Reviews of The KwaZulu-Natal Society of the Arts
A great place to get work done after touring the exhibition space and filling yourself up with their creamy delicious chicken pasta 👌🏿😂. You then pretend to work very hard hoping a stranger might break a conversation you too much of an introvert to initiate 😔.
The venue is beautiful. It has the best of both the outdoors and indoors. It caters to events like art exhibitions because of the mezzanine level and the natural elements. There was sufficient seating and good air circulation, which is important in a crowded space. Muholi is a class act! I expected nothing but the best and they delivered. Brilliant event at a good venue.
Such a great place to have breakfast or lunch.. Cafe and art gallery is Aesthetically pleasing, I loved the whole vibe.
A favorite in Kzn that really needs the publics support. The coffee shop offers options for everyone in a delightful garden setting and space for kids to be entertained at the same time. Browse the gallery or craft shop to get your creativity flowing or find that personalized gift. Let's get out there and support this community.
Stunning hidden gem, though it shouldn't be hidden at all. Stunning and very delicious cafe, and a big outdoor seating area with a big kids play spot. Inside the gallery has rotating exhibitions with local artists from kzn. Also be sure to visit the shop. It is full of lovely goods all the way from very affordable notebooks pencil cases etc., to high quality goods including silver and Carol Boyes collection and dresses and pottery.
Lovely arts and crafts for sale. Food tasty and well priced!
Nice little restaurant that’s kids friendly.good food and coffee.menu with lots of variety including Banting and vegan options.fantastic local art
Beautiful exhibitions, food and curios.
Love being able to sit outside and enjoy a good cappuccino. Food is great, and so is the service. Carrot cake is amazing, as is many if the other options. Kid friendly. Enjoy the art exhibitions, when they are on and also enjoy the little shop there. Beautiful, very South African art, jewellery, and home goodies. Love it!
The instution is amazing - love that they change their displays often. There were a variety of items for sale; books, pottery, candles and clothing and that was quite cool. We also visited the restaurant/Cafe. Loved the setting and the warm drinks - very good coffee, however the group had mixed reviews about the food. The burgers were really great but the chicken strips+chips needs some reinventing. Maybe state that it's grilled and only 3 pieces? The portion was a bit of a miss on that dish. Overall, go for the art and some drinks and burgers.
A really relaxed atmosphere. Staff are very friendly. Most amazing food. And a great place to meet friends. And visit the shop where you can buy locally crafted jewelry, cushions, and so much more. I love meeting friends here.
Artwork, live music, food and most importantly great company! Nothing to complain about!!!!❤🤸🏿♀️
Showcase of different art works updated every so often. Beautifully structured building that welcomes its audience. I must say that it is not wheelchair friendly.
It was a varsity commitment to go and look at the current artworks. We were allowed to wonder around and interpret the artworks. At the end, one of the ladies that worked there informed us about the artwork further.
Has a creative and healthy meal selection and is a great place to chat over some coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating, but they don’t allow smoking on the premises. The offer a restaurant as explained and a cute shop filled with amazing goods if you’re willing to spend a bit.
Parking is around the side of the gallery and there is a car guard to make sure your car is safe.
Overall great experience. Can’t wait to go back
Went the the extra mile for mobility impaired patrons, assisting me and my friend with table seating downstairs, near the front door. We were blown away by these staff's show of compassionate concern. Thank you ladies at gentlemen work there you are all amazing people.
Great family breakfast spot! Best coffee. There is a kids play area with a child-minder. It's a plus for parents that would like to have an adult breakfast but still keep the kids entertained. You can also enjoy the beautiful galaxy. You have to go just to experience its unique airy setup. Nice morning out
Lovely atmosphere, great food
One of my favourite places to go to in Durban. I love how peaceful yet lively it is. The food is always yummy yet reasonably priced and the staff is lovely. The cherry on top is being able to view whichever artwork is on exhibition and roaming around the little gift shop.
A wonderful place to visit. Relaxed friendly vibe. Interesting craft shop and lovely cafe that serves everything delicious...milkshakes are to die for. Even a jungle gym for the littlies.
I cannot rave enough about this shop. They have an amazing selection to art and crafts from some incredibly talented artists. Additionally, the woman who runs the shop is so wonderful and knowledgeable about what they have for sale and the artists they carry.
Totally a five star experience.
Beautiful place to visit, hang out, meet people, have a bite and/or drink and enjoy art. It has a great vibe to it and you can take a walk in the nearby park if you're inclined to do so 🙂
Loved the Buddha bowl in the morning with a hot cup of cappuccino.
Can't recommend enough 😉
It was beautiful and very interesting, absolutely loved the pasta ♥️
Nice peaceful setting in open space. Play area for children. Art Gallery to visit as well as arts and crafts shop. Second hand books and clothing also on sale. The capuchino is one of the best. Food is good and staff are friendly.
Lovely little coffee shop restaurant with big outdoor area. Exhibits are easily accessible and usually free (support them with a membership). Large gift shop and even a kids jungle gym. Good recipe
This is one stop I always make when in Durban. Beautiful murals outside make it even worthwhile when they are closed but they have a lovely restaurant and a wonderful shop with unique art and gifts e.g. homeware, jewelry, clothing, books and toys. And then there is the art gallery ❤️
Awesome vibe and good mocha's.If you are captonian in Durban, or just someone who enjoy the V & A waterfront, Cape Town, then this place is ideal for you. Similar vibe.
