Lights went put a couple of times which made working a challenge, but the guys responded quickly. Servers in the breakfast service were excellent especially the ladies prepping omelets etc.
Housekeeping is very slow. They knock on your door and wake you up before 9. I then go for breakfast and leave the hotel for a few hours to give them enough time to clean so I can return to made up room. Never the case. Returning hours later to find nothing done. Laundry even not collected when sign is placed on the door. Housekeeping manager needs to shake up the service
Not always easy to pick up my guests on motor cycles, the front court parking is scarce, especially if busses are around. The big revamp is also busy, can't wait to see it finished.
What a delightful hotel, friendly staff, well appointed, free shuttle bus to water front and great food at the restaurant, lovely stay thank you
Wonderful Hotel. Service and staff on point and friendly. Enjoyed my stay very much!
My experience at the hotel was excellent. From it's location, literally a 5 minute walking distance to Bo - Kaap colored Houses and another 15 minutes to the Alfred and Victoria mall in Cape Town. Offers a pleasant view of the city but more importantly... Sits on the route of the Red City Tour Bus... A great hop on-hop off experience and the Table Mountain Cable Car isn't far away. Furthermore, you could observe the weather conditions of Table Mountain if you get the right room... Right from your bed! Not to mention the buffet meals, very affordable even with a modest budget. I particularly loved the breakfast service graced by two very engaging chefs!
Place was great! We had a room with the best views! 👌🏾 Sad part was the service with regards to food was very slow, and waiters took long to give feedback on delays with orders😕 but they were friendly. The actual food when it finally arrived was delicious! 😋
The nature of my job tugs me on a global level thereby multiplying my human encounters. There is an enchanting list of souls I bumped into at Southern Sun Waterfront, which deserves to be italicized.
The first point of contact is always with the excellent Concierge team. The latter are naturally friendly and they all immediately make you feel at home and genuinely welcomed.
Check in was conducted swimmingly by a welcoming and smiling staff namely Petido, who made us feel at home instanter. She was also limned by her regardful and deferential nature. To boot, her attentiveness to details never went unnoticed.
A special thank you to Mac, Pedro Kassanga, Yonela from Front Office who never failed to recognise me. They always welcome me happily and with a genuine smile. Moreover, they always engage in a conversation, thereby, making the stay even more memorable and pleasureable. Always a pleasure to meet them!
It was also an honour and a privilege to be gladly and warmly welcomed by Candice Jones from the Restaurant/F&B. Highly professional, Candice Jones never failed to wear her genuine smile, be it with Her guests or fellow colleagues.
But the best hotel staff I have met during all of my stays is Petido, who is a Front Office Manager I guess. Her passion to serve runs soul-deep. Her demeanour is self-effacing, gracious, and polite. She is invariably courteous and soft-spoken.
This ever smiling and energetic Front Office Manager, left no stones unturned to ensure that the hotels standards and reputation are kept to their highest point. She is an examplary leader and a strong motivator. Her hospitality is unmatched and undivided. Keep the good job Ms Petido.
Well done everyone! Can't wait to be in your midst in a couple of days!

Overall a good hotel.
Breakfast chefs need to greatly reduce on high oil usage. Food is too oily. Everyday I had to voice-out on the stirfry dishes literally swimming in oil. Flapjacks are a great touch.
Concern on a continuous observation... concierge or front door staff must be consistent on assisting guests arriving at drop off. If the policy is to open doors for guests, it should apply to ALL guests irrespective of race or make of car.
Reception front line staff must be attentive. I ordered a 5am breakfast, filled out paperwork, but because lady was busy chatting with her colleague, my request was never processed and one had to leave with food.
Great hotel. Well located otherwise.
I like the location so much. Walking distance to the lovely waterfront.
