Reviews of Oudtshoorn Inn
Very hospitable. Allowed us an earlier check in. We had access to the breakfast even though we had not fully checked in. The hotel is old & in need of renovation but the beds were comfortable. The staff make up for anything lacking in the hotel. Top notch service, friendliness & helpfulness.
We were a group of +/-48 ppl(incl kids). Rooms were comfortable. Had a pool facing room. It's not a 5 star hotel but was comfortable and the hotel was fully booked. Lift is a bit creeky but does the job. Staff was accommodating. Allowed us to use their walk in fridges. Breakfast included. They stumbled a bit on day 2. I think they over booked breakfast & ran out of a few breakfast items. Booking was in Dec. Weather was great. We walked into the town for a MrP store. Little Centre nearby where they have a Fish Aways, KFC, Bootlegger, Milky Lane, Pnp and a few other stores. The hotel was fairly central for the places we wanted to visit. Cango caves, Cango wildlife ranch and ostrich farm. Rooms were neat and got cleaned each day. Coffee & tea in the rooms, clean towels provided. You need to bring your own pool towels though. The hotel is neat and clean. As I said not a 5 star hotel but clean enough as a base for your stay. Wifi didn't work that great. They have tennis courts and a volleyball area.
We were unexpected guests so the room had no dust bin, less than half a toilet roll, no furniture except for the TV stand but it was very clean. The shower/bath needs an update. The staff and breakfast made up for that which was lacking.
I am writing this review on behalf of my parents in-law who stayed at your hotel this past Friday 22/07/2016. They had mostly good things to say about your establishment. For the price they paid it was really worth it and the Mediterranean breakfast was delicious. They definitely would come back again. The only issues that bothered them was that they air-con in the bedrooms was a bit noisy and the blankets on the beds was not very sufficient in terms of it not being big enough for the size of the beds. I personally am planning to stay at your hotel in the near future. Thank you so much and keep up the good work.
The hotel is clean and staff is friendly. I was disappointed that the bar is permanently closed, it was extremely hot during our stay and would have loved an ice cold beer. There was not, to my knowledge anything available to drink (besides complementary tea and coffee in our room), a vending machine dispensing cold drinks could have worked wonders.
Not modern but that is where the charm is, we love this hotel, good value, good food, spacious rooms, big pool, friendly helpfull staff. All the boxes ticked.||By the amount of tour busses a favourite for them as well
Good location and friendly staff. The rooms are clean but the place is quite old. There is a lot of noise from other guests. I don't think I would stay there again.
Unable to use wifi service. Network was overloaded till after 04h00. Place is clean, neat and i will definitely return.
Clean and friendly staff.

This place has potential but needs modernising. Staff very friendly and helpful.
I stayed overnight at the Oudshoorn Inn - everything was perfect, from our rooms to our meals.

Hotel
Good
The hotel met basic requirements.
The dinner wasn't that tasty, but the breakfast was good.
This was the second stop on a South Africa tour. It's a typical stop for tour groups, so buses arrive and depart accordingly. We only stayed one night, but that was enough.||||LOCATION: Oudtshoorn itself is a small town. It's provincial, with no high-rise buildings, wide, checkerboard streets. During the week, it's correspondingly quiet; the nearest shopping center takes at least a 15-minute walk. There are two or three restaurants and a few bars within a 5-10-minute walk. That's it. You don't stay here for the town, but rather for a stopover or excursions into the surrounding area. It is located at the intersection, which is already quite busy (more so during rush hour, quieter otherwise). FACILITIES / SERVICE: You can tell from the outside that it is not a new building. The hotel is already a few years old. It is more reminiscent of a motel like you would find in the USA. The interior is also noticeable. It was like a journey through time in terms of the furnishings. It is a shame that not much has been done there; money needs to be put in and the hotel needs to be spruced up. But if I can allocate quotas to local operators, thus getting rid of them and always being full, then I don't necessarily have to refurbish everything. Most guests are tourists from abroad who stay one night and then continue along the Garden Route or, conversely, towards Cape Town. It was clean overall, but in far too many places it was lackluster and soulless. You can also hear its age, not only when you get into the jerky elevator, but also the cars around it, and the rushing water in the pipes when The neighbors next door or upstairs were showering or running the sink. There was no safe in my room, but there was air conditioning. I didn't use it, though. It was very old-fashioned and functionally furnished. Again, the problem with the sockets. Despite a multi-plug adapter set, only the socket for the razor in the bathroom worked. The Wi-Fi is free, but not the strongest. Oh yes, the bed was very comfortable. I didn't use the TV. The pool area wasn't that inviting, but I only briefly went outside on the terrace for breakfast. I didn't go in the pool. I didn't use any of the hotel's other services. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was so-so; manageable and not really of the best quality. And considering that at least three tour groups were checked in, there was always little on the serving plates. As a result, they quickly ran out (cheese, etc.), and refilling took time. The same applies to the pre-brewed coffee from a pot. The staff had a hard time with that. afterwards. I didn't find the products of convincing quality either. Well, on the other hand, for a 3-star hotel in the provinces, it was still acceptable. CONCLUSION: The hotel is adequate for one night and a stopover. Again, it's difficult to assess the value for money, as it was part of a package tour. I would stay there for one night if it were cheap, because I know I shouldn't expect much.
