What an amazing experience!! We were welcomed warmly by Ntombi at the door. The manager (Terence) was friendly and very welcoming. He checked in on us 3 times. Our waitress Smiles was absolutely phenomenal. The food???? Absolutely amazing. The cocktails are to die for. The DJ was really really really good. Very vibey but still classy. I didn’t really enjoy the dessert but everything else was so amazing it doesn’t even matter! Will definitely be going back soon

Really great vibes. The drinks are great, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Love it! Edit: we cane here for my dad’s birthday and it was amazing! They had a dj and we even stood up to dance. The food is amazing also! Definitely a vibe.

Interesting new taste to come to jobrug. I found it pleasant along with the big portions. The flavors, some familiar and some not, were also delicious. I think this would make a great tasting date. Menu not very suitable for children. Cocktails were also pretty good. Giving three stars cause the second visit was chaotic and service was not great

A very beautiful space, the setting upstairs is absolutely beautiful and makes for beautiful pictures. The Dj playing a beautiful relaxed set also added a nice relaxed mood to the day. The food was presented beautifully and tasted good.

Lovely interior and food. The prawns could have had a little more flavor to them but the accompanying elements made it really tasty. Will definitely be going back and would recommend you pop by. The hostess was lovely and our waiter Donald was outstanding.

Beautiful Mexican restaurant in Rosebank. Ambiance and Decor is top notch. Service was a bit slow, probably due to being busy. However food was delicious and amazing cocktail. Quite pricey though.

Had a great lunch here today. Could have been a 5 star experience because the food and service (waiter name Chael) was amazing but the host was very unpleasant and unwelcoming. Ribs was fall off bone delicious but would advise getting a side with it as the fennel salad is more of a garnish. Octopus was tasty, sweet with a bit of a kick of heat.

Had the 2 virgin cocktails they had on the menu and WOW, so so good ! The watermelon was my favorite ! We also had starters and shared the rump espetada platter. The dessert was VERY sweet but genuinely worthwhile. Make sure you bool upstairs for the vibe. Great music while you dine. Service was friendly and very attentive. Will visit again.

What a beautiful restaurant. Lovely service. And good food. Mamasamba is beautiful enveloping you in shades of forrest green, natural wood textures and brass tones. It screams cool. The restaurant takes up two floors with the ground floor keeping you close to the bustle of Rosebank shoppers behind light shrubbery screening. To get to the first floor you go up a winding stair case with mirrors, green tiles and carpet. The stairs build anticipation for the upstairs. The circular bar is the main feature of that floor because it in the middle of the room. The green colour palette throughout the restaurant is really appealing. There are beautiful design features everywhere you look. So appealing to the eye. The menu offers small plates, sushi and mains and is inspired by South American cuisine. Your waiter/waitress will have to do an introductory description of the menu and what’s on offer. The meat was slightly over done but over all the food and mocktails went down well in a cool location. The quality of the meat was good and dish conceptualization satisfying. Expect to spend though. Most of the main dishes were R300 up. And starters were north of R100. In the end we paid in the range of R600 per person.

There has been alot of buzz around all the new and funky spots opening in Rosebank. Mamasamba being one of them. I love any place that is funky, quirky, different and even better if they have a stunning mural on the wall. We stopped for a quick bite to eat, so we didn't get to fully explore the menu. Captain and Keith took good care of us bringing our food and drinks. They do take a bit long, even though it was quiet. That seems to be the trend lately for most places. Service is always quicker when busier. Interesting menu, I wasn't sure what I was feeling for, and then something immediately called for me - Maya-Mi Roll (Salmon, prawn, pickled white ginger roll, topped with fired wagyu, miso mayo and sesame togarashi) but at R170 for 4 pieces I was not spending R380 (8 pieces) on sushi only to be hungry later. Don't get me wrong it was damn amazing, the taste, the texture and the Wagyu on the outside absolutely draws you in... But pricy. That along with a Senor Collins cocktail (Grey Goose, Elderflower syrup, mint, fresh lime and soda water) R115. We also ordered the Salmon Volcano Salad, (Marinated Salmon, Avo, Teriyaki lime slaw, black rice, salmon roe and Nori) we were told its a smallish portion, but we said we'd try it, also at R185. Tasty, fresh ingredients and of course it had to have my favourite greenery adorning the top of it. 🙄 The drink of choice was the Michelada (A spicy & savoury bloody Mary, with a lager top) R110. To share we tried the Jalapeño and Corn Croquettes (rojo sauce, chilli oil, lime queso fresco). This was the only item that had no flavour to it, which we did give our feedback. Everything else was good, even the drinks, but be prepared to pay if you going to have alot of mix and match items, and the drinks. We just did a quick stop. Decor is fab, the bar section upstairs has such a fun vibe. Especially the moving art 'Mural'. I didn't know that it changes - and it blew my mind. Love it. Love it. Love it. Stunning all around, throughly enjoyed our experience there. From the Atmosphere, the music, the service from the staff, the style, cuisine, drink and everything. It’s definitely with the visit and price point even though it’s on the more expensive side but I guess it was worth it. We definitely gonna visit again and Calvin our bartender was absolutely awesome.