We had such a great stay. Breakfast was fantastic and so many options, staff were on the ball. Dinner at the bar restaurant was great quality and very tasty, staff were great as well. Check in and check out was smooth. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Only complaints, was minimal storage in the room that is a 4 sleeper. We were so looking forward to the buffet at Yenzani all week. It was confirmed to me at the beginning of our stay that the buffet was on Saturday and again on the day at the front desk, what time the buffet started and all seemed good. We arrived at the buffet just to be turned away because of a private event...
The front desk failed to mention this to us, we were very disappointed.
Such a lovely hotel. Super close to a wide variety of restaurants and bars. Rooms are stunning. The pool area is incredible! Absolutely enjoyed my holiday here!
My overall stay was amazing. The staff was very professional - were always friendly and helpful. Food was fresh and healthy. Rooms were cleaned daily beds comfy. Love the swimming pool, gym and free shuttle. Really a 5 star hotel will definitely go back.
This hotel is located in a very convenient location. The room was well furnished with quality sheets and bedding. From the 14th floor you have a nice view of the city. The air-conditioning did not work 100%. Unfortunately I didn't get good service when I was there, it might be an isolated incident.
Is a good hotel..the staff are nice abd is in a good spot. They have a shuttle to the waterfront every 30 minutes. The rooms are nice and sone have a view of the mountains.
I only stayed for one night. My experience was excellent, though. The service was great, the room was clean and well equipped, and the food in the restaurant was delicious.
Excellent hotel with a great service and very friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay. Especially the lady at the breakfast buffet, who prepares the fried eggs, has improved our mood on every single morning. Almost 'contagious'. We will miss her. We need to come back, definitely!
Breakfast is excellent! We don't eat pork and beef and there was plenty else to eat.
Service is excellent! Very accommodating with any request. Staff go to great lengths to accommodate you! Will definitely stay here again😀
The price to quality ratio is good. The breakfast is varied enough that it does not get boring. They have a swimming pool, underground parking and a free shuttle to the waterfront which was very much appreciated.
They could work on sustainability. Towels were laundered every day whether or not they were on the floor. Worst was to come back one evening to find the lights on, window open and air conditioning on maximum. House keeping thus wasted several kWh of energy completely needlessly. This during a time of load shedding!!
Friendly staff with a lot of respect for guest and their families. I am over the moon to have stayed and choose these hotel.breakfast excellent with variety of light and heavy food !Clean environment designed especially for guest.Last not least 1 best receptionist buy the of LINDIWE derseve accolades for handling personal account for guest .Our hotel specials played a major role for guest to stay longer in these hotel.Lindiwe played that part .I'LL RECOMMEND ANY FAMILY MEMBER WITH CHILDREN TO VISIT THESE HOTEL ****
Great stay. Friendly staff. Parking rather expensive and no explanation was given on how to use the card to park your car under. But they were very quick to charge for parking the car in the parking lot overnight. Breakfast as usual, go for gold with the pastries. Outside the hotel, try not to be out around peak times like 4pm and 8am as traffic is a nightmare if you're trying to go out anywhere
Loved staying there. Food and service were excellent.
Really enjoyed my stay and had great staff experience. Mary-Anne made sure I had her best choice of breakfast and Thandi made my tea just the way I like it..... My room was comfortable and cleaned nicely on a daily basis.
Thank you guys
Wow, you can tell the staff is well oriented. I never saw a single unpleasant face throughout the entire 3 days we were there... and how can I leave out the amazing food. Kudos to you all!
Clean rooms, kind staff. The beds were not so comfortable. Shuttlebus to the waterfront runs every hour. Don’t expect luxury but if you are looking for a hotel just to sleep and go out again, it’s totally fine.
Had great time even though the weather was not conducive.
Very good hotel for our tour, good location, friendly staff, good breakfast and dinner, good room amenities
Staff needs training they don't look happy. Too many errors at check in. Hotel corridors smell cigarettes.
Food is great. Pool area populated by loud non- residents smoking shisha. Foyer was too crowded. Would not book into it again
I fell in love with this hotel. Everything about it was exceptional. The staff, service, rooms, decor, and location were absolutely a 5-star. If ever I decide to revisit South Africa, and I do, I will stay here. Oh, and it is a short walk to the V&A waterfront. And if you don't want to walk, they offer a shuttle service.
