Reviews of Camps Bay Beach
Beautiful beach with nice restaurants, but I could hardly swim here, the ocean water was icy cold!!! But it’s a good for a quick dip in the icy waters to help boost your immune system ( not sure if that is true though, lol)
You have the view of the table mountain, Lion head mountain and the twelve apostles overlooking the beach. There is a tidal pool if you don’t want to swim in the ocean.
You can rent an umbrella and beach chair for $ 100 each and there lifeguards at the beach!
Great to walk and people watch. Nice views
Spent our last day in Cape Town at the beach. It was beautiful enjoyed our beach picnic. Water is freezing. 🥶
Camps bay has the most beautiful sunsets. And the water is super freezing, which is great (it has a lot of health benefits to take a dip in cold water)!
Luckily we arrived early to get a nice shaded spot before the weekenders arrived. It really got busy from 10am. I was surprised how much litter was on the beach. I guess the cleaners still had to clean up. People just leaving their rubbish behind while there is more than enough bins is unacceptable. Toilets were nice and clean. It was also comforting to see the City of Cape towns disaster management volunteers with an ambulance to ensure our safety. It is a beautiful beach, with great mountain views and a safe tidal pool to enjoy a family fun day out.
What a beautiful beach and it goes on with multiple little coves and other beaches further down. The beach is super clean and the water is crystal clear as a Blue Flag Beach. The water was very cold but still enjoyable. Hire an umbrella from the local guys for R50 and enjoy the shade. Lots of police line the roads and there are many restaurants that sprawl into the road and watch the action from there. There is a King and Queen throne which is a great photo opp. Absolutely awesome.
Nice and clean beach with crystal clear water for a family get together and fun..
Beach surfing activity is visible and best from time to time.
One of Cape Town’s best beaches. Great for catching a tan, but water is a bit cold.
A very good and romantic spot to see the sunset.
It is also very stunning with you see the big waves and feel the power of nature. The sand is super fine.
Just a few points to note:
It can be very windy;
I don't think you can swim there due to the big waves;
There may be mist of sand also due to the strong wind (not ideal for professional cameras).
Great vibe!
The most beautiful beach with the coldest water.
The cleanest beach with the best views overlooking fancy restaurants, 12 apostles and the lions head. So beautiful
Camps bay beach stands out as a breathtaking destination with its pristine white sands and panoramic views. The beach is a true gem, attracting visitors with its natural beauty and the lively atmosphere created by the many popular restaurants along the strip. During the holidays, it transforms into a bustling hub, offering a vibrant and festive experience for locals and tourists alike.
However, it's essential to note that during peak festive seasons, the area experiences an unfortunate increase in crime. Visitors should exercise caution and remain vigilant to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Additionally, the surge in crowds can lead to some individuals disregarding the beauty of the beach by leaving litter and filth behind. Despite these challenges, Camps Bay Beach remains a stunning destination for those who appreciate its natural charm and can navigate the crowds responsibly.
Beautiful ambience and clean water. Good for a family picnic and relaxation. No gate fee needed and that’s surprising given how well maintained the beach is. There are other side activities one can do like biking 🚴♀️, surfing, skydiving and a lot more. A place to be.
maybe the most popular beach in Capetown. But above all a wonderful place at dusk with blue sky and warm and colorful light.
Amazing beach that's right by a busy road. You can enjoy the views and quickly go up the road for a drink or meal
Very relaxing and beautiful beach! Also a lots of restaurants and coffee shops around the beach. Highly recommend!
One of the most beautiful beaches in SA. The parking and traffic situation is very annoying but if you're planning on spending the day there just arrive early and you should be fine. The beach itself is amazing.
The beach is nice and some lovely views. Lots of shops, coffee places and restaurants to enjoy. Certainly worth visiting, especially if doing the hop-on and hop-off bus!
Where everything is happening. Where everyone meets everyone...
Jam packed place.
All kinds wants to be here and enjoy the vibe..
Camps Bay is so vibey
This is my favorite promenade to go for a stroll and take in the beauty. Sunsets from this beach are spectacular to say the least. Also a great stretch of road to explore some of the nightlife spots after sunset. Great cocktail specials at numerous restaurants.
The beach front was clean, and the views magnificent. The fresh smell of the ocean and the gusging waves on a crispy morning never disappoint!
Wonderful and busy place with nice beach, nice vibes and café/restaurants!!!
Easy and cheap to reach by hop on hop off bus or by Uber!!
