Reviews of Beluga Cape Town
Wow, I really love this place.
I had the West Coast oysters starters, main course creamy garlic mussels, and baked cheese cake dessert. Sterling everything, thank you. Can’t wait to come back again,
Food is good. Lovely view looking over the cruise ship portion of the harbour. I'd avoid if a ship has just docked or is to leave within a few hours.
Currently still sitting at my table. But I have to say, this was the BEST food I've had in probably forever. The steaks are TO DIE FOR. On a bed of crispy smashed potatoes. The DimSum is unbelievable. Especially the Prawn. And the Creme Brulee, are you nuts!?!?! What a lovely place and honestly not badly priced at all! And I'm a cheapo. 😅 An amazing experience and what lovely staff!
Both times I’ve been to Beluga it was for a project wrap-up lunch. So, I think it’s a good place to go for work/project farewells.
A beautifully layed out restaurant, despite it being in an area that is still being built.
The decor is modern and stylish. I was there with a big table about 20 people. The service was friendly, professional and efficient.
The food was good, but I was a little disappointed as when I last came to beluga at green point I thought it was excellent.
I had a sushi starter, which was ok. Steak for main was a bit fatty.
The almond and orange cake for desert was delicous
I visited for a Sunday afternoon snack. A lovely live band way playing which was a great treat. I enjoyed their dim sum, wantons and salmon sashimi and sullied on a virgin strawberry daiquiri. I love that their sushi is always fresh and the dim sum never dissapoints. The staff is friendly and efficient. We didn't stay long as we sat outside and it was freezing. I can't wait to visit again in the summer for oysters and bubbly. My partner had a Springbok and fries. Done medium rare, it was delicious with a beetroot puree. Overall the restaurant has a relaxed and cool vibe.
Had some chicken and fish dishes with rice . It was very good. The service was very good.
My husband and I went to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary at Beluga yesterday and ofcourse the location is simply beautiful. The hostess was welcoming and gave us a choice to sit wherever we felt most comfortable. Our waiter/s were also friendly although they seemed to rush around for most of the night even though the restaurant wasn’t as full as we have experienced it before. We ordered the prawn n ginger dumplings and tuna crunch sushi which was delightful. I’m not a big fan of tuna but this certainly changed my mind on that. My hubby had the rib eye steak with chips and I had the spicy ramen bowl with prawns. Ribeye was cooked to perfection. I wasn’t a fan of the ramen bowl, too much lemongrass and the sauce was not your usual light fragrant broth but a rich coconut creamy sauce, prawns were a bit underdone for my liking. We had dessert the malva pudding was a winner with the delicious vanilla ice cream. I had tried the orange and almond cake; unbeknownst to me it was vegan so very dense and the vegan ice cream that accompanied it was just flavourless - it was just average. Overall we enjoyed the evening and we will certainly return to try out other menu items.
The food was absolutely incredible, while I thoroughly enjoyed the white chocolate beignets, it was the Norwegian Salmon that stole the show. I would have given a 5/5 rating, however we had made a reservation for outdoor seating and while this was brought to the attention of the hostess, nothing was done to remedy the situation and we were left feeling ignored.
I love that there are vegan options to choose from. I had the beetroot tart and tofu crunch sushi which I enjoyed!
We had a party of 30+ for dinner. The food presentation was excellent, quality was very good considering the number of people being served, taste was very good. Therefore, starters, main course and desserts all were very good!
The environment was full of beautiful sounds of people having fun. Location was good.
Quality checks of food was done and eaten food plates were removed promptly.
Went for supper on Valentines day. Was really a beautiful setup. Food and ambience great.
Beautiful restaurant with a modern warehouse vibe. Extensive menu, including a variety of seafood dishes, sushi as well as Asian fusion and the typical meat options. Fantastic lunch time specials on cocktails and sushi, as well as a plethora of drink specials to suit all tastes. Highly recomendable!
I went for stake straight as adviced by friends. Meat was great. Some ingredient was bit too salty, but in general - I liked it!
Staff was friendly, enivonment also nice, good options of wine. Upscale price, but worth to experience at least once if you are in or just came to Cape Town. Few pictures, to get the feeling
Absolutely LOVE Beluga in Cape Town.
