Reviews of Tudor House
I came to Cape Town 1 time per year and every time I stay at Tudor Hotel. Tudor is an old Hotel but it's comfortable, price is OK, room is old bcoz this is old Hotel, food breakfast is delicious many kind of food, service is great, they take care guest very good.
End of this month I will come again.
Went there for a buffet style breakfast. The food was nice, but the service was average. Would I go there again? Probably not if I was paying.
Bargain Breakfast Buffet. Unlimited bacon for under a hundred rand. My review is meaningless compard to that fact.
It could be better. No private parking provided but the breakfast is awesome
I have never slept in here but i like their prices, very reasonable
Excellent breakfast especially the bacon, mushroom and cheese omelette.
Had a great time their breakfast was out of this world
Very good location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good value
A quiet place well located at the centre of Capetown
Not bad. Location is perfect
Lots of fun, good location
No safe parking
Staff was very helpfull
Old building, nice workers
Splendid
Personally I found this establishment very welcoming. |Half price at the hotel bar from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., many women come to eat there after work, so good meetings happen.|In the morning, very complete and unlimited breakfast. |The reception takes care of your reservations for entertainment and excursions.|Possibility of paying at the exit.|And very well located on Long Street. Colonial building, very sober. I appreciated it.
In the very comfortable hotel on the corner of Greenmarket Place you immerse yourself in an atmosphere of times gone by.... Managed by a very kind and helpful lady, it is convenient if you want to stay in the centre, a little less so if you have a car. rental but the nearby Christian Barnard hospital car park in agreement with the hotel will not put you out of favor! |Arrive early for breakfast, because sometimes when things run out they aren't replaced.
I stayed in this hotel for a week and the least I can say is that I don't think about going there again, and I don't recommend it to anyone unless you like bad surprises, yes you have to go there! ||The disappointments began the day after my arrival. In the morning when I opened the bathroom door, what was my surprise to discover a large cockroach at the bottom of the bathtub!!! I reported it to the reception who "kindly" explained to me that if there were lots of critters wandering around during the summer it was not the hotel's fault, the critters came from the outside (except that while talking with a member of staff, I learned that this cockroach problem was recurrent with them in winter and summer, in short!). ||Then, it's breakfast which despite the diversity of the choice offered remains poor, we can clearly see that the bread, the bacon and the muffins are low-cost, low-end products, and are also bad in taste ! ||On the third or fourth day I rediscovered a charming, very large cockroach at midnight and I asked to change rooms immediately as I couldn't sleep in the presence of the creature! Misfortune did not stop befalling me because the only room available that evening overlooked Long Street, a very busy busy street (bars, nightclubs, etc.) suffice to say that that evening I did not I didn't sleep!||When leaving the hotel, on the last day, I went to reception to return the keys and the lady furtively presented me with a bill which I had to pay even though I had paid the 'hotel online on booking.com and believed have everything sorted, as is often the case when booking online. I try to understand and she gives me an old piece of paper with what seems to justify me having to pay 200 euros more when I had already paid more than 300 euros on the internet! Bitter, I pay anyway but I understand very quickly after a few discussions with other customers that several were fooled before me!||The nightmare did not end the moment I left the hotel since the The next day I realized that I no longer had my perfume in my suitcase. I went back to ask the hotel if they had found it, they told me NO without having checked and added that the members of staff cannot be accused of having stolen my perfume because I cannot do it myself. prove that I had one in my possession! Very disappointed and not knowing what to do, I went home... an hour later I received an email from the manager, saying that the perfume had been found in the locker of one of the cleaning ladies and that the hotel was apologized for this “unique” case of theft! I did not accept the apology because I felt that I had not been respected as a customer and that my word had not been taken seriously from the start!||||All this to dissuade anyone who would like to stay in this hotel, Do not go there, or, if you have no choice, at least close your suitcase every time you go out because as the manager said in her defense, "the cleaning ladies come from the townships and have no manners" (a comment that I find lamentable by the way)!||||||PS: Oh and then there is no internet connection in the rooms or very little, I have never managed to connect! “Free wifi” is false advertising!
Hotel well located for those who want to be in the center of local life (at the foot of Green Market Square) but who, therefore, are a little noisy. We were in a family room: 2 spacious bedrooms + 1 bathroom . Good breakfast. Fair price.
