Perfect place for a special occasion for seafood lovers. Some of the best seafood I’ve ever had! My husband and I had the oysters which were so fresh and the King’s platter for main. The Kings platter was everything! We were given all the sides with the platter; the food was too much for us to finish though. I loved the bread and sauce that was served. Great staff, great service and great location.

Really amazing food. Could not have asked for a better seafood experience. The staff is super friendly. The owner himself is involved in the day to day and gave service in-person. The food was slightly on the pricier side but well worth the the taste and quality.

Met friends for an overdue lunch. A pleasant experience the staff took good care of us. My meal on the day, Coconut and Peanut Chicken breast with a none dairy sweet chilli sauce, its a must. The sides, creamy spinach and butternut, so good.

Great service and great food. They are consistent with their food presentation and taste. I say this because I went there again only 5 days later and ordered the same thing. I recommend the the salmon tartare, it's refreshing and not heavy on the tummy.

I felt like I was at Ocean Basket with inflated pricing. Everything was prepared in the exact same manner as OB and tasted the exact same as well. The service on Sunday was sub par, to say the least. It is a very popular establishment but the kitchen was not prepared at all. The food was executed properly to be fair when it eventually arrived. However, the service from our waitresses ( Both of them), let the entire experience down. We were sitting in the private area in the middle. It is easy to identify as there are only three areas. We were a Table of 6. Food arrived at different times. Most things that were asked had to be requested twice. Some did not arrive at all. To the management team, you have to plan better and try to be more visible. Did not see a single management staff member. Clearly, either too afraid to hear the truth about the experience or there just is no time to do any "health checks" on your patrons which is why we are here.

The venue is pretty good. Vibey, busy and bustling. Lots of construction is happening, so parking traffic is a nightmare. Fair warning, limited menu for vegetarians....3x items on the menu. Look out for the items on the menu marked with "sq." The price on those items can cost 4x more. You can thank me later.

Excellent service, elegant setup, nice variety of dishes, large portions. Definitely a restaurant to come back to if the majority of the group is for fish and seafood. There is also other proteins to choose from, but I didn't taste any of the meat.

I have been visiting this establishment and others of this franchise in varying locations for 10+ years and I have to say this location is my favourite! The staff are always accommodating, helpful, well versed and friendly. The service is quick and under the attentive care of management, you are guaranteed a pleasant experience. The menu caters not only to fish lovers but also those who enjoy other Portuguese dishes. They even cater to us sushi lovers offering a varied and interesting selection of rolls. Although I myself am not a wine drinker, many times I have dined with people who are, and each time the staff are able to cater to these patrons palettes. They also offer a few staple cocktails and serve all things at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is very homely and a great way to spend time with family. Often times the restaurant is busy but it is reminiscent of the bay-side shops in Europe that are always alight with the buzz of people. The mural in the enclosed seating area depicts a very authentic scene of fisherman bustling to cater to their customers and the staff at this establishment seem to follow in their example.

Went there for my birthday celebration. Ordered Prawn and Avo medley for starters. It was delicious. Prawns were very fresh. I love prawns and i love Avos. Never knew the combo would be even better! For the main course, we ordered the Kingclip and the Falkland Trio. The Falkland Trio was ok. Just fried Calamari's and heads. Quantity was very generous though! The Kingclip - it was by far the BEST fish preparation i have had in South Africa! Was just toooooo sumptuous and finger licking good. I wanted to kiss the chef's hands but it's COVID times, so... :p Loved the ambiance of the place and the service as well. Since it was my birthday celebrations, they presented a super yummy slice of cake at the end. Given an opportunity, would love to visit this restaurant again and try out different things in their menu.

Perfect evening with the most delicious seafood in Johannesburg. Fresh and best quality, prices ok for the quality you get. Very good service, we had an excellent waitor. We were relieved to find a restaurant open on a chilly Sunday night. The charming, courteous host at The Fishmonger ensured our request for a vegan dinner was provided, as there are no vegan choices on the menu. Superb service. Clean, calm decor, nice lighting. Wine by the glass terribly expensive - although you feel like it's going to be a middle price restaurant because it's a franchise with a TV on sports channel, the bill for two glasses of white wine, two vegetable platters and a small bottle of water (no meat, no fish) came to over ZAR800 with tip, which I felt, despite the impeccable service, was somewhat over the top. The morogo spinach, grilled artichokes and boiled baby potatoes were great. The baby tomatoes, steamed asparagus and steamed veg were not seasoned or dressed (this is what puts people off vegetables!) but luckily there was some hummus and about 6 plump, delicious black olives which saved them. I hope the chef will develop a tasty vegan dish to cater to evolving dietary preferences. This is an immaculately well managed restaurant where we felt welcome, and we enjoyed our visit.

I had one of the finest trout dishes ever ever prepared - having eaten trout at some of the top restaurants in SA — the only critique I have was too heavy on the butter -the creamed spinach accompaniment was outstanding spoken by an avid lover of spinach As for my starter - ‘garlic snails’ - also too overwhelmed having been smothered in butter - meaning that I had to used a paper serviette to soak up the excess butter .. but more disappointing the missing ingredient for me was the garlic & seasoning - such a disappointment for a really easy dish - my friends’ halloumi starter was lovely but overall the excess butter on my garlic snails and trout put me off ordering desert. 7/10 for one of Jozi’s top fish restaurants - hmmmmm - underwhelming

Ordered the line fish not expecting to pay R350 for what was a meagre portion. The chewy chips from frozen were really an injustice with the fish. At that undisclosed price one would have hoped for chips freshly cut.

As for the Manu I have never been so happy to see such a rich variety for seafood done the right Portuguese way...I mean the owner ordered specialty cheese for a client from Italy! Go there with empty stomach and hours to spend...you need to experience everything a three coarse meal can mesmerize you with. Well done
