Reviews of Dr Avinash Kolloori
Apart from being extremely proactive and professional, they are the kindest medical team I have ever dealt with. Dr Kolloori, thank you. Despite a serious surgery and what has been quite an ordeal, your kindness and approach to healing is inspiring and I am grateful for your guidance and support. Ms Sharmla, you really are a Rockstar! You made everything possible. Thank you and Dr Khan for everything. I highly recommend the team. Thank you, thank you thank you.
Dr Kolloori recently performed two operations on me (Epidural lacet laceration and a major brain surgery Craniotomy).
From my first consultation with Dr Kolloori I experienced a very caring calm neurosurgeon that follows a holistic philosophy.
What impressed me most was in how much details he explained and discussed my situation with me.
Dr Kolloori uses the latest technology and kept me informed at all times. He even canceled his leave to do the brain surgery on a Saturday early morning.
In my situation he organized a team of specialists - all highly qualified and the best.
Fourways Life hospital is a very good hospital that also care for patient and this is conducive for specialists such as Dr Kolloori.
Thank you so much Dr Kolloori and your amazing caring team.
After months of excruciating pain in my lower back and nerve pain going down my leg and into my foot, I was fortunate to begin my journey with Dr Kolloori. Hoping to prevent surgery, he prescribed medication and sessions of physio. He also did Lumbar Epidural injections, sadly my pain remained.
End of April Dr Kolloori, and his very capable team including another great man Dr Khan, did 7 hours major surgery on my lower back to do the Lumbar Decompression and Stabilisation of my lower spine. At times, I found my recovery to be challenging. Thank you Dr Kolloori for you kind assistance. Your calm decorum and chats about our spiritual consciousness brought much light into my life.
Your team includes : Sharmla, you are an amazing and very special lady. Your support, kindness and great care of patients is outstanding. Vanessa, you are always very friendly and helpful.
Dr Kolloori you are an exceptionally talented neurosurgeon and I thank you for everything you have done for me.
Dear Doctor Kolloori and staff, I can never express how thankful I am that I was referred to you. You have the ability to put anyone at ease with your knowledge and manner. The operation was difficult and because of my cardiac problems more traumatic, but from the very first time Doctor explained what and how the operation and recovery will evolve. The staff attached to the practice is phenomenal but what can you expect when the Doctor is a genius? Thankyou Dr Kolloori and surgical staff for what you have done for me. Thankyou to the practice staff for your service to me, I will always be in your debt.
With a heart full of admiration and awe I thank you.

I am very happy with the outcomes of my latest surgery with Dr Kolloori. I am a survivor of a bomb blast at the UN house in Abuja Nigeria in 2011. Since then I have had numerous lumbar and Cervical spine surgeries, some were done by Dr Maharaj and the rest was done by Dr Kolloori. My experience throughout has been exceptional. .
After months of excruciating back pain, my husband ended up at the Fourways Life Hospital, and what a blessing it was to meet Dr. Kolloori. He was so quick and efficient with his diagnosis of my husband's condition and he gave us such professional and honest advice. Literally hours after surgery, my husband's condition went from unbearable to gone!
We are so grateful to Dr.Kolloori and his incredibly amazing team for the care and support.
Dr Kolloori I cannot thank you enough for your good work!! I have been suffering with lower back pain for many years! I went in got an MRI done(prolapsed disc) Dr Kolloori chatted with me discussed all options and we did what had to be done. Then I decided I wanted back surgery. Well I woke up after surgery felt good, went home after 3 days and I still feel great thank you Dr Kolloori you are amazing and your reception ladies so kind and friendly 🙏🏻Really appreciate all of you 💙 my second week of recovery and still feel great 👍🏻
Life and one’s actions and choices can take one down a dark and blind alley of emotional and physical debilitation from which there seems no return. Chronic pain is the constant traveler from which there seems no escape. It slowly eroded my wife’s passion, hope and energy; ever increasing doses of pain killers dulled her intellect and her and our life shrank to an island that was our house. For several years we had done a carousel of specialists, procedures and medications with seemingly ever decreasing efficacy and with it despair.