Camps bay beach has been voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It’s a beautiful scenic beach surrounded by restaurants, hotels and bars creating great vibes for people who wanna relax or chill on the beach and provides a nice view for pictures and videos
Beautiful beach, clear water, bars and restaurants all along the front. 👍🏼
Dozens of hawkers… changed the experience as a tourist, but we understand that they’re just trying to survive 😕
Camps Bay is one of the best bays in South Africa, very nice place with great views and many shops, coffee shops and restaurants. It is a must visit place in Cape Town. You can only visit here just to enjoy sunset. A gorgeous beach with mountain backdrops. Street hawkers are the only major disturbance they are so focused on their job that can make your time spoiled. Other than this you would love to enjoy a beautiful time in a gorgeous sea beach with beautiful people. Sofet and white sand will give you heavenly feeling. Along the path you will find expensive houses with world class architecture.
Bit of history of Camps Bay from Wikipedia, “Oudekraal is made up of a collection of tiny beaches sheltered amongst the boulders and a well established picnic area with lawns, Braais, covered seating areas with tables, benches and public toilets.
Lui Bay (also known as Witsand) is a popular dive site. In 1977 two scrap vessels, the Antipolis and Romelia, were being towed around the cape when their tow line broke in a storm. This caused the Antipolis to run aground near Oudekraal, while the Romelia floundered further south between Llandudno and Sandy Bay. The hull of the Antipolis is now visible at low tide.
Camps Bay Beach, a Blue Flag Beach since 2008, is the largest white sand beach in Camps Bay. There is a seasonal life guard station with toilets at the west end of the beach. The beach is opposite Camps Bay's main tourist hub, featuring multiple hotels, restaurants, and shops.
Glen Beach, at the far right of Camps Bay beach, is known as Camps Bay's best surfing beach. Short, fast rides and a small take-off area makes Glen Beach one of the hardest of Cape Town's beach breaks to surf and has resulted in a strong local atmosphere”.
The beach is very beautiful and everyone is enjoying themselves at the beach and very clean to and atmosphere is awesome and the white sands make the beach a stand out from the rest for me
Really nice beach and alot of restaurants
The beach is beautiful with white sand and some rocks
Do not dare to miss this place if you're lucky to visit cape town. This is one of my favorite spots in Cape Town.
An affluent suburb of Cape Town. During the summer it attracts a large number of visitors, foreigners & South Africans.
Amazing. Fresh air, Cool breeze, dolphins swimming around the beach. There are many location for to picnic, swim and barbecue. Easy to spot on normal traffic.
The walk next to the beach is nice and full of restaurants/places where to grab a drink and just enjoy the view (definitely worth to pass by here) but, we were a bitsurprised by the lack of « infrastructures » on the beach; ie brings with you some towels and be ready to be all time in the sun (no umbrella available), if you want to enjoy some sand
Very beautiful place to take pictures in is open as people there are friendly and it is not crowded
Its quite nice and clean with a good selection of shops.
Just be careful to go early because there is not a lot of parking and a lot of traffic. I went when it was overcast and had the whole beach to myself.
Can get a chilly Bath in the Atlantic ocean. Clean place too. One of the best beaches in cape Town. Sometimes it will be too cold.
Beautiful beach surrounded by good restaurants, very convenient and family friendly
Miami in Cape Town. Restaurants across the road, white sandy beach. And if u forgot your umbrella no worries there's rentals available.
One of the main stops to visit while in Capetown. On the background you have the mighty table mountain with the 12 apostles peak and on the other side is the beautiful Atlantic ocean. From here you can also enjoy a beautiful sunset. The camps bay stretch has many restaurants that offer Italian food, seafood. There isn't pick n pay. Visa le caffe, gelato place. The hop on and off bus stop is also here or you could just have a small picnic on the beach and enjoy the waves. (Picture was taken on a very foggy winter morning)
What a beautiful beach. Kinda full on weekends but super fun.
Perfect view from the promenade for sunrises 🌅 and sunset 🌇
Lot of restaurants for breakfast 🥞, coffee ☕️ and dinner 🍴
Cute vibes always lively and busy with amazing restaurants
We love this beach!
Very clean.
Cool Western Benguela breeze.
Beach chairs and umbrellas can be hired there for reasonable prices.
Beautiful Mountainous background.
Lots of restaurants and convenience stores are found around the area.
