Fast and friendly staff. Security at the front is also friendly and helpful. The menu caters for all tastes so theres a little bit for everyone. Parking outside is a bit of a mission and tight when the delivery trucks pull in. If you dont mind walking...park a little further up the road and walk. The fire place was lovely, kept us nice a toasty the whole time there.

Staff were professional and friendly, and the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming I didn't notice the rain outside. Only reason I don't give a 5 star is that the meat was tough and tasteless. Highly recommend as a bar though!

A cozy pub style eatery perfect for most occasions. I have been going to Barristers for years and can only recommend it. There is outside seating, a classic pub-style bar, a smoking section and a more formal grill room seating area, making it a versatile eatery, which is aided by its extensive menu. While being a bit steep in the price department, Barristers is worth it as a result of its great atmosphere, high quality food and friendly service.

We eat there in a group.. the dishes arrivdd at the same time. It did the some time before our orders were taken, but it was packed, like so often. The service was polite and good. Pub lunch prices are worth the expense. A nice atmosphere rounded it off

The best deal in town. The place is almost always packed, and the vibe good. You can't beat them for price and quality and they have an excellent menu. The beer is always cold. I love their burgers, which come with delicious toppings but even the plain one is excellent. Definitely the best for miles around.

We always have a great experience here. Our waiter has been working at Barristers for ages and he provides the very best service every time we go. You have to try the lunch specials!

Weekends are quite a bit of fun with the live entertainment. Last meal I had there was the ribs. They were quite sweet with not enough punch. Food here is generally ok withybeing memorable. But it's a fun place to spend the time an evening on the weekend.

The chicken wraps and calamari were good. The chips had a strange seasoning. We had to get the attention of the waitron to get the bill and then had to get up and find her to pay. An olde English type of decor.

Nice village pub with a great outdoor deck. Used to go there often but service has become noticeably slack over the past year. Good selection of beer and wine and the special offers on meals are great value but the service was so poor the last time we went that we waited 25 minutes for our drinks to arrive. I hope the owner Lance sees this post because he's there a lot of the time and does nothing about it. It's a shame really to see a great village pub lose it's shine (and a lot of business to Forries nearby) because of poor service.

Very good bar, several different restaurant venues from upscale to casual. They .have everything, but someone in purschasing, bless them, knows and likes red wines. Service not outstanding but not terrible either (my reason for ☆☆☆☆ only): it makes it difficult to eat against a deadline: fast food is not their thing. Snotty evening manager. Little attention paid to saving water. BUT THEY SERVE GUINNESS ON TAP with the official 5/12'" head. 💓 Very good pub lunch with many choices served most of the day, plus other good food all day; daily special on desserts most days . Steak done properly and veg, lovely. Value for money pretty reasonable. Not near to Newlands rugby and cricket grounds but not too far either. It's always difficult to get parking. No wheelchair access that I can see.

Waiters friendly and helpful. Enough parking available. Great setup at atmosphere. We always go for the pizza there. And have never been disappointed. The only thing is the harassing car guards.But I can not blame the restaurant for that as there is more than one business available on premises.

Heard about this place from a family friend and I must say, I’m really glad I did. I’ve passed Barristers countless times but never took much note of it. Their lunch time specials (which may I add, are available til 6pm daily) are incredible. There’s options for everyone, including vegans and vegetarians. The staff here are really friendly and the food is consistently great! A hidden gem located in Newlands!

Cramped at times, but the staff are alright. The incredible lunch special makes it perfect for week day lunch meetings (if you kick off at 12). Some good value on the menu and an impressive range of local craft beer (unlike the "institution" up the road)

Been back again. This time Sunday Lunch. My friend had the special of pork belly and veg - said it was good, and me sirloin steak, grilled tomatoe and slap chips - just right. We had glasses of excellent red and a white, followed by chocolate ice cream to share. Just right all round! Be back next time!

Nice mix of seating options, quite corner, vibey after work bar and deck and enclosed smoking area. Food we had was decent, had a steak where half seemed medium and the other medium rare, everyone else's seemed better. Thai soup came with what seemed like spaghetti noodles which seemed a strange combo but it was full of flavor. Would be closer to 3 1/2 stars

The waitress just showed us off in another direction when we arrived after I said we hadn't made a booking, the next waitress pulled a face at the gentleman asking her to seat us, the 3rd waitress admitted she had only been working there a month and therefore didn't know that the starter she placed in front of us was incomplete, the main meal was cold and when she asked us how our meal was, we said it was cold, she shrugged her shoulders and said sorry, terribly disappointed and won't return anytime soon.

First tume at Barristers. We normally go to Forresters but Barristers was divine. Very plush and upmarket. There was a big group of us and they handled our food and drinks orders well. We moved outside much later and they were very accomodating. I had the calamari snack basket, it was good. Will visit them again when in CT.

Friends and I have arranged to meet here (we) were/am thrilled with this restaurant. Great food, nice atmosphere with live music and lots of different types of beer. You can also get Guinness here. The service is quick, friendly and always on site to find out if you are satisfied. It was a wonderful steak that I had and it was a pleasure. It is very clean and you can only feel comfortable. Keep it up and, when we're nearby, we'll come over for dinner and drinks.