Fortune intervened when I was closely involved with my sister’s neck operation and came to experience the blessing that is Dr. Kolloori’s team. A few months after that began a process of healing on so many levels for my wife Louise. You will read in other reviews of the care, diligence, efficacy and efficiency of the practice and team, all of which are true.
The way Dr. Kolloori walked and occasionally carried Louise emotionally along the journey is on a level I have not seen and am sure would be hard to find elsewhere. What’s more is that it is clear that it is an ethos he has instilled across his team and an expectation he holds for colleagues and hospital staff involved with his patients.
For those technically interested, a L1 to S1 spinal fusion and decompression was done by Dr. Kolloori and Prof. Khan, with Dr. Mukaddam as anaesthetist, to correct a rotational scoliosis. So, relatively complex I’m told and further complicated by some co-morbidities Lou has.
We are now 8 weeks post op and it is as if Lou has been lifted out of the blind alley into the light of life, and is the woman I knew several years ago. Pain is all but gone and strength returning and with it self-belief is being restored. There is a long way to go yet, we know this, but feel completely empowered for the journey. We have been blessed beyond imagining and cannot be thankful enough. You and your team are a gift to the world.
I first experienced unusual pain 6 years ago while I was caring for my mum. I woke up one morning, after having lifted my mum after a fall, with a very painful hip. After 10 days of over-the-counter pain medication, I dragged myself off to the GP, who in turn sent me off for x-rays. I thought I was having my hips x-rayed so was obviously a bit shocked when the radiologist asked me, “How long have you had this back injury?”. I was referred to a neurosurgeon at the time but decided to try everything else first. I have been to three physiotherapists, taken up Pilates, all providing no permanent relief. By 2021 I was limping by the end of every day, and at times in excruciating pain when something in my lower spine ‘moved’. My current GP referred me to Dr Kolloori.
I can highly recommend Dr Kolloori. He is professional and does not push you towards surgery. He helps you look at other options and explore any possible causes of your pain. Having met and researched Dr Kolloori and feeling confident that he would do a good job, I opted for the decompression/fusion surgery.
I had the surgery 11 days ago. I woke to find the pain in my hips and legs gone. The pain has not returned, my legs are no longer lame or heavy. I have just walked a kilometer. I found the post-operative experience far less painful than described by friends, for which I am grateful. Not everyone has the same experience. I would highly recommend a visit to Dr Kolloori if you have a condition that falls within his field of expertise.
I suffered for years with lower back pain in and out of hospitals with epidurals at least twice a year then in November 2020 I could no longer walk due to severe back pain. Thank to Dr Kaloori for saving my life by letting me be able to walk again. I had a spinal fusion. Was a long recovery 6 months at least but now 2 years later and I am still pain free. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr Kaloori. 😊
Hi there Dr Kaloori..
I saw you earlier today but just thought that I’d put down in writing how grateful I am for the care and support that you have given me in the past 4 years and 3 (2 back and 1 neck) surgeries later.. hopefully this is the last surgery I ever have to have…
Anyway.. just to say THANK YOU so so much because the last surgery on my neck which has resulted in me being able to use my left arm and hand again .. having had sensation in only about 20% in my left hand I’d say that I now have about 90% of the sensation back as well as strength to do what I used to do (which is massive) given that my right arm (which is for now in a sling) hasn’t functioned well since my brachial plexus injury in 2009 I had/have become largely dependent on my left arm and hand to perform about 80% of the work that one would ordinarily do with the assistance of both arms/hand functions.. and so for me the ability to use my left hand/arm again has made a HUGE difference in my life both physically and mentally/emmotionaly…
And so THANK YOU once again..
Highly recommended Neurosurgeon! Dr. Kolloori and his team are professional, kind, empathetic yet precise. Thank you for taking such excellent care of me during and post my cervical spine surgery.