Scenic, an oceanside paradise. To its southeast, Table Mountain. To its southwest, the Twelve Aoostles, to its east, Lions Head. And the azure waters washing the pristine white beaches, palms trees, natural splendour. We love picnicing on the huge granite rocks, the call of seagulls, the freshness of the salty lazy breeze. It is as if time stands still. With a variety of touristy curio shops, restaurants, hotels, sunshine and South Africa 🇿🇦, a most lovely space for your African experience. But resembling a tropical island.
I loved Camps Bay . The breeze is rejuvenating . People are friendly and the unsolicited photographers taking pictures are also friendly
Initial stop was a disaster till we went to Hollywood Cafe. A great place good service.
If you wanna need some fun, freshness.
You may visit that beach.
In a one sentence, Wonderful.
What a surprise!
Its like going to Hawaii....
Beautiful Beach
Absolutely beautiful to spend a day here!
Amazing views, great pool, nice vibes!💗
Beautiful beach, only good to know that there is not any beach bar so bring cash!!
You'll love this and parking is always available.
Nice place Great view as well as house. Water was a bit chilly but was alright
Nice beach. A beautiful place where you can refresh your mind. A place to be when you want a refreshing vacation. But be careful of people who steal people's belongings we were once the victims
The place is great, clear and alive. The restaurants there are amazing, free street parking. Just overall a great place to bring your family, friends or even girlfriend.
Most stunning place in South Africa in my opinion, and I have travelled SA vastly and seen many great suburbs and nothing comes close to this, nothing
WOW! Beautiful!
GO! What are you reading this for? GO NOW!
The most beautiful beach and the coldest water I've ever seen!
Sunsets are unbelievable here!
The beach is for a good chill on a hot day. Any day is safe for a person to gather around with their family and friends. Alcohol and Drugs are prohibited. And drive safely and keep your cars locked at the parking spots.
Beautiful beach, 😍
Too much litter on the beach. Otherwise - world class!
The most beautiful and popular beach in Cape town, it has everything you will need from restaurants to free parking if you are into night live they got you covered. Hotels with the best view on the coastal area... It's worth a visit.
Camps Bay is a cool place to hang when the sun is out and scorching. It's not extremely crowded, the water is cold as usual. Table Mountain behind also makes for beautiful scenic views.
Beautiful beach ice cold water🥶
The place have one of the best clear water I have ever seen and the sunset ☀️ is amazing and it's not over crowded at all the toilets is amazing clean and it's very safe with 24/7 security patrol and police 🚨
Beautiful Beach!
always refreshing to visit that side
Very nice place, usually not overpopulated. I really love this beach, it has nice sand and very nice view. It's a very great relaxing place😊
Open roads (obviously bumpper traffic) but creates opportunities for sight seeing..clean beach and friendly atmosphere 💜
No words for this lovely beach. Peaceful and chairs and umbrellas are available.
A very clean and beautiful beach, the street is full of nice and upscale cafes and restaurants, and the neighborhood is safe, but the only drawback to the beach is begging. Many beggars follow you and do not stop begging even if you say I don't have any cash 😫
Beautiful sandy beach and great promenade with numerous restaurants. Parasols and loungers can be rented on site. There are also a lot of beach vendors selling their art to tourists. Often a bit windy.
Restaurant Recommendation: Be sure to check out Camps Bay Social Club if you want to eat out. The prices are much cheaper there and the food is great.
Beautiful spot for ocean views and rock clambering. Whales can be spotted if you are a little higher up. Also nice views (on the other side) of the "Twelve Apostles" mountain range and Signal Hill.
THE beach of Cape Town. Wide, with golden sand and turquoise waters. The entire street in front is full of bars, cafes and restaurants to enjoy the views of the beach and eat/drink something delicious. A great atmosphere is generated, there are very good vibes. There are usually quite a few street vendors. There is bathroom service and also chair and lounge chair rentals. Last fact: the water is VERY cold.
It is a nice beach with plenty of space. The sea is calm so you can enjoy the beautiful weather. There are a lot of vagrants, but they don't bother you that much. You can walk straight into the neighborhood and by Uber you can be in Cape Town in no time.
I've only been to Cape Town once, but we stayed here and I thought it was a beautiful beach, nice neighborhood to stay in!
One of the best white sand beaches in the world. Plus a magnificent view of the mountains! It can be windy sometimes, but it's usually super during the season. Across the road from the beach there are restaurants and cafes for every taste and income. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available. There is always plenty of space.
