Reviews of Mediclinic Kloof Hospital
Best staff ever! From admission to the rooms and theatres! It's clean the food is great and everyone has a personal touch! I would highly recommend this facility to anyone with medical issues.
I’ve been in many hospitals and this one was by far the best. From the ER admission staff to the nurses in the medical ward, everyone was super kind and attentive.
Would highly recommend for pregnancies and deliveries. The staff are professional and friendly and will look after you and your child in the best possible way.
Very clean and friendly.
Excellent hospital.
Pls just put up a sign with drs names and room numbers!
Staff were very proffesional and friendly. They went out of their way to make my stay comfortable
My name is Anna, I am 31 years old, living 300km from Pretoria in the heart of the bushveld. I am a wife, a mother of 2 small children, full time employed and… since the 8th Oct 2022 a stroke survivor. Thanks to the unbelievable team working at Kloof Mediclinic.
My story is long, but in a nutshell what happend to me was not supposed to, not considering my age, lifestyle, and habits… though it did.
I had an Ischemic stroke in my Basilar Artery leaving me with damage to the Pons part of my brain with physical trauma and damage to the left side of my body affecting my walking, speech, sight, hearing, swallowing etc.
I am grateful to my Saviour that we reached the hospital in such short time and for the swift action of the ER staff. I cannot imagine what my condition would have been without their care in those sensitive, critical and crucial hours after the stroke.
The word ‘thank you’ feels empty for the amount of gratitude it is meant to convey, with tears in my eyes… so truly, to every doctor, surgeon, specialist, speech therapist, audiologist, physical therapist, nurses, porters and radiologist that carried me through these 10 days I say Thank You!! May God bless your steps, guide you and strengthen you all the days of your lives with the never ending task you have taken as a profession.
I will never, in my life, forget how good you were to me during the my darkest moments.
I thank the following people by name, even though there were countless staff members who's names I don't know:
#Dr. Sonja Stocks
#Dr. Van Graan ESJ
#Dr. L Nel
#Mrs Mariet du Plooy
#Mr Kgabo Masoma
#Mrs Sasekani
#Mrs Therésa Olivier
In loving gratitude,
Anna 🪷
I went to the Kloof hospital's ER with double pneumonia. Doctors and nurses here were wonderful. Diagnosed me and got on with getting me admitted and treated. I went into high care. Nurses and sisters here are attentive and caring. The problem arose when they needed to use an oxygen machine they had never used. They tried everything, even fetching the ICU staff to help them. How can the hospital have staff that have not been trained in using certain machines? I found the whole process intrusive and very degrading even though I understand that they were trying to get me better. I found them forceful with no understanding of customer care.
Then we come to the general ward sisters. These don't really care about patients. They are unfriendly and everything seems just too much effort for them. The ones that seemed more caring were the night sisters.
Even though I did get better and was discharged in much better health, I think the doctor was the hero. Yes there were some sisters that were excellent and I'm sorry I can't remember their names, I feel such a hospital should have much more competent staff. 100% of their staff should be outstanding not just 50%.
Overall I was disappointed. After all, this is a private hospital and one expects the best!!!
The hospital's Emergency Room is probably the best in the area. They attend immediately and doctors are almost immediately available to assess your condition. The high care and intensive care staff also seems to be on the ball. They have strict rules and attend to problems immediately. The normal wards have some very good staff and then other staff that should not be in nursing at all. The one day the care is fantastic and when the next person comes on shift, it is an unfriendly environment and you have to notify the staff when drips should be changed and medication is due and so on. If they could only get rid of the people that should not have been in the medical profession, then it would have been the perfect hospital.
Took my mom to Kloof ER on Thursday morning with severe stomach pain. The staff took her in immediately and gave her a drip while I did the paper work. The Dr and all Employees were friendly and helpful. They took her for x-rays and gave more pain medication because they pain did not want to subside. She was admitted to the Medical Ward where she was treated like a Queen. The Dr kept on looking for the problem and found a huge kidney stone. I would like to thank Kloof hospital’s personnel for making an emergency and scary experience much better by keeping us updated and kept the family calm and yes My mom is so much better. Thank you thank you. PS The personnel calls my Mom Ouma or Oumie, she loves being everyones Oumie.
Dr Barnard and staff are absolutely amazing. Very friendly and professional at all times. They are set to leave you feeling comfortable and that you're in good hands.During the pandemic they even accommodated my husband during my appointments, following protocol of course, however being first time parents he was also able to enjoy the full experience.
Both my babies were born at Kloof. While some of the staff in the postnatal maternity ward are wonderful, there are a few who made my experience unpleasant. I had chosen not to use a dummy in the first 6 weeks in keeping with all recognised breastfeeding guidelines. I was repeatedly made to feel as if this was the reason my baby was crying. I got the impression they haven't been trained adequately in breastfeeding support - what to say, how to encourage. Just general support like "you're doing okay, it's normal for babies to want to feed so much in the beginning, it's how your body knows to let your milk come in" would have been wonderful but they didn't seem to know this. One nurse in the baby room in particular, when I needed to take my medication and eat breakfast with the pills, said to me that she couldn't take my baby in the baby room if I refused to give her a dummy. They need to stop pushing dummies onto new moms who don't want to use them. They need to get educated on all the research on why dummies are a bad idea in the first 6 weeks. They need to start following the recommended breastfeeding guidelines. They need training in the practical and interpersonal aspects of breastfeeding support. I have seen public hospitals that are better at the baby friendly initiative. They also forgot to check my wound and change my bandage before discharge. And the nurses wrote on my discharge form that my breasts were soft and not tender. Which was a lie as not one of them had checked or even asked me about it and in fact they were lumpy and engorged. Overall, the experience was still okay, but they need more training and accountability and should stop taking shortcuts.
