The place was nice. Nice chilled music on the background. It’s also very cosy as there are sofas. I had Bacon Nachos and virgin strawberry daiquiri. My nachos topping were really nice, nichos themselves were not crunchy enough but it was good nonetheless. My daiquiri was really sweet and the waitress managed to dilute it and blend in more ice which was so nice of her. Second time here and will definitely be back soon.

Cosy spot. I love the lighting and atmosphere. Great for couples date nights As well as a lovely spot for a friends brunch Food is amazing, drinks are fantastic (both hot and cold drinks!) The gas heater is on for those icy cold days, it’s just wonderful.

My first visit was good and the food was more than decent. I had a starter, main and dessert and all three were delicious in their own right. I will return to sample the steaks.

My family and I had an awesome time. It was my son's birthday and our waiter, Isaac, went out of his way to make our evening more special. Our meal consisted of the mussel starter together with chicken wings. Everything was sumptuously prepared. This was the perfect set-up for our mains. Again, our food was incredibly well prepared and this resulted in tender, flavourful meat.

Great restaurant and delicious food. service was tentative and not over bearing. Food was tasty with one of the dishes being a bit cold which they fixed in a heartbeat. Menu is extensive and we will definitely be back to try other dishes

THE STOCKYARD MARROW BURGER!!! YES, order this burger. If you enjoy the iconic original cheeseburger, but with an honest twist to it. Then do your tastebuds the pleasure of ordering this burger. The taste experience of this burger was truly a first and original for me. It's hard to find burger variants that still feels original and this just hits the spot.

This place used to offer fantastic burgers and beer as well as American style food. The last time we went something has changed in the kitchen. My wife was craving a chicken burger and figuring that this place specialises in burgers we went here. They only had one chicken burger on the menu at the time and it just listed pickled onions as one of the toppings. We ordered it assuming it would be the standard pickled red onions, the menu didn't specify anything different and they only had one chicken burger on the menu so we assumed it was a safe bet. When it came the chicken burger just didn't taste right. We spent a while trying to pin down that flavor (we're both chefs and the flavor was jarring and unexpected) eventually we found the pickled onions were heavily flavored with cardamom. We asked our waitress who confirmed that we were right after asking the kitchen. Now we aren't saying that cardamom can't go with chicken it's just it's an extremely controversial flavor and it being the only chicken burger it would make sense to go for safe options that everyone would enjoy. Needless to say we didn't finish the burger even after taking it home. On a side note the chef had also take a ring cutter to the chicken pattie and stuffed the offcuts underneath which seemed a bit odd as the best parts of a chicken burger are the crispy overhangs. The beef burger I had was perfectly delicious. We have not been back since and I doubt we will be back but I really do hope that things have improved.

We visited the bistro for a Sunday lunch. The service was great, our waiter was friendly and welcoming, the manageress also occasionally checked in on us. We ordered the wings for starters, which were delicious, very flavourful! Our mains were however mediocre, the pulled pork and brisket, supposedly smoked, did not taste the least bit like it was, and not the melt-in-the-mouth experience that we were previously used to. Overall it was a nice Sunday lunch.

The food was great and Musa, our waitress was friendly and attentive. The place is beautiful with lovely aesthetics. We spent our afternoon here for lunch. The chocolate cake was perfect. Despite the place being packed with lotsa celebrations going on, Musa was always around to check up on us. Would definitely recommend this place. Overall, the experience was lovely.

Food is always great, I've been going there for years disappointed when the portion size gets smaller or these less cheese in the nachos. Especially with drinks 🍸 sometimes they'll give you a steel works for example and then sometimes they give it you in a regular glass.

From the outside, its filled with promise; big neon sign outside, great decor, but get in and sit down and the flaws show. Mind you, the welcome and the overall service is excellent, which is why i WILL go back sometime. But the food is average fair, tending toward over-cooked, with high-end pricing. Worth a second visit, i just hope the quality improves. Food ordered; Louisiana prawns 9/10, buttermilk battered prawns 7/10, salt&pepper squid 3/10, hickory wings 4/10, prawn nachos 5/10, chicken pie 6/10, tomahawk steak 2/10, buttermilk waffle 4/10, apple pie 3/10, chocolate brownie 3/10

Not bad but not exceptional. It’s a good vibe but a bit overpriced considering most menu items don’t come with a side. I liked that the menu had good variety. The decor is very instagrammable. I felt out of place in my shorts and t-shirt:)

Excellent service from the staff, waiter was well very helpful and recommended the nicest dishes from a very vast menu. Cocktails were excellent, refreshing and delicious. Decently priced and the portions are more than generous, just a bit disappointed I couldn't get dessert because of the huge portions. Overall if there were a 6th star for bonus, I'd give it to them because it is definitely one of the best restaurants in the Upper Highway.

