Reviews of Altona Lodge
We had a great stay here. The location is great as its close to all of Cape Town's activities. The rooms are clean and have electricity during loadshedding. Our host Michael was very kind and gave us info and tips. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend Altona Lodge to everyone!
Altona Lodge is a fantastic B&B! We truly did enter as guests and were made to feel like family. Mike and Catherine who run the place are super friendly and very helpful. The beds are comfortable, and the breakfast is always fresh and consistent. The lodge is situated close enough that u can walk to the V&A ! I would recommend parking your vehicle and using an uber to wherever you need to go. Keep up the outstanding work if could rate you guys 10stars i really would.....
Wendy and Peter are perfect hosts and everything has been working fine while visiting Cape Town. It's been 3 days since I arrived with a group of 10 people. The rooms are simple but there's service and even the day we forgot to make our bed, they were made for us. The breakfast is very tasty and plentiful. The internet connection is imprecable as well.
Peter and staff need to provide face clothes/makeup towels/guest towels.... and kindly inform guests that the advertised double room actually mean x2 single beds put together into a double.NOT a double/queen bed! #false advertising. Alternate room was right opposite the Reception area sadly.
Atleast also provide the rooms with menus or ordering menus that guests can use for the area. Only option was to google Debonairs or pay for their R80pp breakfast. Sadly...
Overall, the lodge is tidy and nice entrance. Welcoming and friendly.
Parking is off street ONLY. Safe area though....seemingly. or rather fortunately. Thank God.
Had good WiFi. And the host Peter was great! Easy walk to the beach and restaurants. Sink in room with clean drinking water is a huge plus! Would defiantly stay here again!
Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Newly renovated and upgraded, with en-suite bathrooms and kitchen. Walking distance from V&A Waterfront, restaurants and public transport.
Beautiful setting, very hospitable, clean and comfortable. Friendly service and accessible !
Comfortable guest house with friendly staff. Good breakfast. Well situated in Greenpoint.

Wonderful place
The accommodation is a great B&B. The employees are very friendly and accommodating. The hosts can give you good tips and are very welcoming. We felt very comfortable. The breakfast is simple but delicious. You definitely can't go wrong here.
Ideal location for visiting Capetown. Green Point Park, just a stone's throw away, is very pleasant. The owner and employees are charming, smiling and attentive to our needs. The buffet breakfast has everything you need to start the day well. We will come back without hesitation
We stayed here for three nights in April. The house is very nice and has a good location close to Green Point. There's parking right in front of the door, so you won't forget how to drive uphill after that π Our room was relatively small but nice. Everything you need is there, including fresh towels every day if you want them. The carpet and furniture are a bit dated, and the dusting could be done a bit more thoroughly. β¬60 per night wasn't a bargain, but it seems normal for Cape Town at this time of year. The owner is a nice and helpful guy.
Very nice guesthouse close to Sea Point and Green Point. Beautiful room, in a quiet area. Very friendly owners and staff. Good lunch
I recommend this guest house. Wonderful service from Peter and his team, clean room, we had everything we needed and in a very good location, around 20 minutes from the Waterfront, 500 meters from Main RD M61 full of restaurants, tip don't miss Gioanni's Deliword which is used to buy food and have breakfast. We stayed for 5 days and felt at home. A charming little house with few guests on a quiet street made the atmosphere even more exclusive. Breakfast was charged separately, 80 zar, but it was very complete and delicious, an excellent alternative. And if you want something lighter or more affordable, Giovanni's is just a few meters away.
we have just spent 4 days (with 2 couples of friends) at Altona Lodge.Peter and Wendy did everything to help us organize the visits with great kindness.Very quiet and well located guest house, clean and comfortable rooms, bedding flawless . After 3 weeks in South Africa, the breakfast is by far the best value for money we have found, same for the price of the rooms. Highly recommended address
Very good hotel: simple but beautiful room. Very well stocked buffets. Very interesting safaris. We inevitably see animals (the advantage of a private reserve) ideal place for families. The pool is freezing though! Useless! Superb playroom for children under 3 years old.
cottage very well located, close to the city center, comfortable room but for me it was a shame to share the showers and toilets - however: very good value for money, ||Peter, the manager is perfect in his role, charming, welcoming , ||If I return to Cape Town, it will be at Altona Lodge, I had an excellent time there with my 2 sons. We have very good memories of this place.
Very hospitable! Peter, Craig, Wendy, everyone is very helpful if you need to arrange activities, taxis or whatever and the atmosphere is friendly. Rooms are very neat and spacious, breakfast is very extensive and the whole radiates tranquility. ||||Located in Green Point within walking distance of the ocean (and fantastic sunsets!) and Green Point Park. The V&A Waterfront with all its activities is a little further away, but is also within walking distance. Bus stops very close by for the short journeys to the centre, Table Mountain, Seapoint or further to Camp's Bay or Hout Bay.||Several restaurants on Main Road.||||Wonderful place to call home after a long day of wandering around Cape Town or the surrounding area to come.
The operators were very friendly and helpful, even before our arrival, with information via email about rental cars, etc. The airport pickup was also organized in an exemplary manner and at a fair price, unlike the local operators. They also repeatedly arranged taxis and restaurants, as well as providing recommendations for our stay.
In general, the Lodge offers a basic, acceptable service, in line with its price. It is located near the Cape Town World Cup stadium, near the signal hill and relatively close to the Waterfront. However, the quality of service from reception staff and Management (possibly owners) is terrible, they are rude and yell at guests. In our case, we had paid the rooms in advance for 2 nights, the first night we had a deviation in the trip and it was not possible for us to arrive, we accepted the loss of the money because it was our responsibility not to arrive, but having paid for the second night, We hoped to arrive and be able to stay without problems. When we arrived we were greeted with shouts by the receptionist, who in turn called the Manager who shouted at us again for arriving the second night and not having notified, I repeat, when the nights of 3 rooms had been previously paid for. The reason was that they had already resold one of the rooms and now they had problems hosting us. They eventually resolved it by offering us a room in an adjacent accommodation, but that was after about 1 hour of being scolded and yelled at by the service attendants. We would not return even if they offered us free accommodation.
Very good lodge
Great house
Super clean
Very well maintained
Good breakfast
Gladly again at any time
Simple and wonderful! Delicious breakfast. Super varied and plentiful. The service is spectacular. You feel like you're staying at the home of that aunt who adores you and you love her!!!! I loved my stay there...and when the city's water problem is resolved, I'll stay there again. The location is great! Don't forget to ask for tips, including where to exchange money with excellent rates!!!!
It is a homely address. Close to the center, eateries, etc.|We had a communal shower and toilet, which were located at the end of the hall. 3 showers and 3 toilets. Good for each other.
Great lodge in a central location with super nice staff
Very well located place, pleasant and cozy environment in which we felt at home, fully equipped with utensils in general. Very attentive staff and available to help and answer questions at all times.
Excellent budget accommodation in a quiet area of Cape Town, close to many restaurants. Very friendly owners. Fantastic breakfast.
ideally located, close to the center, very good value for money - clean, comfortable and very warm welcome!