We took a trip with family and friends at the end of 2014 to spend New Year in Capetown. We expected a lot of joy and fun, but what we had at the hotel was nothing but hassle. We arrived late at night and were a little scared of the place. The hotel does not have staff during the evening hours, only 1 employee is available to open the door, serve guests and welcome new guests. Upon arrival we had problems with the room reserved for the friendly family that was with us, they had a 7 year old child and what was offered to her was a sofa and not the extra bed that the couple had already paid for. It was long and time consuming, because the employee didn't know what to do, but it was the least of the problems. The next day, at breakfast, I was informed that I had been given the wrong room. I said I would change it without any problem, but it would have to be at that time because I had my whole day planned. They told me it couldn't be at that time because my room wasn't ready yet. In other words, my room was with someone else and they left me in a spare room to save more money and time. I said I couldn't wait, that I would leave and when I came back we would exchange rooms. When I returned at night, the employee on duty called me to give me the key to the new room, I thanked her and said I would make the change right then and there; It was when she told me that they had already made the change because the room I was in belonged to someone else and they needed it empty. That's when the stress started! I said it was absurd what they had done. They entered my room, went through my bags, took underwear from the bathroom, changed my room without my authorization! What if you had money, jewelry? Who would guarantee me that they would still be there? I sent the receptionist to call the hotel owner right away! She called him and he said that he wouldn't leave his house at that time, that if I wanted to speak to him on the phone. I picked up the phone and discussed it with him for a long time. I said that what he had done was illegal, that I was paying to be there, that the room was mine while I was staying there. The answer he gave me was: it's my room and not yours, here in South Africa things are different. Do you want to go to the police? Let's go together tomorrow. I needed the room and you weren't there (???). An ignorant German who spoke many barbaric things that I can't remember now. At the end he said: ma'am, I already apologized, what more do you want? I replied: part of my money back is the minimum! He said: you didn't give me any money, the agency did, I don't have any money to give you. That was the last straw. I hung up on him and told my father (who made the reservations) to deal directly with the agency. It was early in the morning and we were on the phone with the girl who sold the package to my father. My father had to identify himself as a superior in the armed forces, something he doesn't like doing, to see if it had any effect. This agency does a lot of packages for military personnel every year-end and was afraid of losing customers. The next morning, the movement in the cafeteria was very different. All the staff were very attentive and asked me if I wanted things and a very white lady (I later discovered she was the owner's wife) was moving around a lot. Until a receptionist, already a lady and very friendly, came to me and handed me a letter, a gift card, flowers and candy saying that her boss was giving me that as an apology for what happened. I thanked him and asked why he didn't give it to me in person. I kept it in my room and went out again, when I was leaving the elevator I ran into him and couldn't exchange 2 minutes of conversation because I was so angry. He came to want to brag about the gift card, I was only able to say Ok, thanks and left. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone!

The pluses:
Ideal location
Excellent service
Gym and swimming pool
Very affordable prices
International standards respected
Cons:
No change
Nice central location. Close to a stop for the hop-on hop-off bus and the market. Due to the location, there is quite a lot of street noise (4th floor and overnight stay during the weekend), the rooms are clean and spacious. Friendly receptionist. Extensive breakfast buffet.
The hotel is easy to find, the welcome is very charming, the rooms are spacious, and its location is more than ideal! ||In addition, the hotel provides secure parking at the price of 95R per day, which is not very excessive! ||In short: I recommend Tudor Hotel!!
Hotel is well located in the heart of Cape Town. Close to the entertainment area in the center. Nice staff and good breakfast. ||Negative point: a very humming exhaust system that disturbs the peace until late.||So bring earplugs.
Hotel with a central location and easy access to the tourist attractions of this beautiful city. Charming and offers comfort. Friendly staff and great service, they helped me with transportation before I even arrived in the city. I recommend.
Right in the center, average hotel, very friendly staff
Excellent stay.
The location is good, and you can go to the waterfront area by taxi for about 1000 yen. The colorful Marais district is within walking distance. There are also plenty of souvenir shops and restaurants in the surrounding area. The room had a bathtub, but it didn't have a stopper. This is a good hotel if you are planning on sightseeing.
Although the building is old, the hotel is quite dignified. The rooms are old-fashioned and the sound insulation is not very good. The location is convenient, just off Long Street. City sightseeing's Red bus stop is also nearby. The hotel staff was kind and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious.
If you're looking for a cheap hotel, well located and rooms to sleep, you've found it. It's not luxurious, it's old, the breakfast has few varieties, I suffered a little with the noise from a fair nearby every day.
We stayed at the Tudor hotel in the middle of April. The hotel is just off Long Street and has the daily market across the street. The hotel is old and the rooms were so-so and the bathrooms were bad. The breakfast quite OK. The staff were not trusted with change in the bar and the glasses were few and not much to choose from. The staff did what they could, I think. Well, I don't know if I will stay at this hotel again.
