Reviews of Michael Oak Waldorf School
My daughter started last year in class 5. She is going off to class 7 with her teacher, Mrs Jordan. We came from a very secular school, so we were open to a whole different culture. I must say we are so so happy we feel accepted and recognized. I have formed bonds with parents where I never did at the previous school. My daughter has never been happier. There is also zero bullying policy, and Mrs Jordan, if there is an issue, sorts it out. The school in itself is marvelous, and I can see the major difference in my daughter even by her way of thinking and outlook on life. Thank You Micheal Oak you really are in my opinion the best.
What a great play by the class 11s!! A talented group of kids that have conscientiously prepared to take on the big wide world. They are a true credit to the Waldorf ethos, their school and the Michael Oak College of Teachers.

👏👏👏
What an incredible school this is. Besides the timeless waldorf principles of education, the school is an island of leafy sanity in a world so quickly being transformed into a cyber-desert. The motivation and values are so much deeper than just money. It is a true caring for the life and soul of the children.
I am not a great author, and not so good at expressing myself fully in the written word, but here goes.
I taught in Mainstream education for around 27 years - and learnt a lot. It is a fairly detailed knowledge-based system which mostly encourages students to learn, and then assesses this ability regularly. I did enjoy my time there, met some amazing teachers and young people, and understood the elements of what the education system is trying to do. However, something was missing for me - other than in the "Arts" subjects, I felt it relied too much on facts, concepts and skills, and failed to reach the inner human.
I had close contact through my son and my school with the Montessori Primary education. This is an alternative education system of learning that really helps students to be able to work independently which is very useful in this world. Despite many amazing elements, I also felt there was something missing.
Having always been interested in alternative education, and now having spent 8 years teaching and learning in this incredible education system I believe that Waldorf is the most relevant education that really looks to the depth, evolution and future of the human being.
Nowadays, many people tend to believe that giving your child technology is what is going to make them appropriately functional for the future. That certainly is part of the future, but it certainly doesn't teach them about themselves, nor help them to develop their inner world. Most of the information comes from outside of themselves so they don't get to experience their inner world - this may lead to a disconnect from the environment and more importantly, from themselves.
Waldorf provides "soul food" which may sound airy fairy, but it nurtures the inner world. Imagination and creativity form the essence to lead the child from inside to outside. The curriculum is designed to meet their emotional and developmental needs with the precision of a genius. The academic aspect is broad, exposing all children to a wide range of topics and skills, with pockets of depth as well as points of stringent academic rigour.
Each of us that work in a Waldorf environment and see it's richness, all wish that we could have had a Waldorf education ourselves. Our Primary school teachers and early childhood teachers have all had the privilege of pre-work immersion through the Centre for Creative education, and some of our High School teachers have had the fortune of having been schooled in a Waldorf education. The rest of us are immersed in on-site and ongoing training on the Waldorf approach.
We certainly don't get it right all the time, and as there is no Principal it certainly has it's challenges, but to take away a hierarchical structure pioneers the way for a true democracy where each person has to take responsibility for their place in the scheme of things.
Here we are encouraging the development of young human beings into the fullness of themselves, whilst imbuing ourselves with the power of Imagination, and learning to having courage for the truth.
How exceptional is that!
A beautiful community based school with passionate teachers and a curriculum that has equipped my five children to be capable, dependable and successful young adults. Highly recommended!
Absolutely magical kindergarten - warm and friendly community and very focused on building up your child in every way.
A truly understanding and compassionate education system. Facilitated by mainly competent, caring and adequate staff.
