Really and truly some of the best food I've had in Johannesburg hands down. We didn't even need salt or pepper. Phenomenal flavour profiles. The prawn toast was my absolute fave. We also had the muscles, incredible with a lovely kick to it, fried calamari, the carbonara and wontons, so tasty, coriander, chilli, wonderful. I cannot wait to taste the rest of their menu. The service is also just fantastic. If you haven't been there fix it expeditiously.

Acid Bar is amazing! The wine selection is outstanding and great. You get to learn about wine because that’s why they are the best wine bar in Joburg. The music is always fantastic and they have weekly events that are fire. 🙌🏾🤌🏾🔥 The people and atmosphere is so incredible and everyone is friendly and welcoming. We asked the waiter to surprise us with the food and those dumplings were in just Yummy!!! The short ribs were also really good. I’d suggest you go in a group of 3 and share meals almost each of you. However way works. Hope this helps, Enjoy!🙏🏾

An amazing atmosphere combined with an attentive team is only the first part of the experience. The natural wines paired alongside Japanese inspired small plates are a revelation. They’re “loadshedding proof” as well - most of the menu is available irrespective of Eskom.

We had an unexpectedly amazing experience at acid. The wine, the food and the atmosphere was lovely. The broth of the wontons was so good and flavourful, I want it in my life always. Eunice our waiter was such a delight! Thank you acid for a gorgeous afternoon!

The Good: wine selection is excellent, food had great flavour and the service (once dialed in) was fine. The Bad: Some seating problems, took about 30 minutes to get a drink order in and overall expensive given the experience. The Story: We reserved for Acid's valentine's evening, not knowing much other than seeing the restaurant in passing. They went with a set menu, which was a nice idea. Unfortunately the staff were simply not able to handle the complexity of this, a large queue formed with people waiting for tables (with bookings) during this time people being seated were mostly not being served, so things got off to a bumpy start. Once resolved service was smoother and staff were friendly. the main issue was that the set menu was expensive (think marble), positioning acid in the fine dining arena which it just isn't (or wasn't). Dishes were served cold, knowledge on the wine was average. We knew the price going in, and we're happy to pay for high quality food and service, but simply put Acid struggled to reach the high bar they had set for themselves. In retrospect probably a good spot for a nice glass of wine before moving elsewhere for dinner

Amazing food. Service a tad slow but didn't detract too much from the experience as it is an intimate restaurant. Definitely come here for a great food and wine experience. Yum

If you have a mouth with taste buds and a penchant for wine, this might be the place for you. All of the best things about wine culture with none of the pretence. A lovely light dining experience paired with wine. The food is not massive but it is delicious. We ate the mushroom potstickers and the baos. If veganism is not your thing the beef tatake (excuse the spelling) is to die for. They are delicious. Great staff, we even got a light french lesson to boot.