My stay at the Mediclinic Kloof was horrible only because of a racist white Afrikaans speaking unit Manager(Medical ward). I came through emergency and was admitted on Sunday late afternoon- under Dr Andre Lubbe. Admitted for bronchopneumonia and Asthma. I was then taken to the “Medical ward bed 16 where I stayed alone. The next morning my arm started bleeding, I ran the bell to call the nurse and the unit manager who is a nurse, came through and I informed her and showed her my arm. She said it’s a drip there has to be blood and walked away. I asked her to remove it as my arm had excruciating pain. She walked away and said “they” will come take it out….. taking it out happened few hours later.
I was then taken to a room with 3 more patients with different sicknesses. In my condition I needed a room that was warm- the Aircon was full blast and no one seemed to be bothered. I reported this issue to the sisters e.g Sister Jabu, but she seemed to be too scared of the unit manager. I then developed fever , flu due to this Aircon. The following morning Dr Lubbe came to do his rounds, he found me very sick and requested the Aircon to be switched off. Jabu was too scared to switch off until Dr Lubbe screamed at her. Asked her “can’t she see that im very sick”.
There was one Afrikaans speaking lady who screamed that she wants Aircon, she’s from Limpopo. For her it was luxury. She told the unit manager and they spoke in Afrikaans and unit manager switched it back on- full blast. She failed to look at the pros and cos. She did not act professionally. She chose to make her fellow Afrikaans speaking lady happy as opposed to saving a life of a very sick black patient. When I requested to be moved she screamed at me that there are no beds. …. After her screaming I told Jabu to call Dr Lubbe, I’m going to another hospital- only then I was told they found another bed….
THIS BEHAVIOUR OF AFRIKAANS SPEAKING SISTERS BULLYING PATIENTS MUST STOP NOW!!!
I AM DISAPPOINTED ABOUT BLACK NURSING SISTERS LIKE SISTER JABU, WHO ARE NOT COMPETENT TO DEFEND THEIR PATIENTS.
Wow what an experience at Kloof Hospital Maternity Theatre and after care ward. After my emergency C-section. I felt like everyone there really cared about me, my baby and our welfare. Well accept for the physio. Thank you everyone what a great experience this was indeed. May you all be blessed abundantly.
Regards Celesti, Louis and tiny Liandro.
It was worth the long drive of 420km to be admitted at Kloof hospital. I have never been this satisfing with the level of service, friendlyness, gatitude and helpfulness in my life. This hospital is not only a 5 star rating, but a 10 star rating compared to the other hospitals and places i have been. It exceeded my expatations. Well done Kloof!!
Best Hospital, Best Care.
Thank you Dr. Angela and the Paeds ward for taking good care of my wife and daughter Ontlametse. My wife always says wonderful things when admitted with our daughter.
Let it not end with us. Keep It Up!

Fast and efficient treatment
Kloof hospital is really the best, the staff take such good care of you, always making sure to succeed your every need. Not to memtion the food, the food is amazing. It feels like a 5 star hotel in this hospital. Thank you for everything :)
Fix the parking meters please! They have not worked properly for at least a year. Today I went to 3 parking meters to pay for parking at a hospital. Not on!
In response: I won't spend more time on an email to say the same thing thanks.
Dr Dalene is heaven sent for us. She treats us with so much respect, patience and consideration, I could not have chosen a better Obstetrician. If I could rate more than 5 stars, I would!!
Thank you so so much to each and every personell at Kloof Hospital for assisting us with such warm, friendly and professional service despite the high demand for sick covid patients. We really appreciate all your hard work.
Absolutely the best Hospital, staff and Doctors.
Wonderful service. I was admitted for two nights and received great service with genuine care. Staff are professional, knowledgeable and friendly
Nurses were amazing. Special shout out to Melanie and her team. They made me feel so special.
The most pleasant experience I've had with any type of doctor. So friendly and passionate.
Such a caring gynecologist! Will most definitely recommend Dr Barnard to all family and friends!
The hospital has good doctors but the service is very poor and slow.
Was helpful but the attention and time wasted especially in the ortopedic ward were not what i expected from such a facility.
First impression is great. Very clean and helpful staff.
Easy and user friendly. Use the app everywhere I go. Love it!!!
Wonderful
Always had nice competent people who kept me updated on my progress and treatment plan. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious.
New experience for me. Used to much worse hospital. Kloof is worthy of a five star. Dr, anesthetist and ward staff are amazing. So effective, friendly and thorough. Congratulations on a well-run hospital.
Theresa Nel - Excellent service. The care and treatment are some of the best. Thanks to Kloof hospital and staff.
