Excellent ticketing system. Helpful from the reception to guide you and very organized. I've heard issues experienced from others due to some systems being down but fortunately I had a seamless experience. Can apply for passport and smart ID card online but will probably wait around 3 weeks for an appointment which is still better than having to go into Home Affairs.
Top notch experience getting my wife's biometrics done for her SmartID. I booked the appointment for my daughter's passport biometrics but got that done a few weeks earlier at Edenvale DHA. The cashier at FNB Merchant Place DHA allowed us to use the appointment for my wife's Smart ID biometrics.
Went there to do my passport, my appointment was at 9 and at 9 I was already out on my way home...it took less than 10 minutes and was a pleasant experience.
Visited Department of Home Affairs desk at FNB, what a delight. In and out in 15 minutes (I applied online). Learnt that they open appointments daily, so as soon as one day is fully booked, you have to try again the next day to view a new open date
Booked online for our children's passports. It was such a pleasure dealing with professional government officials. We had an appointment for 1 April at 2pm. We arrived at 13:30 and was helped immediately. The process is well organized and it took all of 29 minutes to complete both children's applications. Well done to a well organized team!
Renewed my passport here recently. After booking an appointment and paying online through the Home Affairs eChannel portal, the rest was a breeze compared to going to a normal Home Affairs office. I waited about 20 min to get biometrics done on the Monday. I returned 4 days later on Friday to collect and it took 5 min. The only issue I had was there is a serious lack of parking during busy hours. You end up searching for a space at nearby shopping centres and on the road which, in Sandton, is a real pain.
Arrived 30 minutes early for my home affairs appointment that was at 10. Found no queue and was helped immediately. Was in and out within 5 minutes. Now we wait.
Completed application on the 6th of November. Took 7 working days to receive sms for passport collection and 14 working days for ID collection.

What an amazing team! The biometric system was slow, so they arranged with Nedbank DOE to assist us. Even walked us over to their branch. This is true customer service, when you make a plan that works and keep your customers informed. We'll done people!