The location, ambience, service, and food are phenomenal.
The vegan friendly menu is a boon and keeps me coming back again and again.
The crispy tofu sushi is to die for and their cocktails are fantastic as well.
Definitely recommend booking a table by the water for the view.
What a nice venue and what a large and varied menu to choose from. The food was exquisite and we were served with a smile... Such a plesant experience
Always great vegetarian and vegan sushi options at beluga. The dumplings are also good. Great value for money on Sundays and leave room for dessert!
This is a fantastic place for a group dining.
Staff is amazing. Atmosphere is great.
I do however feel that the menu is not really for a singular eat rather platter focused. I say this as while I could order a single steak my wife could not find a prawn plate for one. Or any Sea food image for one. Maybe this will change.
All round not a bad place.
Great food, good service. We had the seafood platter abd sushi - yummy. No views. Parking can be a nightmare. An expensive restaurant - we went on a day when they had half price sushi.
What an amazing experience today!
Thank you Beluga. The sushi, drinks, staff and ambience was just perfect! 🍹🍣⛴️🌴
I'm back soon for sure!
A huge thank you to AB and Patrick for the best service we've ever received in a restaurant. So friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the food. The sushi was great but the other seafood dishes could be better, especially considering the price.
Sushi, dim sums and cocktails 50% off between 4-7 week days. I mean common....
Cocktails to die for, dim sum amazing and the sushi lovers will kill for more.
What a awesome spot. Super friendly waiters and staff. The good is delicious and the menu is filled with something to fill every appetite. Whether you love sushi or dim sum or want a salad or curry or even want some meaty dishes, they have it all.
Sushi was fresh, great, sole was lovely, service great but slight bit slow as it was Sunday.... Lovely vibe
Great food, ambience, and service! The DJ is a lot of fun.
But what was unbelievable was the whisky list! it is incredible - MUST go if you're a serious whisky lover. They even have hard to find bottles like the Octomore at bargain prices. If I had more time in Cape Town, I'd go back just for the whisky! :D
I had the most incredible experience at Beluga last night. The food was delicious and of a great quality. The ‘happy hour’ specials were great value for money and all of the staff members were very friendly and attentive.
Our waiter Delwin was exceptional and made the experience even better.
Highly recommend visiting and will definitely return there soon.
This was always our favorite restaurant and loving the new seaside venue
Had our year end function at Beluga and it was amazing. I would highly recommend the fillet steak, cooked to perfection. Brilliant spot! I need to come back.
I would like to thank Faith, our waitress, who was exceptional from the start and provided amazing service to myself and my fiancé.
Was brought here by my 3 year old granddaughter who insisted on eating out. Had the most delicious sea bass. Has been quite a few years since I've eaten at Beluga. Prices are more reasonable than I remember. The entry staff were very welcoming and formed part of my decision to try their food. Beautiful venue. Mostly good service overall. Beluga is tucked away at Makers Landing now and probably serves the cruise ship passengers, but had a healthy proportion of locals on a quiet day.
The best Salmon/Tuna Crunch in Cape Town...their sushi is always fresh and delicious and their Dim Sum is amazing.
Celebrated our staff function on Thursday 8.12.2022. The food was terrible, I ordered the Steak and vegetables, the steak was so over-done, no sauce to compliment the meat, the vegetables was dry, the service was poor, towards closing of the restaurant, they asked us to leave and we haven't yet received our desserts, I ended up not getting my dessert and just left. The atmosphere was ok, the music could've been better. Not a great experience this time around. The ladies at reception were friendly and lovely
Lovely venue. Friendly and efficient service in a relaxed atmosphere.
Location is not good, and it smells horrible, because of the fish industry.
Great food and excellent service. Seafood platter is amazing. Don't miss it when in capetown.
Nice restaurant. Service was terrible.
We waited for 30 minutes for a drink. Our waiter was casually walking around the restaurant, sometimes disappearing.
The seafood platter (for 2) was great. However, needed more seasoning, flavour, garlic, and butter sauce on the side would have been nice to have.
