Food is always good, in particular, the goodie burger. Play area for children is a bit small though. The smoking area feels a bit dingy (but which smoking area doesn’t)

Elevator not working and a general lack of maintenance such as an ear splitting scraping noise from the smoking section door that when I mentioned it to the manager, I got the what must I do about it shrug. Food was about average for what you can expect from the spur.

We thoroughly enjoy dining at Spur, which has become one of our favourite establishments. Our recent visit to Santa Cruz was my first time at this location. Given my partner’s preference for the smoking section, we typically find such areas to be suboptimal in terms of ambiance. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and good ventilation of Santa Cruz’s smoking section. The presence of large windows further enhanced the overall atmosphere. Although the air conditioning left a bit to be desired, it did not significantly detract from our overall enjoyment. As for the cuisine, it met our expectations precisely, and we relished every bite. I did order a strawberry daiquiri with an additional shot of Bacardi, but unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations. The cocktail was disappointingly watered down and lacked flavour. It’s worth noting that this issue extends beyond Santa Cruz and pertains more to Spur’s cocktail offerings. While Spur is primarily known as a steak ranch and not a cocktail bar, we fondly recall the days when pre-mixed Mainstay daiquiris were on the menu - they were delicious. We were also pleased to see the return of the warm finger bowls, to rid diners of sticky fingers after a great meal. The true highlight of our visit however, was our host and waiter, Moment. From the moment we were seated, he warmly welcomed us and ensured we felt right at home. His attentiveness and friendliness elevated our dining experience, and his service was truly exceptional. We extend our gratitude to Moment for his impeccable service. Overall, our experience at Santa Cruz was quite enjoyable, and we look forward to returning in future.

The combo I had which was chicken ribs and lamb chop was horrible I ordered take away not sure if that’s why it was so bad cause I’m not there to complain but was really Gross Update: spur went above and beyond to apologize for the mishap. Time will tell if the correct the service at the Resturant tho.

The attitude of the staff is always positive, one of the places I get to choose which waiter to serve me,and they never complain to rotate, otherwise 👌 fabulous service,from Manger to the waitress.

Unathi was our waiter at this Spur. Excellent service, and the breakfast was perfect. All staff so friendly and helpfull. So unreal to see this. Will definitely go back there when I visit my sister again. Keep up the great service guys.

We were attended by a waiter who is not suited to be customer facing with his abrupt and inattentive behaviour. Either that or he needs some serious training. Could not find the wine list at the entrance and didn't bother to get one later. Could not order wine, thought alchohol was no longer served until I saw large cocktail menu on the table. Had to ask another waiter to find him and ask for tomato sauce after he dropped the kiddies food and disappeared for 20 minutes. Had to ask another waiter to call him when we wanted to order coffee, he eventually arrived in a rush dropped the bill and disappeared despite calling him. He never asked if we wanted anything else, if everything was ok, if we wanted sweets etc when he collected the plates. Never a please pass me the empty glasses or plates, just can I have the....Asked another waiter again to call him. He apologised and took our coffee order and brought the bill. He is very lucky to have gotten a tip at all. I did have some words of advice, sadly I think if I go there next month he will not have changed. The food was good, the children thoroughly enjoyed the play area.

Good service, good food and would have been a pleasant outing if it wasn't for the frequent interruptions of the rudest people on the planet, namely the one's that come and ask if everything is alright. Why do they always have to talk over any discussion that is taking place at the table?

With Spur, you know what you are getting. Good food, good service. Burgers, steaks, etc. A little sad that the children's area has been downgraded. Not sure if it is just during Covid but our kids enjoyed the larger area. Although for being upstairs it does well as a family restaurant.

Quite saddened that the children's play area has been made so small, used to be our favourite place to come with our child, especially on a rainy day, really felt very disappointed today when we saw that the play area is so tiny now, there used to be two trampolines, loads of space for children to run around. Would be a joy of the owners read this and made the play area awesome again, there really was nothing like it in Benoni that had the kind of play area like this Spur used to have.

The hospitality is awesome, the ergonomics are not as good. Some chairs, like the one I sat on was not comfortable. It was unbearably hot, the air-conditioning is not enough. It was slightly dark inside.

Today the 1st of January it was disgusting 🙈 the floors were dirty - the tables and chairs were dirty! No toilet paper and all the waiters standing around like there's nothing to do! When do they clean under the tables???
