If you want genuine Italian food then this is the place for you. It's been in existence for 53 years and is still owned and run by the same family. Nothing fancy but good honest reasonably priced all Italian offerings.

We last visited Mario's four years ago. Glad to say nothing has changed. Homely atmosphere, with simple, spectacular food coming out of the kitchen. Remains one of our favourite restaurants ever.

Felt like your typical family-run Italian restaurant! The chairs are comfy and the decor is an interesting mix of scribbled walls, chandeliers and an Italian-themed wall of framed pictures. Not pretentious in its decorum at all. Our waiter was friendly and had an easy way about him, but I suspect most of the staff here won’t stand for any nonsense. They’re not shy to fill your wine glass all the way to the top. We waited quite a while for our food but I suspect that is due to the home-cooking style. The penne arrabbiata and the gnocchi arabbiata were both brilliant. My gnocchi was one of the best gnocchis I’ve tasted.

Authentic Italian food and home made pasta as you would expect. Nice cosy restaurant with good service in English Afrikaans and Italian. Unfortunately wine prices are way over the top which may discourage patrons. Then rather consider BYO?

Great traditional thin crust pizza starting from around R50 for a basic no topping. Won't find better at this price range in the area. Its one of my favourites in Cape Town along with Nonna Lina near Labia theatre. Don't forget to try some of the homemade deserts.. Devine :)

I had a great pizza. Thin and crispy base with generous toppings. Also had the Semifreddo as a dessert (Almond praline ice cream) It was just like Nonna’s. Nice restaurant and worth trying out.

I'm Italian and after so many weeks outside Italy I wished an Italian food. So I can see that all foods tested were delicious either pasta and dessert. Absolutely Italian taste maintained with ingredients really fresh. Thanks
