Reviews of Parker Cottage
With so many B&B's and guesthouses popping up, it is easy to be overwhelmed or distracted with clever angled photos or marketing campaigns that stand out.
What a refreshing experience when I arrived at Parker Cottage.
Rarely has any venue or place had such a memorable impact on me. All my senses were considered and welcomed and taken care of on arrival. The visual beauty of the well-groomed garden has so much to offer, whilst, floral and fresh mountain air entertain the nose and fill the lungs. The tranquil sound of running water on the right is home and hosts the biggest koi fish I've ever seen!
A warm official welcome by the gracious hostess and owner, Pamela . A home away from home atmosphere. Attention to 5-star luxury earns Parker Cottage a stand out from the rest experience. Thank you to all involved or who contributed to our 5-star experience.
The accommodation and hospitality at Parker Cottage bed & breakfast in the Cape Town city bowl was absolutely flawless! Our room was gorgeous (we stayed in the Von Veh room), and the breakfasts were out of this world delicious. Phil was also brilliant - giving us advice on good Cape Town restaurants. Overall we had a wonderful stay at this Kloof Street B&B. We will be back soon, no doubt about it!
Amazing position in a quite neighbourhood, room amazing and super clean. Breakfast simply INCREDIBLE (yes, all in CAPS). A big shootout to The host -BRAVISSIMA!
Lovely hosts, great breakfast and clean authentic rooms. Nice and secure neighbourhood. Lovely porch for enjoying a drink. Can recommend 100%
Pros: Clean, central location, friendly staff, scrumptious breakfast, firm mattress, beautiful cottage and artistic decor, quiet and secure. Great value for money for Cape Town.
Cons: Can't think of any...!
Amazing! Thank you Pamela, Jamison and the entire team for a great start to our trip. This guesthouse is a true gem!!
We truly enjoyed our stay at Parker Cottage. Everyone was extremely friendly and we felt right at home.
Fabulous in every way! Great location, superb breakfast, beautiful decor, good nights sleep. The staff was friendly helpful and courteous.
Have been there a couple of times. Pamela, Tomas and the team offer a warm reception and superb service.
Really pretty comfortable place in a great location. Awesome fireplace in our room. Staff super friendly.
Great experience. Lovely staff. And stunning rooms.
Perfection...
Staff was super helpful, breakfast are delicious. We’ll be happy to return someday
Great service. Cute Victorian B&B with modern rooms.
It's rare to get more value than what you paid for.

All staff r very friendly they help u if where they can
Lov the place. Clean and central
Excellent place!
Thanks Pamela!
A small oasis with stylishly furnished rooms, comfortable beds and a super friendly team. The recommendations for restaurants in the immediate vicinity were great and we even made reservations for them. We'd love to come back next time we're in Cape Town.
Hotel owner Tomas and his lovely wife are very helpful. The hotel is in a central location where you can walk to many places. All other points are 3-5 minutes away by Uber. The location of the hotel is in a safe area, we left our car outside and had no problems. The hotel does not have indoor parking. The fruit salad and coffee served for breakfast are delicious. We were very pleased with our 1-week stay. A quiet and peaceful hotel. We will miss sipping our tea by the fireplace :)
A haven of peace in Cape Town! The rooms are clean in a beautiful house.
It's easy to access the city's various attractions, and there are nice places nearby to eat or drink.
We loved our stay. It's more than a B&B, they are worthy of the concierge services of large hotels. Pamela, the owner and her manager Thomas coordinated everything for us, booking a city bus tour, booking a guide for a tour in the townships, booking a private guide (Chris) for a wine tour, round trip airport-hotel. Museum recommendations, visit to Rubben Island, recommendations for restaurants within walking distance. We feel like we are part of a big family. All the employees are smiling and want us to have a great stay. The breakfasts are excellent! We highly recommend! Maryse and Lyne, two Canadian friends who wanted to see Cape Town before their safari! Thank you to Pamela and her team!
Very nice accommodation. Very good service. Always friendly and helpful with questions about restaurants and daily plans. Our room was very clean and nicely furnished. The accommodation is very well located. Uber takes you to all the important places in just a few minutes. There are many restaurants nearby. We felt safe even late at night and walked back from nearby restaurants.
Fantastic breakfast in the beautiful garden, very nice, lovingly furnished rooms, super friendly and helpful owners and staff, and a great location. We would absolutely recommend the Parker Cottage Guesthouse to any traveler to Cape Town!
