t. a.It is not often that I frequent shopping malls, especially during the busy festive season. I entered Shoe City, Kenilworth Centre, with my slow-walking, elderly aunt, to look for a flat shoe that was comfortable enough for her to walk in. I was filled with anxiety, not only because the centre was full, but at year-end, employees are often tired because of the myriad of people and long hours.
What an ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL experience we had. First, there was a security guard, named Wendy, who was not only friendly but also tried to help my aunt find an appropriate pair of shoes. Next came an employee, named Zinzi, who ran around getting my aunt to try on various shoes (for about 20 minutes), and once my aunt had chosen the shoes she liked, Zinzi, could not find her size. Instead, what she did was phone other branches to enquire about the shoes. She found it at Shoe City, Ottery, and a woman called Ayesha set it aside for my aunt.
The level of service, we received restored my near-depleted faith in humanity.
Thank you so very much to these special people who put a smile on an elderly person's face. You are the epitome of what service with a smile is.