All dishes were cold by the time we got our food
What a great place and atmosphere! Beautiful outdoor seating in an enclosed courtyard. Casual yet elegant dining. The food was great, got to taste the springbok and ostrich burger which was very big and pretty good. The chips were amazing too. Finished off with the creme brulee, best I've had on a long time. We had a great evening, our waiter was always there to make sure we were happy.
I loved the experience. My last daddy daughter date before I left for UK
Beluga's food and service is always great. Enjoy their cocktails and their chicken pot stickers are The Best!
The new setup is much better, more tables, more space and lots of parking but the location itself is a bit meh.. Guess they can't be too close to their sister restaurant. Other than that , Beluga is always a favorite.
New location at the Cruise Terminal (since a year), food menu offers a lot of variety.
Great service from Vusi!
We had a nice evening sitting at the terrace and we`ll be back!
Food good but make sure to check your bill before leaving! Our waiter didn't apply any of their half price items hoping to up the bill from R7000 to R7600. Also don't go hungry we were literally there for 5+ hours, waiting an hour for each meal to be served
Took a small while to actually find the restaurant but when we did it was great
Good food, good service, great view of the harbour activities
Over our stay we went through for a customer lunch and then followed up for a customer dinner as well
Ps - restaurant was happy to share proof that they are Halaal friendly which was much appreciated
Been there twice for their 4-6pm happy hour. Their drinks are amazing, the sushi is good and I enjoyed the wonton. Definitely recommend 👌
This place is really enjoyable. Been here several times and it never fails to give you a sense of occasion. The menu is (also too) varied and something for everyone. The sushi in particular is fantastic, some of best available in Cape Town. It is priced slightly higher than the average restaurant but the extra money is well spent in my opinion. Its perfect for a birthday or anniversary.
We had wontons, dumplings and crunch sushi and it was all amazing. This is our third time Jason was served us and he is always so attentive and friendly!
What can I say, the waiters aren't always helpful with information regarding the menu. Stated as halal friendly. The venue decor is nice. The sushi is okay and the meat options depending what you take is enjoyable. The desserts are not consistent sadly. Great place for sundowners catching up with friends.
Joined the family for my sisters birthday.
The food was absolutely phenomenal!
I could not find a single fault as all I wanted to do was eat and eat.
Perhaps the cocktails and wine by the glass is a little pricey however receiving such lovely service and outstanding food makes up for it.
The seafood here is remarkable. The wine selection is adequate, but also offers plenty of local options. They have a huge menu with plenty of options. Staff is incredibly professional and don't bug you too often. Will definitely return. Highly recommended if you like seafood.
The food was okay, but it definitely did not have a wow factor. The calamari as a starter was great and it was a healthy portion size. I ordered the chicken fillet as a main course and it was very bland. The creme brûlée as a dessert was something that I won't remember. Overall, okay food that is overpriced.
Great place for really good food.
Despite the load-shedding, it was a very welcoming environment.
Plenty of vegan options. I had the rice rolls and the potato curry - both were delicious.
Staff were an absolute pleasure.
Meh... nothing special here. Feels like they are having a bit of an identity crisis. They offer an R1500 platter for two , but their best wine is a Alvi's drift red blend.
Great food, nice location and very friendly staff! Service is a little bit slow however everything else more than makes up for it. The food and drinks are definitely more expensive than other places I've been to recently, and noticeably so; in many instances I felt maybe the prices are too high. Nonetheless, a great experience.
Came with my mum to celebrate this special occasion. Staff treated as exceptionally and made it feel like a special evening. Would recommend. Thanks again guys!
Lovely restaurant for date night
Very good food in a harbor atmosphere. A bit difficult to find. Food great, staff friendly.
Very very good food, brilliant cocktails. The location is a little remote, so not overcrowded. The service was courteous and attentive. Overall, the best dining experience in Cape Town! 10/10
Absolute recommendation.
The restaurant is in a large building which has a nice view. Sushi was fine but not the very best I've ever had. We were helped very well
Hidden insider tip! We had various sushi and seafood and it was incredibly tasty. The service is particularly good and attentive and the location is very nice with a view of the harbor. We ate there several times during our trip as it was just so delicious and beautiful.
Very tasty restaurant with a beautiful view of the harbor!
