso soup, mixed mushrooms, tofu, and the udon soup. The flavours in all of them, reminded us of being back in Japan! So glad we came to try it out and can't wait to come back next time we're in Cape Town! Thanks for making so many delicious vegan options!

My friend took me here for a lil birthday dinner and it was so beaut. From the food to the ambience (no super loud music), I’ve honestly wanted to book another visit right away. The decor is SO cute as well, it just brings joy 🥲 The vegan crunch Onigiri was stellar, please keep it on your menu always!

A wonderful find - I was blown away at the magnificent flavors and quality of the dishes. Very nice simplicity in the restaurant, but it is a long wait for the dishes. Go and experience this magnificent restaurant, but do take time with you. I will most definitely go there again and again.

Top notch restaurant, had the nicest chat with the owner and the staff are super friendly, was absolutely blown away by the Wagyu beef and the onigiri, it came with traditional wasabi and it was such an amazing culinary experience, awesome job you guys!

Food 10/10 ! The Panko Prawn Onigiri & Takoyaki was perfectly cooked, and the fillings were fresh and flavorful. Will definitely be back try other flavours! The service was top-notch as well. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure that my dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Overall, I loved this restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience. If you’re a fan of onigiri, definitely give this place a try !

The food was amazing! I had the Veg Udon - the noodles were fresh, the tempura vegetables was crispy and the broth has an amazing umami flavour. You just need to be patient while waiting for the food - but definitely worth it!

Similar story as Ramenhead. Good enough for cape town, yet not authentic at all. Teriyaki and mayonnaise is everywhere, adopted by SA Chinese sushi culture. Food quality I would give 3 stars but this is a very cute hipster joint.

Super cute place with amazingly tasty food. The first time I went I did find the service a little slow but that seems to have been an complete outlier as every other time since has been fast and efficient. One that that has not changed is that food has been so good - worth an immediate visit.

This is our first time in Cape Town and we arrived very early and were looking for a quiet place to continue planning our 2.5 week trip. We were immediately warmly welcomed and the ambience was perfect. Dons, the waitress, was very friendly and immediately offered to help us with tours and activities. The food was also perfect and very tasty and we can fully recommend it. We would love to come back!