Overall it was a good stay. The location was perfect as it was a short walk to V&A Waterfront. The rooms were also clean and comfortable.
The only area that requires improvement is the breakfast setup. Things were a bit disorganised in terms of serving guests, staff seemed a bit overwhelmed.
Beautiful hotel that’s situated near the V&A waterfront. Check in process was quick and efficient. Hotel staff goes beyond duty to make you comfortable. There’s a shuttle to the V&A every 30mins. Forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste and the hotel had complimentary ones for guests. Didn’t have time to explore the pool that looked very inviting. Room service menu had a variety of delicious food🤤. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Cape Town.
This is a typical large city hotel, within 15-20 minutes' walk of the Waterfront (or hotel shuttle every 30 minutes). Staff are fantastic and food is great quality. WiFi is strong and fast throughout the hotel, and room sizes are large enough (2 double beds in a twin room)
hmmm, great location but as for the rest absolutely mediocre. Hotel is stuck in 2003 but charging 2023 prices.
You can do so.much better
Best experience and treatment received
Rooms well maintained. Nice breakfast selection. Outdoor pool small. Take care driving in/out of underground parking as space restricted. Friendly staff. Pleasant stay overall.
The service is very good, the stuff is amazing.
They can always improve by getting better beds, you know:)
One of my favourite hotels. Good location close to main roads and to tour Capetown. Shuttle service to waterfront therefor no need to find parking space. The shuttle will deliver you safe to the hotel after a night out in town.
You have to like the location and the staff are generally excellent. However the check in experience was less than good. When they give you the address of a man from Nairobi with the same name and say "oh that's ok" and then don't change it, you worry about security
Really enjoyed the bottomless gin cocktails! The service was amazing! We were never without drinks. A lively but relaxed atmosphere which is perfect for after work drinks.
Had a crowded stay whilst we waited for 2 days to board the MSC Musica which could not enter the port due to strong winds. Hotel staff were very efficient at short notice to handle the crowd when we arrived. Well done and thanks a ton guys.
Great accommodation, very friendly staff. Very nice breakfast with a large and varied selection of stuff to eat. Free shuttle service to the V&A Waterfront
The staff here are just brilliant! So kind & courteous, but always with a cheeky little smile that makes your stay comfortable and fun. Wouldn't hesitate to go back
Very nice Hotel, super friendly staff, good food and close to everything. The staff didn't recommend us going out of the hotel at night, but we felt safe during the day. Great view of the V&A water front or Table Mountain.
Staying at the Southern Sun Waterfront is always a pleasure, especially since the staff are so helpful and friendly! My aunt stayed here recently and she was so impressed.
The staff are very friendly & accommodating. The Breakfeast & Dinner Lounges are kept very neat. The rooms are comfortable.
It is a good place to stay. City conference centre is at walking distance.
Saray, a turkish restaurant is nearby.
It is near to Victoria wharf, a water front.
Peaceful
Lively breakfast
Good Internet connectivity
Amazing place to visit.good services provided
This hotel was amazing and I am so happy that I chose it!❤️❤️❤️
Great place lots to see and do, there's the usual high pressure cold sale trips around the harbour people, they make it look like a nice tour but my personal opinion is "its jus a boat on the water"
Great accommodation, friendly staff, good food and drinks for individuals business or family. Come and spend time here
Hotel located in the centre, right at the end of the N2 motorway, therefore easily reachable from the airport. It is a large hotel, with a lot of staff always on the move, kind reception staff who are generous with advice for dealing with a difficult city. The rooms are comfortable and functional, equipped with everything. The breakfast was excellent and very varied, there really is everything, sweet, savory, fruit, anything. The free shuttle service is very convenient and runs every hour (until 10.30pm) from the hotel to the waterfront (area of clubs and restaurants, and the only area where you can walk around safely in the evening) and back, so you can leave the car in the underground car park and avoid dealing with Cape Town's evening traffic. However, a stone's throw from Long Street, the main shopping street and starting point for visits to the city.