Phil's friendliness.||We know that Phil speaks many languages, so we can say that being greeted with a warm welcome in fluent Italian amazed us and made us feel at home.||Upon arrival, guests find a small blackboard in the entrance hall with their names, a welcome phrase, an indication of the day's weather, and perhaps an invitation from Phil to join the aperitif on the veranda with South African wines and snacks, which he organizes once a week and which allows guests to meet, a truly pleasant and enjoyable initiative.||At Parker Cottage, everything is very well-kept. The house is period with splendid wooden floors, beautiful furnishings, important paintings, vases of flowers, a thoughtful choice of colors, and has a veranda and garden where breakfast is served in the warmer months.||The rooms are comfortable and also very well-kept, with the bathroom furnished in a retro style. There's great attention to detail throughout, and the cleanliness is impeccable. It's located on a quiet street in a residential neighborhood, yet a short distance from a lively area that feels very safe even after dinner, with good restaurants and bars. Phil, who seems to leave nothing to chance, has put together his own personal guide featuring restaurants he's tested, with information on type, rating, cuisine, and a map to get there. He can even book them for you, and for those further away, he'll have a taxi waiting for you right outside. We tried three, each with its own unique features, and they all turned out to be excellent choices.||Among other things, Phil arranges airport pickup and, upon arrival, finds time to sit down with new guests, offers a drink, and tries to help organize a visit to Cape Town based on the length of your stay, offering valuable advice and directions.||He arranges discounted tickets for Table Mountain and the Citysightseeing Red Bus, takes care of car rental for the Cape of Good Hope, and, last but not least, provides a walking tour of the city and its most iconic neighborhoods, starting directly from Parker Cottage, with historical and tourist information and commentary. Fantastic!||A final super positive note goes to the delicious breakfast, tastefully served at a perfectly and elegantly set table, offering a wide choice on a menu that also includes a "special of the day" that is always different, unique, and delicious.||The personalized service offered by Parker Cottage is the real added value compared to choosing a usual traditional hotel.||The position in the T.A. ranking is well deserved but, if it were up to us, it would be in first place!
This place is wonderful |The house is beautiful and tastefully furnished |A hearty and tasty breakfast is served every morning with variations depending on the day|Everything is clean and quiet |I just regretted that our room was a little small
What a great guesthouse. Friendly, personal service. Lovingly furnished rooms. Mega breakfast. I can only recommend it! 😀
The hotel has a unique location for Cape Town. Many attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. It's located in a safer area of the city, and the hotel has taken the necessary security measures. The rooms are comfortable, and the common areas are designed to meet our needs. The internet in the rooms is fast. Thomas and his wife are very kind and helpful. The hotel also offers breakfast.
B&B exceeded expectations thanks to the owners, Phil and Liz, and their staff who make the atmosphere very pleasant and familiar. From the moment you arrive you are welcomed as if you were at home, something to drink and then you are asked if you need them to organize trips for you, if you want a car... in short they help you organize your stay as best as possible. The rooms are very comfortable, large, well furnished and clean. But what distinguishes this B&B is the evening dedicated to tasting wines and local products (such as excellent raw ham and cheeses such as gorgonzola) spent in front of the fireplace together with all the other guests with whom we chat pleasantly.
Great stay, Great service. Extremely friendly, helpful, hospitable and I could go on and on. Super atmospheric, etc.||We absolutely enjoyed our stay with Phil and his highly valued staff. The rooms are attractive and beautiful, the bathroom is the same. The storage spaces are like coming home. The breakfast phenomenal. In short, if you go to Cape Town, a stay at Parker Cottage is highly recommended. We also based our choice on Parker on the reviews and nothing is too much to say.
We stayed at Parker Cottage for 6 nights and we enjoyed it immensely. Pamela, as the new owner since March this year, and her staff have really spoiled us. After a good night's sleep in wonderfully warm rooms (our group stayed in three of them), we left every day after a delicious breakfast (which was freshly prepared, with a very extensive choice) to explore Cape Town and the surrounding area. |It felt wonderful to come home to Parker Cottage every evening, with a roaring fire and stories to share with a delicious glass of wine.|Pamela, thank you for your warm company. Thanks to you, our stay in Cape Town was absolutely wonderful.|
Well located in the good and safe area of Tamboerskloof, a few minutes from the center of Cape Town. Parker Cottage is a typical South African lodge built in Cape style. The host Phil speaks fluent Dutch and creates the necessary atmosphere. Everyone is 'guest of honor' and a wine tasting is organized once a week. This is a nice opportunity to chat with the other guests and exchange South African experiences. The breakfast is very good; everything is fresh and you get large and tasty portions. There are daily 'specials' such as wraps or filled croissants, etc. You eat outside on the patio or inside in bad weather. In the kitchen you can take wine or other drinks; This works through the 'honesty principle' where you write your name and what you drank in a booklet. We had the Koi Pond room. Nice room with antique furniture. Equipped with a shower/toilet and two sinks. This room does not have a bath. The bed is king size and has a good mattress and nice bedding. Unfortunately (or perhaps not for the workaholics), the WiFi connection did not work in our room. We only had a connection in the lounges and on the terrace (not very stable). There is an external public access point for which you can get vouchers. However, we have not tried this. What we found particularly positive was that Phil asked for our feedback on possible improvements. Afterwards he even emailed us that they found our feedback valuable and had already made improvements. Top!
