This was a spontaneous trip to Montecasino to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Shout out to Busi who served us; she is exceptional, genuinely warm and friendly and she went out of her way to make the occasion very special. The setting is relaxed and with the calming sound of water from the nearby fountain and the beautiful spring weather. the atmosphere created was perfect. We ordered fillet on the bone, a T-bone steak, with a side of chips and gratinated corn. My fillet was good, that T-bone steak was absolutely divine paired with mushroom sauce. As we had mentioned that it was our anniversary, 2 generous complimentary bowls of ice cream were brought for the kids to enjoy. Towards the end of the meal, we were delightfully surprised when Busi brought another portion of ice cream for just us and a delicious chocolate sauce. That just made our day - thank you to the staff for making it such a memorable occasion for us!

You know sometimes you regret getting steak at a restaurant, because you feel that you could have done a better job at home. Well not this place. The steak was perfect and their house wine is really good.

Succulent and tender steaks. The marrow-bone sauce comes highly recommended. I just wished the plate/skillet were hot as my medium-rare steak got cold quickly which put a damper on my appetite. The fillet with mussels was a beautiful combination though. Great background music with songs from yesteryear. The complimentary choc-martini treat after the meal is always a delight. All-round a great experience.

I would like to congratulate Chris, Brian and Team for the absolutely fantastic food and service.  The food was absolutely delicious, i had no complaints.. The starter, crumbed and baked camembert...so soft and creamy... So scrumptious. The lamb shank was so soft and juicy and the mash so buttery and delicious.  The aroma from this dish was so amazing. The baked cheesecake.... WOW... This is the best baked cheesecake I've eaten. The service was fantastic... .  We were well looked after. Aar one of the managers was so sweet and lovely. It has lovely ambience and the wait staff are amazingly well prepared and exceptionally friendly. If you want to have an event like a birthday party though, the only downside is that there isn't any partitioning to keep the area private. However, the food was decent and the service was refreshingly lovely.

Came here for the first time for my birthday and had such a positive experience. Our waiter, Prince, was super friendly and attentive. My fiancé had the steak and said it's the best steak he's ever had. I had the gnocchi and it was So. Good! It was quite filling but I can never say no to dessert so we had the Death by Chocolate and it was perfect. Will definitely be back.

I absolutely cannot commend this place enough! We walked in without a booking after a disastrous encounter at another restaurant and mentioned this to our waitress Abigail, and also that we were celebrating 2 x birthdays and 2 x anniversaries. Service was top notch and so was our food. And a surprise to top this off, an ice cream sundae and chocolate shooter for each person/couple celebrating - on the house!! They could not have done any better in truly turning our moods right around and salvaging our day. An absolute delight! Thank you and thank you again and again!

Gussar Grill is located on the outside area of Montecasino, which is located close to the entrance of the theater. The menu caters to people who love various kinds of meat, fish, and vegetarians and vegans. As a plant-based person myself, I was quite hesitant when I got invited over to a restaurant that focuses on meat. But there's three nice options of meat free dishes, excluding salads. The atmosphere is very cozy, and the service is great.

A quick post show dinner before heading home to miss the storms. We were seated by probably the noisiest table, who were screaming not speaking to one another. I didn't realise The Hussar Grill Montecasino has a rather limited menu, more for the #meatlover which I'm not complaining about. I stuck with my usual Fillet Steak, (Moutarde, double cream with blended mustards) and this time decided to go healthy with Veg instead of fries. My family had a combination of Chicken Breasts, Pork Belly, Trio of Snails (Garlic butter; Smoked paprika and Rosemary compound butter; and Blue cheese), and Hollandse Bitterballen (Double-cream Béchamel studded with beef jus and beef bits, then crumbed and deep fried) My fillet was cooked to perfection and the mustard sauce was delicious, so was my veggies. My Dads Snails were not as great as we expected the different flavours were not that different to one another. We ordered Cappuccino's before leaving but they were not very hot. This is the review in his exact words: I was contacted by Chris, the General Manager, after I expressed my disappointment with the restaurant on a Google Review. Me and my guests were cordially invited back to the restaurant by Chris for a complimentary meal. The invitation was accepted with gratitude and we made a reservation for 7 June 2024. We were welcomed and treated as guests of honour by Chris and his supporting staff. We were treated exceptionally well. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was impeccable! It was overall a perfectly splendid experience. I am pleased to say that Hussar Grill, Monte Casino ensured an unforgettable experience and I will gladly return and refer anyone to them in the future. This experience reminded me why Hussar Grill, Monte Casino, has always been my restaurant of choice and shall remain to be just that! The endless efforts of Chris and his supporting staff of the evening makes up a hundred times for the mishap that we encountered with them on a previous occasion. We look forward to our next visit at Hussar Grill for a remarkable experience. To conclude, using the words from the Pixar Animated film Ratatouille (though slightly altered) “I will be returning to Hussar Grill soon, hungry for more.”

