Mom 'n' pop small wee Chinese restaurant, unpretentious. All home made family recipe food from scratch! They put all their energy into the food quality and preparations, so don't expect an ass kissing service. They do the utmost best to feed you with love. ...One of the few Chinese restaurants in the world that I have eaten at- that I actually feel really GOOD afterwards and want to go back for MORE! A warm happy tummy! 🥰 That's why these lovely people get 5 Stars! 🙏👏👌 It's the BEST Chinese food ever in Cape Town in my opinion plus many other places.....I'd say it's my favourite restaurant! I'm so glad to finally have one consistent favourite in CT. Best to book in advance as they can get super busy if you don't want to wait.

Excellent authentic Chinese food! The staff is very friendly, owner is exceptional. Highly recommend Xiao Long Bao dumplings and Cumin Beef, brings back fond memories of China! Went a second time on our short vacation, still didn’t disappoint!! The owners are friendly and welcoming, they made sure we enjoyed our dishes and the meal was hot and delicious. Don’t hesitate to check them out, you be glad you did!

Tried it out with some friends over the Easter weekend. Xiao long bau was fantastic and juicy, the way it should be! Really enjoyed that. Soup noodle was bouncy with decent flavourings. Well made and quickly prepared and served. What more can you ask for.

A no frills authentic Chinese restaurant. A constant stream of regular Chinese diners who all seem to recognize and greet each other. Simple, honest food. Dim sum’s seem to be popular and you’ll often seen them being folded fresh in the restaurant. Noodles in soup also house made. Xiao Long Bao, Fried Dumplings, Spring Onion Pancake and Beef Flank Soup Noodles all recommended. Cash only. Good value.

I really love going to this place. There is something about it. It's not the prettiest on the block but has this authenticity to it. I love how all the food is super fresh. It makes the sometimes long wait worthwhile. I've already had the pleasure of watching the owner prepare some items at one of the tables. She definitely knows her stuff. The owner is not the friendliest of people but this is another characteristic that makes it what it is. She's definitely nicer than pre Covid. I have my favourites and don't usually sway from the pork and prawn fried dumplings 🥟 and either the mixed fried rice or sweet and Sour chicken 🐔. Just writing this review is setting off my craving. Need a Hesheng fix!!!

My new best dim sum restaurant ... but shhh!!! Don't tell everyone. This seems to be a little hidden gem where the one owner is the chef and the other owner the waitress (who also happens to make your dim sum fresh every day!!). Portion were big (we got about 9 dim sum per order) and the other dishes were great too!

Love the cucumber salad, spring onion pancakes, the xiao long bao, pork and leek dumplings and pork noodle soup! The dumplings and noodles are all handmade from scratch and you can taste the difference.

This is an absolute hidden gem. An Authentic with no frills and fancy. This was our second time and this time was better as the restaurant has been taken over by two young couples who previously worked here. Now there is friendlier service and still great food. Will definitely go back and will post pictures as well. Well done and keep it up

The Staff and Chefs at Hesheng perfectly complement the incredible food! I was hesitant to try something new and the Manager taught me so much about the Northern Asian cuisine that I decided to try it- now, I'm hooked! HeSheng is recommended by Hardie Property. Mentioned in Inside Guide as one of the best restaurants in Cape Town, we decided to give it a try. I went with friends from real estate in Cape Town and we had the dim sum to begin. I have to say it was superb. We had the chili chicken for main which was tasty but it was the dim sum that stuck out which we would go back for. It is always a good sign when the Chinese are eating at a Chinese restaurant. Amazing food! We had the soup dumplings (listed as pork mince dumplings on the menu) and the fried dumplings, which had a pork and chives filling; both were delicious!! Don't underestimate the dumpling portions, the ones we had, each had 12 dumplings - great value for money. We'll definitely be back

They serve really good dim sum and reasonably priced. I had the beef dim sum, steamed but you can have it fried. Dishes are served quickly. This is another great place for sharing. Reservations are allowed and recommended as they get fairly busy. They are also very popular for take aways. Friendliness if service varies from time to time but overall I've have really good service.

I stayed a few blocks from He Sheng. I have been here probably 5 or 6 times. Each time i would definitely start with the pig ear salad. My favorite, it is crunchy and super savory. Their soup dumplings are also very tasty and delicate. The noodles are home made as well!!! Great Chinese food in Cape Town.

Excellent dumplings if you are looking for an authentic Chinese meal. This is our go-to place for steamed dragon dumplings/bao (小龍包). My favourite item on their menu is the fried dumplings. Keep in mind they only accept cash. Excellent value for money.

A group of 6 of us visited in December 19, we didn't have a booking but were seated at a lazy suzan with a highchair provided for the baby. Two of our party are very particular with the Chinese food, they will always ask for the Chinese menu rather than the 'westerners' menu for more authentic Chinese food. We all enjoyed our food, and the dumplings (which we've always found hard to find decent ones outside of China) were amazing - even the vegetarian ones! I would thoroughly recommend visiting this restaurant - you don't go to a Chinese for service go for their food, and remember the dishes are ordered to share - not for individual dishes!!!!

If you want authentic dim sum this is the place to go. Food are made fresh and you can literally taste the freshness of the food. This place is really all about the food and that is why they deliver top quality food. The price is very cheap and will fill you up and feeling satisfied. Many chinese places are Westernized but He Sheng still maintain the authenticity for many years.

Chinese cuisine, the speciality being dim sum / dumplings. Har gow dumplings 🥟🦐 🥟🦞🍜🍚🥣🥠🫖are really good, also try the won ton 🥣 soup. Ideal for small or medium sized lunch or dinner groups. Suitable for vegetarians 🥬🥒🥦, menu is not kosher, not halaal. Tables are serviced.

It was one of the best Chinese restaurants in Cape Town. It's close so I'll go again. However, it may not be worth the trouble of using Uber. There are other Chinese restaurants in Seapoint and Greenpoint, but I think they are delicious. But if you want ramen, I recommend going to Ramen Head instead of here.
