One of the best places to get a pint in Cape Town! Their selection is top tier and the fact that there are so many releases means that each time you go you could have a different beer all together! Staff are great and even if it’s been a while, over a year in my case, they still remember you and it’s like you never left! Definitely recommend. Sour beers are amazing here!!

So so awesome! Excellent friendly staff, service and cracking ambience!! The food and uniquely brewed IPAs were on another level of excellent. Had the jerk chick pasta (tastes10x better than the photo), poppers was sufficiently filled and so good, and the wings were great!! Staff informativley debriefed me on each beer/IPA brwered upstairs and that was very much appreciated as a good IPA is what I thoroughly enjoy. Thanks for having us will 100% return and highly reccomended

Went last night. Food as divine as usual. Chili poppers just right. And the blue cheese burger with avo is amazing. But the memorable highlight is the cheerful and delightful service

Authentic and fun, this little restaurant packs a big punch. Well priced and comfortable they truly brings a bit of the Caribbean to Cape Town! Great selection of drinks, friendly staff and a varied, inspired and authentic menu that showcases dishes boasting the unique flavour combinations of the “Afro-Caribbean”. A must if you enjoy new taste adventures!

Our first ever visit to this great venue just down the road from us. I didn't know what we were missing and we're very happy to have discovered it. Great food and an amazing selection of drinks. Good service too, so what more could you want. Oh, and the music is fantastic. You can't help relaxing and just chilling out. We will definitely be back.

Love this restaurant, one of my favorite places in Cape Town. Lovely atmosphere, good food and something for everyone. Great for afternoon drinks (happy hour from 5-6pm every day) or for romantic dinner. Cozy seating inside or more social in the garden outside.

Had an AMAZING Delicious burger at Banana Jam. Caramelized Onion, Rocket and Camembert. The burger was juicy and thick and so yummy . The service was excellent and it’s always reggae vibes. They’ve been open for years , I lived in the area in 2008 and the quality hasn’t faltered , neither has their vibe and they have such great #vegan and #vegeterian options. Taps was out waiter and he was great. #HiddenGem in Kenilworth.

Really nice place with a great vibe. Menu is small but has lots of food you won't easily find at other restaurants. They have a very wide drink selection which consist around a lot of beers and cocktails. Service was good, but not as punctual as I would have liked, as we were sitting for a while before they came to take our drink orders. This was after we already sat down and once and then had to move to accommodate our party of 7. Food was delicious, but certain side orders brought it down, for me it was the chips which you would expect would be of the same quality as the burger it came with.

The meal sizes are massive and the food is fresh and delicious! The staff are helpful, always offering drinks and checking if you are okay. There is a good vibe here, many people, even on weeknights come to enjoy sitting outside for a drink with friends.

We had a lovely time at Banana Jam. I have gone to Banana Jam several times and I have never been dissatisfied. I generally order a pizza - they have an awesome pizzas. And don't miss out on their awesome selection of cocktails. Yum. Our waiter was also a lot of sport, friendly and delivered excellent service. Will go again soon.

Friendly service, great food, both traditional Caribbean styles, including 'jerk', as well as burgers, pizzas etc. But nothing is plain or boring. They have a sensational craft beer selection! A regular favorite!

Interesting decor and lovely atmosphere. We only went there for dessert. However we were not impressed with the cheesecake - it was not the cheesecake I know. We also wanted chocolate pie which they did not have. They then charged us for the chocolate pie we did not have. Fortunately I checked the bill, otherwise I would have paid for something we did not eat. Maybe the food is better, but I don't think we will go there again.

It's seldom that I get really enthralled by a restaurant dish but the but the chicken wings are superb, crunchy and tasty with just the right about of heat. The mussels in spicy coconut milk were excellent. Poppers okay, but the chicken wings made my day. Staff are friendly and helpful and make guests feel welcome.

I enjoyed this place. It had a good wide variety of food. It also has a good selection of drinks with reasonable pricing. I am a picky drinker so most of the cocktails I didn't enjoy. The food was good, big portions however the taste wasn't worth it. We had an engaging waiter, although service would be slow at certain times. I went on a Tuesday night so the vibe was a bit down. I don't know how it would compare to the weekend. The bathroom were really clean which I appreciated.

Banana Jam never fails to deliver. Fabulous food and drinks and even more fabulous people! Last night our server, Talent, was just incredible. We mentioned not wanting mayo due to an egg allergy and she picked up on multiple things that had egg in them and made the necessary adjustments. She was fantastic! 15/10 recommend this place. Our spot of choice for 2 decades!!!!

Tasty food, good drinks, friendly people, a laid back atmosphere and decent prices. Whats not to like? The fact that it has been around for over 15 years and is still very popular by such a wide verity of people is a testament to its success as the local watering hole for the area. Personally I am a big fan of the Green Iguana cocktails they offer.

Always a good experience. Tonight I had a burger (pizza my other favourite). Lovely manager gave us a taster of a delicious berry ale (definitely trying it next time) when she saw us drinking cider. Friendly waiter. Just a great casual evening with consistently good food :-)

They have a fantastic selection of local and imported craft beers, which works for me. Also great cocktails and staff who know how to prepare these and that is a skill. Food was great and service by our waitress, Talent, our waitress, was well above average so all in all a really great experience. I recommend it.

Update: I first reviewed Banana Jam 6 years ago and it's still one of my my usual spots... so perhaps I'm biased, but then again most experienced! Still simple, delicious food, right from the soup starter to the fully loaded rack of ribs. Lots of interesting experimental beers on tap - the variety is amazing. Service has always been excellent. Last night, I asked them to make the curry dangerously hot because it was always too mild... Jenny in the kitchen delivered the hottest thing I've ever eaten as a special order and it actually defeated me! I hope BJam keeps reinventing itself so I can keep going there for another decade: Easy 5-Stars.

Oh my word! Their lemonade though! Most refreshing lemonade ever - pure, fresh lemony deliciousness. My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed this as well as our respective banana deserts (banana fritters and drunken bananas). Staff were professional, efficient and friendly. Great vibe too!

Some of the best cocktails on this side of the cbd. I always have a fantastic time here. The cocktails are plenty and happy hour is a must. The wide range of beers is fantastic and there are some interesting things to try. The food is beautiful, cuban/carribean and filled with plenty of flavour. The Jambalaya is the number one thing on the menu, served with Cuban flat bread, it's out of this world delicious. Always a good time here with friends and family.