We stayed here for 2 nights on a tour. Unfortunately the hotel has seen its best days... a renovation is urgently needed. ||The building exudes “prefabricated building charm” and is simply worn out from A to Z. The staff was friendly, nothing to complain about. ||We didn't eat in the hotel, so I can't judge that.||It was okay for the two nights, but I wouldn't feel the need to stay here again.
We were a group of 25 in February 2013. This hotel was our obligatory stop. Old hotel even if the furniture is new; worn carpet; faucets that work very poorly; few TV sets; despite everything good service; swimming pool not cleaned; difficult to open our door - it gets stuck; when leaving in the morning, we found a large cockroach on our suitcase; not recommended.
The heating worked and despite the fact that you couldn't close the window completely, it wasn't cold at night. The rest of the hotel appears old and run down. The curtains were no longer white. The wine in the bar wasn't tasty and the rest of the offering was rather meager. We do not recommend this hotel. The breakfast was ok, but was rather poor compared to other hotels.
Pretty worn out, getting old. The elevator announces arrival on the right floor with a loud clatter, the floor in the room is dirty, no hairdryer, no heating (we were there in autumn when it was 15 degrees). The employees are, as usual, friendly and helpful.
This was the worst hotel during our trip. The bar is an imposition. The rooms were just fine. As a private guest we would never go there again, there are certainly better hotels. If you can, you should book something else.
There was ostrich at the buffet. The corkage fee is over R100. a little expensive. You might as well take the hotel wine. Lots of Chinese because they take flying lessons at the nearby airport. There are takeoffs almost all night. But we don't hear them much. Old hotel but clean, Small buffet.
The hotel was used for overnight stays only. It was the worst I've been to in my 14 days in South Africa. It looks like the hotel from the movie "The Shining". Very long and dark corridors. 1980s decor. Everything very heavy. Reasonable cleaning, as was the breakfast. The city also looks haunted. But it's worth visiting the Cango Caves and Cango Wildlife Ranch.
This hotel is located on one of the central streets of Oudtshoorn. It is an unpretentious hotel, with just enough to spend a comfortable night. Breakfast is decent. It is advisable to go to this town to see the kangoo caves (they are worth it) and some waterfalls that are before arriving (they are called Van de vende) that do not appear in the tourist guides. There are many ostrich and angora goat farms. If you're lucky (like us) you can even catch century-old tortoises.
As soon as we arrive in front of this hotel, you feel a feeling of abandonment! The surrounding area is abandoned and neglected. Location right in front of a busy avenue. |The interior, unfortunately, confirms this impression: old, unsanitary, dirty (cockroaches in the toilets).|Stained carpets, dirty floors, damaged walls etc...|Only the bedding raises the standard.
The hotel is well located within walking distance of the center. There are several restaurants nearby. We had a good room, nice breakfast buffet. Beautiful garden with sun loungers and a spacious, clean swimming pool.
If I look at my previous stay and I look at the standards now it is definitely worse
Room and bathroom services correct.||Traditional international catering, classic but correct.||Friendly and complete breakfast buffet.||Attentive staff||Good choice for a stopover as part of a a circuit
Very unattractive hotel from the outside, but the inside was not too bad. Room spacious enough, bathroom ok.
The reception staff does not care much about understanding those who speak little English but the rest is great, the hotel in general is very pleasant, the breakfast is good and the outdoor spaces are excellent.
It is more beautiful on the inside than it appears on the outside. Everything tidy and a good breakfast. Also a nice bar.
Old hotel but well preserved. Rooms were clean.
Breakfast buffet manageable but good.
Old hotel but well maintained although the bathroom drain was clogged. The rooms did not have internet.