We had a great table outside to watch the rugby. Staff is so efficient and I even saw the owner working tables. I am very impressed with the food aswell. In a high competition setup like this, they are certainly making sure that their patrons will want to keep coming back.

Great place on the open air part of the casino. They have the best steaks 🥩 and offer a great atmosphere for large and small groups. They are popular so be sure to check if there is space on busy times. In the evening the open air part is enclosed and they have nice gas heaters to keep you warm. Service is prompt and the staff are friendly. We celebrated a birthday and it was very nice that they brought us a complimentary desert. In the warmer Jozi days this place would be a great outdoor spot to just sit back and enjoy.

My wife's salmon and my pork belly were both exquisite, complemented perfectly by the heavenly mashed potatoes and a must-try corn side dish. Wonderful restaurant, I think i finally found my favorite restaurant in fourways. Wow!! This is the place to be! My waiter was out of this world! Good atmosphere Yummy food . Was there with work so we were a big group so unfortunately service was a bit slow . However the restaurant wasn’t full so still a little disappointing. Also seemed to be a lot of commotion between wait staff at the end of the evening and everyone went home with the wrong left overs - ordered lamb and went home with my colleagues left over rib eye . Love Hussars date night specials, however found the service at Monte Casino lacking and rather disappointing. Each time we needed service we had to wait for what seemed like hours to find out waiter. Food was great but did not enjoy the rest of the experience.

We came for breakfast and just didn't have a great time. The waiter set up the table and didn't come back to ask for drinks for like 15 minutes. My mate got an egg that he asked for sunny side up and the white was still runny. I'm sorry but there is barely anyone on this earth that will eat an egg with runny whites, that should've not even been served at a restaurant of this caliber. Mushrooms were barely cooked, still hard and didn't absorb any flavour. Just not a great experience. I know it was just breakfast, but I think that should be the easiest thing not to mess up.

A good experience. The place is nice, pleasant environment. The complimentary olives in garlic and sweet potato fries are simply fantastic. Our food order was very delayed. We always enjoy Hussar Monte's food. We did Christmas lunch this time. We had to order from one of three menus- something for everyone. It was very busy but the servers coped well. There were no indications that it was a Christmas day regarding decor which was slightly disappointing. Although a trio of snails were on the one menu, by 12:00 only two flavours were left. Their signature flavoured butters were also not available. The music was just background noise and did not add anything to the experience. The food that we received however was of high quality and delicious.

When I was out with my family. We made a quick Decision to eat at the Hussar Grill. We had no idea what it was about. They do have a menu out in the front of the restaurant but being the adventurous people we are. We decided to go ahead and let me tell you. What an amazing experience! My word! The waiter we had checked up on us. When my glass was empty she refilled it. I wish I knew her name because she was phenomenal. Our food was served all at the same time. It was the six of us. There was absolutely nothing disappointing about this restaurant. They also have a couples night out buffet and I would most certainly love to take my partner out and try it. They even gave dessert on the house which was amazing. The environment is so beautiful. This was really a great experience and I would highly recommend. They are pricey but they are quality. 🍷❤️

What a treat for everyone! They have plenty of options for food and drinks. Their beef is excellent and tasty, and presented really well. Their is a choice of sides with your mains from chips to green beans. The service is excellent and they are well mannered! The atmosphere is cozy and lively. There is a choice between inside and out which is great when the sun is shinning. There is a water feature in the middle if the square which is picturesque and where the children can play. What a great place to have dinner or Lunch. Definitely recommended!! I had a splendid time!

We had a lovely lunch outside and managed to get some fresh air despite the usual set up at the rest of Monte with its indoor outdoor decor. The Hussar Grill's 'Chicken Stack' and 'Death by Chocolate' are delicious, but some of their other dishes need work. Their meagre cocktail menu is disappointing.
