Excellent Service from Mercy and the rest of the team. Wow, from the day I walked in and got assisted by Mercy who explained everything thoroughly and insisted that i take my own video so that there are no disputes later. Before returning the car, I decided to take it for a wash coz i had also went to the beach it was dirty, I also filled it up as I wanted to return it on the same condition i had received it in and as a result, I got refunded my full deposit with no issues (deposit took 6 working days) and the contract stated up to 7 days. For me, I'm definitely using you guys again and again, thanks!!

Rent-a-cheapie - pay-an-expensive. I want to share my experience, because there are some issues, which is not clear at first sight, but important. For me, it's kind of low-coster air company, which tickets are quiet cheap, but if you are not familiar with the rules, you will pay extras, and in the end, price will not be as small as you expected. For example, here you will be charged: - for the fact, that you drove outside 200/400/750 k from CPT - pay fine, that you drove gravel road (and it's R899) and if you are on vacation, i can say, that most of the must see places (game rides, places of stay, poi's, wineries and etc) are on the gravel roads (and this roads are really good, i'm not talking about pits&boulders, or driving on Kruger park)) - and other fines) Okay, you can say, that there is documents and quotation with all that info, but it's really frustrating anyway. Also, in my case, after the car was inspected after i returned, it turned out, that one of the rims is buckled. I still not sure, that is my fault (i do believe in regular inspections, but as i read, some people also pay for the existed scratches, and really there is no 100% evidence) and for a quite long time rentacheapie wanted to charge me for the rim replacement, but after my several messages agreed, that it can be repaired. Overall, car was in good condition (wipers needed change only) the stuff is friendly and helpful, but it was really hard to bring my point to view. So, my final recommendations: - for long routes, like Garden route - i'm not recommend to rent here, for driving around CPT - i think it's good. - film the car after you received it, and i recommend to ask to lift the car, and film the bottom part, especially wheels.

I rented a little Chico for two weeks. Everything went very well from pick up to drop off. I have seen some bad reviews , and it all falls down to following the rules. So, as a tip to others, make sure you don't drive off of tarred roads. Fill up your tank at the nearby petrol station, and bring a receipt. Make sure your car is clean. Do these things, and you won't have any problems. Upon returning my car, they did an inspection and immediately credited my credit card for the deposit given. Rent a Cheapie was a very good experience for me. I thank Mercy, Heinrich, and the team for a very friendly, organised service. Hope to see you again next April.

Not that cheap. If you extend your rental you pay the rate of the extension, it doesn’t get added to your balance of rental days for an overall cheaper rate. Cheeky if you ask me. I’ll shop around next time.

Good experience: Hiring and collecting the car. Quite effortless and reasonable prices Bad experience: Returning the car. They charged me for a cleaning of the car for some sand on the floor of the driver's seat. Yes, I could have cleaned it but it was the only issue and it literally takes a hoover and 2 minutes to get rid of the sand. Unecessary to charge for a cleaning.

We had a great experience, we rented a citi golf for three weeks. I was honestly a little hesitant because some reviews made it seem like the company might find reasons to not give the deposit back. However this wasn't our experience at all, our full deposit was returned. Will definitely make use of rent a cheapie again

Had a thoroughly positive experience with Rentacheapie Cape Town. Rentacheapie were quick to respond with email. We sorted the booking within 2 days (keeping in mind different timezones). This a mere week before our landing, too! We arrived at the branch at 14:50, ten minutes before closing (our flight was really delayed). Not a problem, they patiently went through the paperwork with us, did car inspection and everything even though they were closing shop. A week later, we returned the car, they did the inspection and that was it. Simple, friendly and good customer service. Shout out to staff Silos (spelling maybe? it’s been a month since sorry!) for his great positivity and help. Keep in mind, there are rules and regulations with this company. As long as you read them, keep them in mind and try not push the limits, you’ll have a good experience. Thanks Rentacheapie!

The pick up needs to be faster & cars to be always ready. I had to wait an hour for a car to be inspected and ready for collection. Also, the idea of having to refuel & wash the car at the end of the rental is not one that's comfortable. Other than those two items, I had a great experience.