A very beautiful old house, convenient location in a quiet central area, small comfortable room, friendly hosts, wonderful breakfast on the veranda. Plenty of parking spaces on the street in front of the house. Definitely recommend!
Our choice of Parker Cottage was made because of the reviews. I must say excellent. Another nice bonus is that Phil speaks Dutch. The entire crew is super friendly and sincere! The breakfast is great and varied. Definitely try those chocolate croissants and if you like strawberries, order the fresh strawberry juice. The location is very close to the center, in a safe location. A private wine tour with Chris is also recommended (ask Phil). 1 day out with Chris and you get so much information about South Africa,||We will be back next year!!!
We spent three days/nights in this magnificent house.||Despite the absence of the owners, the welcome was very warm. The excellent breakfast is taken on the veranda of the house. Very, very pleasant... ||The place is very peaceful. A big thank you to all the staff at Parker Cottage.||If we were to return to Cape Town, we would return without hesitation.
Very, very friendly staff. We were made very welcome and spoiled every day
Very nice and characteristic cottage.|Excellent breakfast with very fresh products.|If you need anything Phil will take care of everything.|The waterfront is a 20/30 minute walk away. |In the evening there are several restaurants within walking distance or a two minute taxi ride.||Absolutely recommended.
We had reserved the very beautiful Paterson room (see photo on the site) six months before our arrival in Cape Town, despite confirmation from the owner and payment of the deposit for this room, the contract was not respected!!|| We were received by an employee (the owners were absent) and accommodated upstairs in a much smaller room with a total lack of soundproofing, we lived with our roommate.....total disappointment!|| The night was short..., the morning I asked the owner for another room, without success.||I remain doubtful given the praise on the internet and the owner's comment ''this type of accommodation is not suitable for everyone..... ..||It is true that this house is a museum with furniture from our grandparents.||The charm of this house is broken by important details which concern the soundproofing of the rooms, capricious electrical outlets, incidentally no fridge, television, but mainly, the non-compliance with the desired rental.||We left the property in the morning, without additional cost, but paying the high price for a quality room that we did not have.||We migrated thanks to booking. com to a four-star hotel an equivalent distance from the city center in the Newholland district (quieter) at the same price with a magnificent park, mountain view, swimming pool, parking, etc., and thus end our vacation in the best conditions .||In our tour, we had only booked private houses and we met serious and respectful owners of negotiated rentals
We recently stayed at Parker Cottage. It's charming and well-located. Although it's in a quiet area, there are excellent restaurants nearby. We were warmly welcomed, and the breakfast was excellent.
We stayed at the parker from 12 to 15 March 2016, we practically felt at home despite being over 10,000 km away. In the splendid setting of one of the most beautiful cities in the world we received attention and information from Phil who is the owner and among other things he speaks perfect Italian and gave us excellent suggestions for the continuation of our trip with extreme friendliness, thanks also to all the staff led by Thomas who was perfect in everything. What can I say about the structure wonderful throughout, cleanliness and functionality, excellent breakfast, if you wanted, there was everything, water, tea and coffee, available free of charge 24 hours a day | We wouldn't know what else to add, our best compliments and thanks to you all | Pino and Lina | From ROME
I love to be spoiled on holiday and here you really are!||We stay in room number three nguni, super fresh, small but very nice.|The pictures are deceiving, it is so much better in real life. The courtyard fantastic, sitting out there in the morning, wonderful! |I was skeptical before but as soon as we got here everything felt good.|The breakfast, the service, the staff - absolutely flawless! |
Cozy rooms, with even a fireplace, in a historic house.||The “specials” at breakfast are definitely recommended.||Friendly staff who give tips to fill your day with activities.||Not far from nice restaurants .||Top location!
We ended our South Africa trip in Cape Town with Phil and Liz, we had such a fantastic time there that we wanted to stay much longer. Nice evening with wine tasting on the veranda together with other guests. Thanks also to Dennis and his lovely wife! Britt and Lennart Persson
