1. We stayed for one week in a top unit with a shower. Not exactly what was advertised on Vitality Travel (through Discovery Bank) and will also get this through to them. 2. The unit was clean but very small and the kitchenette had the bare necessities, the toaster had to be replaced and some other small stuff. 3. I just can't understand why all the places you get has this PC screen size TV! Spend some moola and get nice bigger screen TV's. Had to close up the kithen windows as you could see into the bedroom from the outside. 4. The cleaning staff very friendly. 5. Thus this no more than a 3 STAR rating for me.

Enjoyed our stay very much, was our first stop during our honeymoon, lovely place. Thank you to the ladies who still came in daily to clean and neaten up the place. Highly recommend. Stayed in a double storey with a spa bath! Very spacious, neat and clean. So glad we able to book 2 nights additional from our original booking. Great view over the Knysna Lagoon!

Very awesome Cabin Living, situated in Knysna, the view of the lagoon and Thesen Island is spectacular, everything was perfect at this location, the only thing I would recommend the owner should do, is to place atleast 2 cans of gas for the portable gas stove, we only had one and because it's a self catering unit we made all our food on site, after the first day of our three day stay, the gas ran out and we couldn't cook after that. Other than that I would recommend this place as the top 5 places to stay in knysna.

Abalone Lodge was fantastic! I had an awesome time during my stay. The check-in process was quick and efficient. The lodge offered excellent amenities including Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a balcony, and braai facilities. The best part was the daily cleaning service that ensured everything was spotless and provided fresh towels. The location is also very central, making it easy to explore everything in Knysna. I would highly recommend Abalone Lodge to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Knysna.

Very well maintained, upmarket, friendly host and close to the Knysna city centre - without being in the chaos should you go in peak times, and just overall quiet in the off peak times. Some very good views of the lake. Accommodation is self catering, and there is no restaurants on site. Should you drive a big truck, then just notify the the host as they can try and accommodate you with a unit that has better parking, the units in the corner could get tight for 4x4 vehicles.

I will HIGHLY recommend Abalone Lodges to tourists and locals for the perfect breakaway! Rooms are very clean, proper equiped, heaters and aircons, very clean bathroom with spa baths, and ontop of it all it's VERY affordable. Having just returned from our recent garden route adventure, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everybody at Abalone; the cleaning, maintenance and admin teams. This has been our fourth visit and still as magical as the very first time. For anybody considering them, we were immediately sold on the opportunity to stay in a wooden cabin but that view was the cherry, chocolate sauce and sprinkles on top. And has since become our default accommodation choice whenever we can spend some time in Knysna. There are cheaper options and definitely a lot more expensive options so some specifics if you need a little more convincing. The booking process was super smooth, even after we made a later change, all the paperwork were perfect when we arrived. The cleaning staff are very discreet and thorough. Maintenance was being done on the one unit but they started late in the morning and wrap-up early so as they cause the least amount of inconvenience to the residents. As far as amenities go, we’ve now had the privilege to stay in both the semi-detached and the double story log cabins. All are tastefully decorated with just about everything you could want or need. What makes Abalone great for any size family is the different accommodation options. Starting from individual cabins, to a full-size house. My favourite is the semi-detached cabins, you can get one, two or three and turn them into an interleading house, depending on how many people are travelling with you. And lastly, because of their location, you can travel 50km in any direction and find hundreds of different things to see and do along the garden route. For us it is not a choice if we will return to Abalone but rather when.

Such beautiful cottages. We stayed in one of the smaller ones, and everything was so well placed that you have everything you need. Really nice veranda to sit on in the evenings and there are braai spots behind each cabbin. Will definitely return if we end up in this area again

It's well appointed, has decent quality appliances, and great views of the lagoon. There's a small pool too and each unit has a braai area outside. It is a nice base from which to go out and explore knysna and the surrounds. Both my wife and I experienced bed bug bites that left us itchy and uncomfortable. On a few occasions, there was a strong cigarette smell coming in through a shared wall from a neighboring unit. Other than that, it was a good stay.

Value for money! The views were amazing! We were told to pick the hotel furthest from the pool for visitors with kids. Best decision - we could barely hear anything and didn't even know there were kids!

Located about 3 km from the center with a view of the lagoon. We had 2 chalets, 1 had already been renovated, the other had not yet. About time, doors were stuck and the bathroom was a bit outdated. Renovated chalet had an excellent shower. There was also a small kitchen with all amenities. Nice swimming pool, pity there were no pool towels.

Positive points: Exceptional view, balcony, comfortable bed with quality bedding, good shower.||Negative points: Location (car needed for everything) and the fact that coffee is not included, but it has a well-equipped kitchen.

The lodge is very nice, about ten minutes from the center of Knysna. The room was a bit small, perhaps staying there for more nights could be a point against it, but it is definitely clean and comfortable

Abalone is very well located, close to the town center of Knysna. The chalets are very pretty and well equipped. The view from the terrace is superb: ideal for a beautiful sunset over the lagoon. Parking for the car.

If you have a room with a sea view in the main house, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the bay and watch whales from here. Wonderful room, a wonderful bathroom with a glass wall to the room. We didn't miss anything here. Dinner is also highly recommended.

Super nicely furnished "houses" and perfect for exploring Knysna and the surrounding area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean! The kitchen has everything you need to cook yourself! Also great with children!