With all the poor reviews I read of other car rental companies I felt I took a bit of a gamble renting a car. Rentacheapie had good prior customer reviews and with good reason. They provided me clear and upfront conditions of use with no "fine print". The vehicle was clean and mechanically sound. Service staff was helpful and assisted with additional questions I had. When I returned the vehicle in the same manner I received it a service staffer done a check on the vehicle and gave it a thumbs up in a matter of minutes. 2 days later my full deposit was refunded to my bank account. Great, honest service at a fraction of the price.

Rent a Cheapie was a wonderful company to deal with. My kids were able to rent a car without needing their own credit cards, which is a requirement of most other car rental companies. We rented an Hyundai i10 for 6 months. At first I was skeptical about renting a cheaper car than any other rental companies, but now I can say with 100% certainty that Rentacheapie was one of the best! From the time of collection right up until the drop off was a smooth and easy process. Their Admin Team is extremely responsive, as well as their road side assistance whatsapp, for any queries you might have. Bonus: our deposit was refunded within 48hours. Collection of vehicle was seamless and efficient. There was a problem with the return date booked in the system but Dylan went out of his way to rectify this. Drop of off vehicle and refund if deposit was just as seamless as the pickup. One suggestion would be to offer an option at a minimal charge to have the car washed upon its return. The vehicle needs to be returned clean and finding a car wash was a challenge for someone who doesn't know the area

I had to paid R300 extra for using a debit card. I was not aware of this until I came to collect the vehicle. I also had to wait for about 30 minutes before the vehicle was ready. Apart from that, it went pretty well. The team is nice and prices cheap.

Rentacheapie has the best team! The only notes I have is the excruciatingly long pick up and drop off processes due to the fact that every tiniest scratch needs to be accounted of — but since they are not actually fixed by Renacheapie they just accumulate. Oh, and there was a tiny vehicle problem with the gas gauge. Other than that great and smooth experience!

Rented a golf for 7 days. It was a last minute reservation, the car i wanted was not available but the team made contact as soon as one became available. I got the car I could afford on the day that I initially had booked for. On collection, payment and inspection was quick and seamless. Employees very enguaging, in a few minutes I was in my way. I needed to extend but was unsure for how long, instead of extending for another 7 days the team made an exception based on my situation. Anuscha was my main point of contact, sorry I didn't get to put a face to the name but all in all, great service and vehicle was well maintained. Definitely at the top of my referral list. Great if you are a careful slow driver I had originally written a very scathing review and RentaCheapie called me to discuss what I had written. The service is not right for me as I have been known to occasionally exceed the speed limit and always need to drive on dirt roads. The impression I got when renting the vehicle (where I found out about the nasty t&cs after signing the contract) - my fault as I said I wasn't interested in t&cs and I wrongly assumed that having hired lots of cars in my life, that speeding and driving offroad was fine. Not so with rentacheapie and i got the impression you could get a huge fine at the end of the hire period for both activities. on the call, they assured me that they will always try and contact the hirer before fining. If they see you going off-road they will text you and they only fine you for driving off-road because they claim their insurance won't pay out if an accident occurs if it 'could' be a result of offroad driving - blow out on normal road if you've driven off road for example and they also stated that driving offroad increases the depreciation and so they don't want their assets being unnecessarily damaged. If this would stand up to the financial ombudsman is questionable, but it is what it is. So, in summary if you are a slow driver who is just going to be using the car for standard journeys and are careful RentACheapie offer a very good service. It just isn't the hire car company for me, I have to add that I took the car back early as being unable to drive on dirt roads didn't work for me and the company understood and didn't charge a cancellation fee. In addition they found my glasses (which I thought I had lost elsewhere) and got in touch to tell me were in the car. So from a service perspective they did really well!

Rented a car from Rentacheapie for the 1st time. Rented a VW Chico Golf for 2 months. The concept is truly fantastic! There is a good atmosphere in the office and the service is very clear. Rental prices are very low (according to my research, lowest in Cape Town) because the cars are older. Our Golf with more than 220,000 km on the odometer always started and we had no problems with it. In the meantime, I have extended the rental period once. There was a different interpretation of the conditions by me and Rentacheapie, but this was ultimately resolved very well. In short, I will definitely rent a car here again and would recommend them to everyone! And then we definitely want the limited edition of the VW Golf in pink again.