We spent 4 days in Capetown in this hotel not far from the port area. This aspect was greatly appreciated by my whole family, as the Capetown Waterfront, even in the evening, is a lively and safe area. The hotel room was very large (we slept in a family room) and the breakfast was rich.
Expensive for a service that leaves something to be desired|The location is good, yes|But for more than 300 dollars a night one expects something more|Small rooms and poor maintenance (windows that don't close, plugs that don't work, etc.). Room service that does not leave towels and does not take clothes to the laundry…|We asked for a one-night extension in a double room and they only extended breakfast for one person. |In short, a succession of little things that make you waste time on your vacation. |I don't plan to repeat
Structure in decay, old room with dated carpet, very small room, mini bar with nothing on the first day then they put water in, unpleasant staff and did not solve the problems that occurred.|Laundry in the room did not work, they did not collect the clothes, wi -fi not working for an entire afternoon.|Breakfast average.|It is not a 4-star hotel.
The Southern Sun Waterfront is a large hotel with a great location and overall well organised. The staff is very kind and always helpful.|The breakfast is very rich and of good quality.|The free shuttle that takes you to the tourist area of the Waterfront is very appreciable.|There is, in my opinion, room for improvement in the furnishings of the rooms and the common parts (a little dated).
Family hotel, very centrally located, pleasant atmosphere!|Very friendly staff. I would particularly like to highlight the massage and nail studio “Utopia”! Had an excellent manicure from Charlene and received very helpful nail care tips. Definitely highly recommended!
We arrived at the hotel at 9:45 pm because our flight was delayed. We ate really bad food, and in the middle of dinner, the hotel's power went out. The generator didn't work, we were left completely in the dark. We climbed the stairs in the dark to the 7th floor. There were NO LIGHTS in reserve at the hotel. We were treated extremely poorly. We depended on the flashlight on our cell phones to change our clothes. We were exhausted and slept without energy or anything, and we were going on a trip the next day. The power only returned at dawn. Bad breakfast and greasy omelet. At checkout, they said everything was ok. We understood that dinner would be at the hotel's expense due to the inconvenience, but then they came after us OUTSIDE THE HOTEL saying that they had forgotten to give us the bill for dinner. A shame and a lack of respect and preparation for guests. WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS HOTEL AGAIN
I stayed for around 20 days, the stay was good.
Bed, no complaints, you will sleep peacefully
Desk - you can work comfortably
View - I had a third floor, I looked towards an avenue, however the hotel is large and does have better views
Bathroom - could be a problem if the person is large or has some obesity problems since the bathroom is medium.
Curtains - perfectly cover the light
Location .- It is close to some tourist areas, shops and pharmacies, the power does not go out in this hotel, in South Africa there is a problem of power outages and this hotel never lacked supply.
We stayed at the hotel for a week. The dimensions of the room are not generous and, at night, I would like it to be better lit. The wi-fi worked satisfactorily. The breakfast (in a large location) was very good! Efficient elevators. The concierge service is very good. The shuttle bus to the Waterfront runs wonderfully every half hour in both directions. Attentive staff. Excellent choice. I recommend.
The Southern Sun is a very large hotel (mass tourism - completely impersonal). ||||We didn't feel comfortable right from the start - just as one of many. No friendliness at reception - this is really just processing. ||The service at breakfast was a complete disaster: no matter what you ordered (coffee, etc.) - you had to ask at least two or three times before anything happened. That was really annoying - no one really wanted to do it. But wiping tables with rags that are also used for chairs - we saw that here every day (seems to be normal there). ||||We had booked a parking space (it was even written on our voucher that it was included) and they insisted that we pay for it additionally. It was only after a long back and forth that they let us off the hook and made it clear to us that they were completely annoyed. ||||There is so much hospitality in South Africa - unfortunately not a single bit of it remains at SouthernSun! ||||It's a shame - never here again!