The KZNSA is a Glenwood landmark, their breakfasts are fantastic and the atmosphere is relaxed. The shop is great and supports local artists and the gallery usually has some great South African art on the walls, however there is no permanent collection. The cafe service is always slow, but you get used to it and honestly it isn't the wait staffs fault, the kitchen is generally slow. Overall, it's a great venue to view some contemporary South African art and breakfast or brunch
The food and there's African vibe about this place. You get to meet some high profile people and mingle with business minded people. It's a great spot to hang out with your loved ones.
KZNSA never disappoints. The food is always delicious and the coffee hits the spot. The art gallery adds a nice touch for visitors interested in art. This spot is very trendy and is recommended as a tourist destination as you can buy South African curios at the KZNSA shop.
This place is very cozy and rustic in a very beautiful and artistic way. The food is great, it's a bit pricey but it's worth it! The art sold there is very affordable and it's a great place to host events
The contemporary art galley keeps you inspired and busy well you wait for friends to join. Well the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the few interesting aspects on the yummy menu that won't break the budget .
Lovely breakfast options. Coffee good. Service reasonable. Good option if you have young kids. Sand art option and a minder to give parents a breather.
Lovely Sunday morning spent checking out the "From Scratch" exhibition as the rain pelted down outside. Beautiful building in a beautiful setting. Will definitely return to see the next exhibition.
The place is in Glenwood in Bulwer Park. The restaurant shares a building with the art gallery. At the restaurant you sit indoors or outdoors. Good service, friendly staff.
Loved the waitrons and service is friendly and efficient. Very pleasant to sit under the trees in the shade. The barista..on leave at the moment is excellent. Recommend
Great food, atmosphere and staff. But the place was a bit dirty and also the tables were too. I understand that it is outdoor, but they should atleast wipe them when someone sits down...
Great food and atmosphere. Kiddies playground and child minder. Local shop stocked with great South African arts and clothing. Excellent local gallery.
Nice cool vibe. Good paintings, prints and crafts for sale. Very helpful and competent staff. Good food
If you are wanting a peaceful and unique outing. The food is great and the Art is inspiring.
It's beautiful and has new art every few weeks or months and the food there is excellent. The souvenir shop is a little pricey but it has beautiful gifts.
This place has just remained a gem.
I have been going there since it started.
Thank you for keeping it a must stop everytime I visit my old home.
I recently had the misfortune to leave the country.KZN arts cafe was my home away from home.I never had a bad meal or an unpleasant experience in all my years of coming here.Thandeka..you are my Africa daughter. The owners should be proud to have surrounded themselves with such amazing people. My Saterdays and Sundays are empty with out you........John Hewson
Community restaurant and always art exhibitions and demonstrations happening there. Great food and lovely place to sit outside under the trees. A gift shop with crafts.
Your upcoming artists displaying their work. There are fantasticart to be seen - some very thought-provoking. Great outdoors restaurant
Had the most divine chocolate cake there. The shop is a treasure trove of local art and talent. Love going there
Great little shop on the side of the gallery. The Cafe is also a wonderful location under the dappled shade
Down to earth, accessible, beautiful and dynamic, the combination of art gallery, shop and fantastic café in a park setting makes this a great location for inspiring conversations, thought provoking art and lovely, relaxing times
Always a pleasure attending events here. Spacious, clean, good food and drinks, and a bonus is that they are a 'green' establishment
Haven't been there in years but still a wonderful place to meet surrounded by art ! Love it!
Enjoy great coffee, cakes and wifi while surrounded by unique artworks...what more do you need! Fantastic spot!
great place. They have nice coffee and cake. Small place for kids to play.
Amazing but I wish it had more artwork and more seating inside the restaurant on rainy days
Worth the experience
Coffee great. They need to train staff on allergies, intolerances and food additives.
Quirky,I like the use of space and dining on the stairs.
The food was great and the service was exceptional. The price was good too:-)
Zucchini Fritters
Absolutely delightful
Nothing else needed
I had a great time in one of the days when I enjoyed the music until a rat came out 😃 it was very funny.
Great art on display as well as for sale. Also really enjoyed the night Market that happens on Thursdays
Beautiful experience! Gorgeous exhibitions. Love the coffee shop too.
Nice atmosphere and food, but the restaurant is starting to look a bit tired.
Very chilled place. Nice food. Love the environment.
Nice setting, good food, reasonable prices and friendly staff.
Great environment, loved the attention paid to social marginalization of artist from South Africa juxtaposed to the world art market.
Best Eggs Benedict in Durban. Great service. Cool shop.
It was refreshing, clean and perfect place for a Saturday breakfast meeting
Great vibe, great people. Just wish there was more to see in terms of Art.
Beautiful space, very nice cafe with an amazing atmosphere
An amazing place to enjoy good food wine and art...
Great offerings that truly shouts creativity and artistic endowment🤌🏿👌🏿
Lovely place and great service.
The place i live plus there's no bad movements where you find thugs rob people
The Art is Godly also the side Restaurant is a bonus.
Best place were you can find wire and beads works of art
Lovely place to wind down and rest
❤️❤️
A little overpriced
A wonderful area for relaxing, socializing and meeting with friends, you can have a delicious meal in a cafe in the shade of luxury promotions, the gallery itself is small but interesting, next to it is a souvenir shop: ceramics, especially good wooden crafts, books, postcards, cosmetics, textiles... I recommend!
Great atmosphere. Very artistic.
