What a lovely restaurant. Great variety of Italian dishes and good hospitality that goes with that. Specials was explained to us and just hearing about it made my mouth water. We had a lovely young man that served us and made sure we were well taken care of. The 🍷 was outstanding, we had a beautifull dry merlot, the wine was completely overpriced with a 200% markup; but the good food and service made up for it. Well worth a visit. A good restaurant are not around every corner. Well done guys.

Took father in law with family to dinner. Regret disappointing experience compared to before - food arrived an hour after ordering (apparently mix up in kitchen), when did arrive meal was seriously salty and cold, vegetable dishes also cold. Waitress's service excellent compensating for overall disappointing experience. Suggest needs more soft furnishings to dampen sound as seriously noisy.

We had the most amazing meal at Caraffa. We have been coming here for years and as always the service and food is amazing. We will definitely be back for the garlic snails on roasted bone marrow, the oxtail with mash and the creme brulee. Was divine!

One would expect better service for the price. My expensive medium-rare fillet was served medium well, and my friend's medium was well done. The vegetables only came halfway through the meal. The pepper sauce was superb however. Regrettably the culinary experience was forgettable.

Been going to Carafa for years and it seems they just get better and better at what they do. The Bisteca (steak) spoils it for all other restaurants I'm afraid and their pizza and pasta offerings are on point. Enrico, Mickela and team... well done!

I had the panzarotti and requested extra sage to accompany it. What arrived was pale, dry and tasteless, with 2 tiny sage leaves. Had to re-request sage. Very disappointing. Requested ice to accompany wine...which did not arrive. Had to request for ice again. The oxtail was fair, although the mash was not. All in all it was quite a disappointing evening as far as food and service were concerned.

Valentines day... Set menu Arrived at 5.55pm and only managed to order our food at 6.30. The starters (Springbok bruscetta) arrived before 7pm and was tasty. Small portions as it seemed I got the tail end of the french loaf. Waited 1 hour and 10min for our mains (medium rare rump with garlic and chillie). When it arrived, the steak looked almost boiled. Grey on the top, no char, no love. Unfortunately the thicker part of the steak was blue, I could not eat that. Dessert was also prompt (I believe they needed to clear the table for the next lot of bookings) and was very good - Orange cake with muscadel on the side. Usually a great experience but I believe they overbooked for the day and it showed in their food as it seemed very rushed. I think our order may have been forgotten and then quickly thrown together. The manager on duty did not care for our opinions on the steak which was meant to be the star of the show. Our drinks waiter (Okkie) was amazing and apologized a few times for the wait and dissatisfaction of the steak. I will give them another try as their oven roasted sirloin was amazing the last time I tried it, also prepared the same way as the rump on valentines day but miles apart. Maybe reconsider how many tables you can actually manage in a night, Caraffa. Good food takes time which you did not have enough of on Valentines day... This experience was not worth a total bill of R1400.

My husband made a reservation more than a week in advance for us to celebrate my Birthday at Caraffa. When arriving at the restaurant ( 17:30) the hostess told us that our table was double booked and we needed to be "out of there by 19:00". Needless to say we were very upset and actually taken back by her attitude towards us. We decided to skip starters as there was no way we would be able to finish a 3 course meal in and hour and a half. Half way through our mains Caraffa phoned my husband to ask him were we were. When he told the gentleman we are sitting in their restaurant he just said " oh okay sorry " ..... we assumed there were some mix up with our reservation and that's why we were treated in that manner and had to sit at an isolated table.... Luckily the service we received from our waitress made up for the front desks disappointing behavior and Stephanie is a real gem. The food is also out of this world. I would suggest when you make a reservation to check in with them again the day before just to make sure all is on board and to avoid embarrassing encounters.

With good wine and a piano playing in the background, it is a perfect setup.The menu is full of authentic Italian dishes from home made pasta and pizza and others. The restaurant also offers South African classics with an Italian twist. The wine list contains lots of wines from outside of South Africa with great staff and service. Booking is essential though 👌🏻

Was my first time there. Food was good, service can improve. I felt that if you were a frequent/usual customer you got special treatment whereas we were sort of left to wait before being served. They were not so busy that we had to wait for a menu, to order drinks. Unfortunately they did not leave a good impression on me.

After a recommendation I received a few years ago, we decided to try out Caraffa. The restaurant was fully booked when I phoned the first time, but reserved a table for the next evening. When we arrived, the hostess was busy on the phone and we had to wait a few minutes before she assisted us. She took us to our table (a bit of a cramped space) and Tiaan came and took our drink orders. The following food orders were placed: Starters: Springbok Carpaccio (all of us) - 8/10 Mains: Fillet Cantina - 9/10 Kingklip Caprice - 8/10 Chicken Supreme - 8/10 Dessert: Crème Brule - 7/10 Pavlova - 8/10 Chocolate Mousse - 7/10 Overall good evening. The meals were good, but I think it must have been a little too rich for our stomachs. Had some upset stomachs later the evening.

One of the few places in Pretoria that still has truly excellent service. It was so refreshing. The atmosphere is cozy and elegant. I really enjeyd my meal too. The ingredients are fresh and of excellent quality. Caraffa has a unique vibe. As a writer I have quite the imagination and felt like I was on the set of an Italian maffia movie. Wouldn't have been surprised if Robert Denero came in and asked for his usual table... It has that kind of old-school charm with a modern twist. They also have a lovely wine list.
