I'm in a Whatsapp group that highly recommended James as an outstanding Loctician at Nero Hair Salon. After several women recommending James, I decided to make an appointment with him. I was NOT disappointed! I loved the way he washed my hair as well as his technique for re-twisting my hair which is very fine. James' customer service was superior! As his re-twisted my hair, I noticed Nero also does manicure and pedicures. So, I requested a manicure and pedicure as well. My technician was Melanie. She was outstanding as well. I really enjoyed how she massaged my hands and feet. As a general rule, I always bring my own product because I like what I like. Specifically, I brought with me shampoo, conditioner and nail polish. The entire experience was OUTSTANDING until I got to the front desk to pay for my services. I asked for the total twice because I couldn't understand what the guy was saying. After I paid the bill, I asked for an itemized bill so I could know how to leave a tip for James and Melanie as I had no idea how much the services cost because it isn't posted anywhere. The female receptionist, who had blond braids, sitting next to the guy who took my payment acted like she had an attitude because I asked for an itemized bill. Not sure why that was a problem, especially considering there wasn't a menu of services and fees posted. I received the bill and noticed I was charged R 180 for gel polish. That didn't make any sense to me because I brought my own product. I told the receptionist, and she acted like I was lying until I pulled my polish outside my bag. Then I was told by the guy that Nero charged R150 for gel polish for men who come in to get a manicure and pedicure. I told them that didn't make sense to me because I brought my own product and I am not a man. The receptionist interjected and said it was R 180. None of it make sense to me because they both gave a different amount for the service. Then the receptionist started speaking in their language, raising her voice at Melanie like she did something when she didn't. The guy said I could get the R 180 back and the receptionist was visually angry as she went to get the money. Then she comes and shows me the gel base coat and topcoat. Neither one of those items where required because I didn't use the typical gel that requires your nails to go into the oven. Actually, it caused my nail polish to be lumpy the next day. It was the wrong base coat and topcoat for my type of polish. I needed regular product. Thus, I don't know why I was charged. I decided not to receive the R 180 because the energy of the receptionist completely OFF. I thought it best that I leave. They knew it was my first time there and I am shocked by the unprofessionalism of the receptionist and her terrible attitude. She ruined an excellent experience I had with James and Melanie.
