The food is absolutely delicious. The service is fantastic. Unfortunately, parking is a bit of a nightmare. Highly recommended

First time visiting, but will be the first of many. Big menu, excellent food, great prices for generous portions. Decent wine list and lots of daily dish specials based on what's fresh. Knowledgeable waiters, engaged manager. Table of 6 all had something different and everything was spot on. Chilli sauce is amazing 👌🏽 Reserve a table because it's popular.

We were invited by friends to this restaurant and it was an amazing experience. Portuguese cuisine, portuguese flavors and scents... I went for the traditional "Caldeirada de Peixe" (Fish Stew), It was delicious... and my friend managed to ask for an extra: 3 prawns on it... my wife, my sister in law and my friend's wife they went for the Prawn Curry, it looked very good. My brother in law had the classic "Bife à Portuguesa" (Steak a la Portuguese). All dishes were prepared while we waited. The service is very good, very good personell, very professional and friendly. One of them actually, from Mozambique, approached the table to say Hi in Portuguese. The Menu is vast and hard to choose... all dishes are desirable... without forgetting the deserts... I had "Arrôs Dôce" (Rice Pudding) a portuguese delicacy. Good portuguese wines, vast choice between prices and quality... The restaurant was crowded/full. I suggest a reservation before you try it. If you like Portuguese food, here you will be home. We loved it, we will go back... Well done.

The restaurant was very busy, but service was still good. Clam and potato dish was tasty, so was the pasta dish. Nice range of desserts too. A great Portuguese place with a wide variety of dishes for all.

An excellent Portuguese restaurant in the heart of the Northern Suburbs. Incredible service and really good food - served in a space that has managed to capture that “rustic homeliness” despite being surrounded by the contemporary, lifeless architecture of a shopping centre. So it feels like a “haven” of sorts.

It is always like coming home to ur favorite meal!! Always awesome, always a treat. Whether just a lunch or dinner, or a business meeting lunch, certainly without doubt one of the very best restaurants in SA. I stay in the Cape, and every business trip begims and ends with 1920. Well hosted, great value, great service, great taste!! Awesome vibe!! Love it!! If I had to choose, the last meal of my life, it would be from 1920. Manny, Paula and the team.....thank you. Very popular MADEIRA style restaurant, need to make reservations. The meal we had was reasonably priced . The owner Manny is the only order taker and has the full knowledge of the menu. His wife Paula is a hands on chef and the plates are well balanced meals.The wines are all from Portugal and reasonably priced. Very enjoyable evening .Thank you.

Truly authentic and genuine Portuguese dishes . The owner is always around and checking on the patrons . Attention to quality of the food is not overlooked Hyde Park branch will be there to stay . One of the only good Portuguese restaurants available in the Northern suburbs that is NOT commercialised . Brilliant !!!

Lovely ambient. Very good service. The best and most complete Portuguese menu in town, with lots of additional interesting Brazilian variations and classics like Picahina. Fantastic and different wine selection with some the really outstanding Portuguese wines. But there is some room for perfection to justify the high price levels. The bacalhau starter came overcooked, the prawn curry could have come with a slightly more generous helping of little prawns, and the portuguese rice pudding was nice but came with somewhat atypical variations and the pasteis de natas should have been made with puff pastry to be delicious.