They have very nice mimosas and I absolutely loved their service! Didn’t get a chance to try out their menu as we had a reservation elsewhere but be ready to spend +R300. They also didn’t seem very busy and didn’t require a reservation like most places.

The FOOD!!!!!That was probably THe best tacos I've ever had. The seasoning!!! Amazing. The aesthetic was very pleasing I even went to the bathroom twice just so I could view the restaurant from up there and take pictures 😁😁.

Lovely venue. Loved the aesthetics. Unfortunately, the service was slow, the restaurant was full, so guess it was a busy night. The drinks weren't on par. The food was ok, expected a bit more considering there is a whole floor dedicated to drinks and the visible kitchen. In essence we were quite disappointed.

Rosebank's newest restaurant that samples the tastes of South America. The decor is simply stunning. This is one of the most beautiful restaurants in Johannesburg - the setting rivals that of Zioux. You are transported in to another world when you enter. The sounds of Latin American music, the interior gardens and greenery and the stunning selection of tiles and ornaments make you feel as though you're in a jungle paradise. The highlight for me was the beautiful green feldt adorned spiral staircase that connects the ground and first floors. The upstairs seating area is completely open and overlooks the courtyard. It brings a lovely freshness to the restaurant and makes you feel as though you're in the middle of a busy street. The food was delicious but not without fault. The chicken dish was undercooked and had to be sent back. The fish was overcooked. The prawn dish was delicious - the sambal and sauce were full of flavour and the prawns were well cooked. The highlight of the evening was definitely the dessert. The miso chocolate mousse was full of flavour and surprises. The service was impeccable and could not be faulted - especially when dealing with the issues with what was ordered. So kudos must be given to the team for handling that superbly. This is definitely a place I will return to as there are many menu items that need to be sampled!

I had an awesome time there, I went on a solo date and my waiter Muzi was the best ever. His service was great, his energy was welcoming and I would definitely go back there again and hopefully be served by him again. The food was just awesome, best sticky pork noodles ever❤️❤️

The food served at the restaurant is lovely, depending on the options. Their beef fillet is a go-to... their Ceviche is something I would not order it again, a totally different idea from what I know, and their Ramen feels like they were experimenting with it. The service at this restaurant is poor, especially for big tables. During non-peak hours, it's smooth sailing. Their food takes too long to prepare. The atmosphere During the day is pleasant, however, in the evening, they have a DJ playing very loud music after 10pm. It is hard to have a conversation with the person sitting next to you, feels like you're in a club and not a restaurant. We asked the manager a couple of times to tone it down, however, our word fell on deaf ears. Overall experience; I would recommend the place only during the day and not in the late evening.

After being dissapointed at another restaurant we had booked at, we decided to give Mamasamba a try, Dissapointed we were not, we dined there on Saturday night and served by a girl called Nilza who kept smiling and cracked jokes. We let her know how hungry and angry we were she made our night special, her recommendations are all we still talking about even today, though it was full and pumping, the girl was quick. This is the kind of service one will continuously come back for, the food was great...salmon teriyaki, beef bowl, the corn woooooow, Thank you Nilza Thank you Mamasamba

Great looking place. disappointing to see a lot of fake documented foreigners. i was lost and needed directions but the security (stallion company) couldn't explain in any SOUTH AFRICAN language. this was frustrating even the waitress was from zimbabwe and couldnt assist in any SA languages.

Not sure why Mamasamba is not rated higher, we thoroughly enjoyed the full experience. Service was good, our waiter was so attentive and got everything right. The place itself is really vibey and cute. And the food was so delicious! Tacos and Sushi were a winner which is odd for a non-Asian restaurant but we enjoyed all our dishes.

An absolute great place.A bit pricey but relatively affordable. However the prices make sense because the quality and flavour in the food is out of this world! The flavours are so strong, aromatic and absolute delicious. Lovely service and owners. Also the decorations and overall design is straight out of Wallpaper magazine. The have gender neutral bathrooms and elevator were a lovely show of inclusiveness. I highly recommend you check it out.

Great ambience and aesthetics. Drinks are pretty and tasty but a little on the expensive side at an average of R110 a drink. Sushi was amazing (a good 8.5/10 for me).Also had the beef fillet mole which was quite bland and underwhelming. Expect a long waiting time between meals and drinks because the service is SLOW! Waitors are not attentive and could leave you hanging for ages. Overall: The place, drinks and food plating are definitely instagrammable but not sure if I'll be in a hurry to go back there.

Problem with most restaurants in Joburg are big on aesthetics and under deliver on the food. The deco makes no sense at all . I don’t understand how you can be a mexican restaurant and serve sushi ?? Sushi was okay The food here was so bland and underwhelming. The presentation of the food could be a lot better. The service was okay . I asked if they had any cold drinks except fizzy drinks, they had cranberry and pineapple which tasted very artificial and too sweet.
