Reviews of National Museum Bloemfontein
Loved this part of the museum was like being time warped back the late 1890 -1900 very cool the rest off the museum was also nice
Most beautiful place to see
It display everything
One best side to teach our kids about animals and our history
You gain knowledge every time you visit this place
Very interesting exhibits. Pity coffee shop was closed, but very enjoyable. Maybe some more interactive stations would ge nice.
I enjoyed the museum and the various exhibits, especially the solar system display, and upstairs "old town" displays.
I was happy to see that the displays were explained in. Few different languages, however I was left a little confused as to why so many of the braille plaques were behind glass, with no way of being felt by a blind visitor - it is possible that I missed something and that a representative from the museum may accompany you on a tour, however I didn't see any signage or information that would suggest this.
The museum is nice, clean and well looked after.
The exhibits is a bit old and can use some improvements. Some of the exhibits needs attention eg. "The bees" there were supposed to be live bees, but at the end nothing.
Other than that, if you are well into the history, then this is a nice place to come learn and collect info.
Friendly staff the day we went, many cool and exciting things to see and learn . The old pharmacy and other old stores were my highlights , a glimpse into yesterday. Many different animals showcased , rocks and minerals, fossils things to be expected at a museum, few sections displaying information and historical items from different cultures of South Africa. Parking available in front of the museum.
Worth the visit. One of Africa's biggest genuine dinosaur fossil collection. Some of the presentations are very old but still very unique. The replica victorian period town within the musuem is certainly a must visit.
This is a hidden gem of Bloemfontein.
For a R5 entry, you can see the most amazing exhibits.
Parking is a bit difficult, but worth the struggle.
Amazing exhibits on the history of BFN, which is extremely informative.
They have different topics they choose per quarter, well Worth it to book a session for your child. We did a session on the Birds of South Africa andeven I was amazed at the quality of the session. It was extremely interactive and my 5 year old enjoyed it immensely.
The quality of the animals on exhibit is astounding.
We've been there twice and will be back for more visits this year.
Very good place to learn history. Some exhibits were closed. Needs to be upgraded with interactive touchscreens to keep up with other museums
Bloemfontein' National Museum is a small time capsule of natural history which manifested in the heartland. It's not only interesting for students and adults. but it is also a fun place for children to encounter the wonders of natural history!
I have been there several times during the heritage days in a few past years and I also need a guided tour.
I love it there and I am going this year again with a bigger group this time. before was only with my family.
Friendly staff. The museum has added a few interesting exhibits during the past few years. If you have about 90 minutes to spare it's worth checking out.
Nice displays, the Animal section was my favourite, but the Gemology department was also nice. Only complaint is lack of some sort of tour guide, human or otherwise
R5 for entrance..gift shop is always closed.. the animal exhibits are not done that great (in comparison with durbans museum) but still a great place to go if you have nothing to do.
This place needs tour guides if it's to be declared resourceful, every thing has to be played on tape as for information, I liked the metallurgy part.
This was very interesting and very cool super nice historical things! 😀
Good experience for my family, I just wish it could expand and have more historical things to show.
Awesome place to go when you have time. Everything is kept is good condition and there's a wide variety of things

Children will enjoy this place also adults.
Wonderful experience for young&old. Great value for money.
It was my first at the and I had a very thrilling experience
I attended book launch of Mr Thibinyane. The Master Dreamer was excellent.
As much as one can expect from a museum. Would like more interactivity

It was informative and just spectacular to observe
Must see! Amazing
Very informative. Well organized
Comfortable. Very friendly staff.
Very clean and well maintained.
Interesting and very educational
So much information from this museum.
Always memorable
Very very interesting.
Awesome
Many books
What a nice museum, and that for an entrance fee of 10 rand. That's €0.50! There is a lot to see and read. For people who love geography, everything about the origins of the earth and plate tectonics. Do you like biology? Everything about evolution, and lots of animals. History? Also! Lots to learn about the different tribes in South Africa, and what distinguishes them from each other, and the history of South Africa.
There is parking space in front of the entrance. The entrance costs 10 rand per person.
It is a quite large museum, lots to see. Sometimes the route was a bit unclear and there was a lot of reflection on the glass. Otherwise good.
Perhaps the best museum in South Africa with a very correct exhibition. The curators of the museum are great professionals.
Here you can learn everything about Africa from the beginning to the present day.
Interesting science room with animals of South Africa.
The history of the 19th century is presented in the form of streets along which you can walk, looking into the windows of city residents, small shopkeepers, a pharmacy, a store, craft workshops...
Take your time, you will enjoy the knowledge you gain.
Many thanks to the people who worked on creating the museum.
We didn't budget nearly enough time for this beautiful museum. The time spent on the exhibitions makes it a pleasure to visit. Thank you very much for the friendly reception.
HOME SCHOOLERS they had a talk when we were there this morning.
Very grateful that the museum is in good condition. Our family visits often!
