Amazing Italian restaurant! Everything we tried was just perfect. You can feel that every dish is prepared from the carefully selected fresh ingredients. The chef is doing a great job preparing every meal with dedication! Also, plates and cutlery are so chic and beautiful!

A real treat 🍻 I had the signature Carbonara dish, the best Carbonara I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying. Went there to celebrate my birthday, the service is 10/10, l wasn’t familiar with the names of the pasta dishes and the waiter patiently explained everything for us. The food was also delicious ,an 8/10 . I wouldn’t mind coming back to try other pasta dishes . And the music is just perfect to enjoy your dinner .

Our first visit was truly a special experience. The welcome we received was warm and set the tone for a wonderful celebratory evening! We were experted guided along our culinary journey by Kevin. The main courses and moctails were out of this world! We are looking forward to our next visit!

It's all over 4 stars. The environment did not work for us. It is very noisy inside due to the open kitchen with a heavy industrial extractor and waiters running around. No privacy, we couldn't hear each other. Excellent service. Pasta was good ,but not something I would personally repeat. Priced and over engineered. I wish I had ordered something else and not pasta. The calamari starter was delicious.

The Tuscan Chicken pasta was good, but not value at R190. R120 for a bottle of sparkling water?!? The service from the waiter was average - I had to remind him to bring my drink. For a place with these prices, paper serviettes are cheap. I couldn't help walking out feeling I had been ripped off.

Great service. From the guards at the gate, with their welcome, to the owner and hostess meeting you at the door. Food was wonderful options if you are vegetarian. Very neat, clean and morder feel. Beautiful place. Also great security. Welcome guys.

Food was great and enjoyed by all at the table. The experience that we had was less great. Waited outside for 45min for our table that we booked a week before. Sat inside for 15min before asking for a beverage menu and was only informed then about the fact that they are still awaiting their license. When the food arrived, one of the orders was also not correct. This was rectified quickly by the restaurant. Good food, but felt like they needed to still focus on some of their processes

Bravely fighting to turn around the generalised decay of restaurants in Pretoria. Fascinating and totally perfect starters. The carbonara is not quite right yet, and the risotto needs more patience in the preparation. Excellent and carefully considered wine selection, without a wine card for selection but a young sommelier who is a living African Platters guide. A wonderfully positive and committed and alert service team, a reflection of hands-on and dedicated management. A modern and elegant atmosphere. One low step moving into the smaller intimate dining area would greatly benefit from attaching one of those thin led light strips on its edge, to guard against unsuspecting customers losing their balance. Well protected and well guarded parking, an essential in our crime infested city, Basta Barra moved quickly into the top rank of the only three to maybe four remaining good restaurants in town. Had the divine chicken livers and fennel and cumin shortbread for a starter. Main course was the slow cooked beef ragu on pappardelle pasta. Would recommend 100%, booking required, so plan your meal well in advance.

Our lunch was delightful, but we were even more thrilled to learn that they had cannoli for dessert. This is the first time we've found cannoli in Pretoria, and we have promised ourselves that we will go back for more!

Heaven finally has a kitchen. Well, it certainly seemed so when tasting the food. Fantastic food at the Chef's Table, backed up by super service. Each course of the 5 is explained in detail just to enhance your experience. A definite MUST for anyone who enjoys Italian Cuisine. Their pasta course and home meals are next on my list.
