Staff were wonderful 👌🏼. Burgers were good. Fries were what they were. Milkshakes mediocre, more on the runny side, expected a bit more for R60. Overall I'd give the food a 6.7/10.

BGR has some simple, tasty American-style burgers that are always a treat to have. Not the best burgers in town but still high up on the list! Plus they are super affordable for the quality you get. However their sides let them down quite a bit. The chips aren’t bad but not the best. The chocolate frozen custard is mint flavoured (and for someone who hates mint ice cream, a warning would have been nice so I could have avoided ordering it). So the milkshake and mixed frozen custard I ordered I ended up not eating. So a bit disappointing but definitely go through to try their burgers!

After wandering in to a fairly industrial looking space with cold lighting and concrete floors, the friendly staff make it feel warm. This is by no means fast food, but if you have a little while to wait, do. The burger was a little oily, but incredibly tasty - the fries were fairly standard fare. Chocolate milkshake is fantastic and the inclusion of home-made lemonade and iced tea, and a craft beer on tap was very welcome. The menu structure is simple and easy: R65 for a cheese burger, R85 for a double (I think without cheese it was R5 cheaper) - burger price remains fixed whether you have all the toppings or none at all - with the exception of bacon, which is R25 extra. In summary, strange space with great staff, slow but wonderful and simple food and drink. I’ll definitely be back.

Had a double cheese burger. I rate it 8.5/10. I also had a vanilla milkshake. 10/10, this is the best milkshake I have ever had! Fries 5/10. Just normal frozen chips. I feel like for the amount of money you pay, they can work on some hand cut special fries that complete the experience. All in all, great food. Highly recommend.

World class burger joint. It would not be an exaggeration to compare BGR to the likes of Shake Shack or Five Guys... they are that legit. Style is smashburger and you order single/double, with/without cheese and bacon, the rest of the toppings are free and your choice of what to add. The fries are perfectly cooked and crispy (many places in Joburg can't make decent fries). They offer a local lager beer and make shakes, too. Would go again and again.

Super friendly and helpful staff, I enjoyed the burgers. A great variety for bottomless alcohol free beverages. You can also get a scoop of ice cream & freshly squeezed lemonade. The fries are sold separately. Nice joint.

The burgers are amazing. Crispy on the outside yet soft and juicy on the inside. You choose from a wide range of toppings all included in the price. The meat is really good, it stands out compared to other places for the taste and quality. I wish they opened more branches tbh and included chips and drinks as a meal option for cheaper. Bottomless lemonade and ice tea available. The lemonade is sour and tasty would recommend. The ice tea a bit bitter and bland.

This place is worth your time. BGR is known for its amazing burgers & they certainly live up to that reputation. Their meat is fresh & it just takes really good. Nevermind the fact that I shouldn't even be eating burgers cause I am wheat intolerant! 🙃 Anyway! Their service is incredibly loving & welcoming. The guys at the shop were kind, patient, and very friendly to my girls & I. Even though we sat there till they were about to close (we didn't see the time), they were understanding & didn't chase us out you know? Coming to the food, it's simply delectable. A very simple menu where you can build your own burger from at little as R75. You then choose what stuff you want inside your burger (onions, mushrooms etc). The fries are so fresh & just yumm-yumm, they'll go for an extra R35 & their LEMONADE is to die for btw! We tried the half-ice-tea & lemonade combo this time around & it was good but not as awesome as their plain lemonade. Try that when you go again. All in all, a 9/10 experience & the missing one is cause I can never fully give 100% for anything - not sure why 🤣

Bgr makes the best tasting patties. Had the keto burger with the works. It’s wrapped in lettuce saucy and messy but delicious. Try the Arnold Palmer it’s delish. Skip the fries though, those oven chips are phuh. I remember them being better. Still good chow.

I think BGR burgers are one of the most delicious burgers in Johannesburg. Unlike other burger restaurants BGR has "no fuss" burgers - simple toppings to choose from and so the burgers are just tasty without hiding behind other ingredients. The staff are always friendly. I tried the chocolate milkshake recently and loved it. Again, just a simple shake, but really well done.

Great burgers and their lemonade is very welcome on a hot Saturday afternoon! Don’t let the queues fool you, look out for a table and prepare for a bit of a wait - they’re made fresh and this isn’t McDonalds. It’s worth it. Their vegetarian herb burger is delicious and incredibly satisfying!

BGR is amazing - the burgers a re lovely and the team that shot only runs clean ship, but are also exceptionally passionate about what they do and how they deliver it. The effort that has gone into this business should be rewarded ! Get the chocolate milkshake if you can - it's not always available, but when it is, it's well worth it ! Plus, don't under estimate the power of a good vanilla. We all experienced the magic of vanilla when we were kids and this place take you on little trips down memory lane like that !

Best damn burgers ever!!! If you're looking for a place to have incredible burgers this is the one, it's like angels are dancing on your tongue, worth every single cent, I will never stop coming to BGR, everytime is more amazing than the last

A real hole in the wall. Don't judge it from the outside. Great no nonsense burgers that even have a Banting option (lettuce leaf buns). You can get great burgers from established and trendy restaurants or if you're hungry at 2 am get a basic Micky D's. BGR is neither of those. It's not fine dining or fast food, it's in between. It's charming, it's fun, it's bottomless lemonade and there's something about the place that says this is how burgers should be. You can't tell them how you'd like it done but you'll love it the way it is. Be sure to have the works, get some lemonade (finish it and get another), and if your diet permits don't skip on the fries. Side note: Parking has never been a challenge but it could be as there aren't very many spots, food doesn't long to prepare so you could take a chance parking against the wall.