Had the Valentines day set menu and all I can say is WOW! . The créme brulée was the best I ever had, the steak with Dijon mustard sauce was cooked to perfection and the cut of meat was excellent. The pork bomb starter and the beef phyllo pastry was absolutely tasty. I would give this place 10 stars if I could because 5 stars isn't enough.

Causal restaurant for Sunday dinner. Group of 4. Fabulous carefree time without the kids. Meals were well prepared. Don't try the pastas as it was average. Their steaks were done to perfection. Their calamari starter portion was generous and delicious. Hubby had the Prawn and fish curry which was average. Good night out.

Amazing is an understatement when it comes to the service, food and experience I had here today. Down right the best service I have ever had when it comes to a restaurant, I was shocked at how much knowledge our lovely waitress, Sibelo, had and how she meticulously took care of our mid size group. Everything was good, I honestly couldn't spot a flaw from the beautiful decor and style of the restaurant to the mouthwatering food, the service was by far the best. It is so hard to get good customer service and this restaurant made it seamless, on service alone I would definitely be back. I highly recommend a visit.

What a great find. We don't spend much time up in the Kloof area so took a stab at the first spot we found on Google. Service was excellent, menu was excellent and the food was excellent. Tons of stuff on the menu I want to try and can't easily find elsewhere. Definitely will be back... There needs to be one of these in Umhlanga.

Situated in Kloof This restaurant has awesome decor ambiance and the vibes are awesome. A popular place for Durban heavy weights I could gather xx The staff are some of thee most attentive service wise and do a good job checking on you. High 5 to them. It was very busy for Sunday lunch lots of birthdays been celebrated place was packed which is a great sign. Music was a tad bit to loud we had to raise our voices at the table just to converse This place would get a 5 star if the food was excellent its not bad just not the quality one would expect from an American Bistro the food is to be remembered. I won't be remembering any of my meals no vavavooom in their taste. Otherwise great experience feels like more of the Cubana vibes - I would certainly come back for chilling with friends drinks relaxation but not for fine eating. Otherwise great rendition on an American Bistro.

Our lunch at 1904 was certainly very enjoyable. Service was excellent. The food even better. The restaurant certainly lives up to its American vibe and offers something different from more 'general' restaurants. Pricing as expected was a little more than average but worth it.

Wednesday Date Night special is fabulous! We had the 2 x pastas with a bottle of wine for R199. There were 10 of us. The service with Wandile was great and the food was yummy. Extra special icecream with a sparkler for my birthday treat. Thank you 1904 for a memorable evening

Hi there. So this is not my first time visiting this place. I'm from Western Cape, Mossel Bay. The service here is amazing. We were celebrating an achievement that two of my friends got, right? Lovely lunch experience in this beautiful venue. The decor is modern and makes for excellent photo opportunities. A great choice for a celebration or a special occasion. The food is amazing and we were spoilt for choice in choosing what to eat. We loved the cocktail menu and the beautiful creations. A small suggestion, as the restaurant can get quite busy be prepared to wait. We were not really offered a second drink and were asked if we wanted the bill before deciding.

My husband and I went for the Wednesday date night special which was absolutely value for money We had chicken livers and mussels for our starters and for mains we had the steak and roast pork belly, the steak was delicious and tender and the pork melted in your mouth We will be back

Following a complaint made by my daughter (Busi), this is more in detail. We had a lovely dinner @ a booked table for 7pm (2nd Dec 2022) family of 6. The waitress named (Sli) wasnt friendly at all she was rushing us to take orders, and as an old woman I asked for options of wings she didn't even advise me a better choice, I ended up ordering hot spicy wings & worse of all my grandaughter's order came 15mins later. Some of us were halfway through our meals. There was no update up until we asked about it, and still there was no apology. She also charged us an extra coke and amended the bill with no apology once again but nonetheless the place is awesome and the food was great :)

Very friendly staff that were super efficient. The manager himself came to collect our plates, something that these days you don't see very often. The food was quick and very tasty. It's not the cheapest place around but they do serve a different style of food that I haven't seen in Durban.

I love this restaurant as an idea and the types of food you can get. I always have the same thing to say and it truly never disappoints. They do need to possibly have more vegetarian options though. The one thing is the service has gone down. The waiters don't seem to be interested anymore. Would I still go back? Oh definitely!!!!
