We go to this nature reserve a lot and have really made it a mission to explore every part of this place. The walk ways were a little washed away after the storm we had a couple of weeks ago. To walk along the river in nature is one of the most relaxing things to do and best way wind down from a busy week, highly recommended!

Awesome hiking trial. This nature reserve has one long river of which the trial travels along. At times the trial is right next to the river on ground level, other times the trial is on the height of the hill from which you can oversee the river. A great place to go if you just looking for an adventurous walk to stretch those calfs.

If you are thinking about going deep into the trail, past "E11" beacon, be prepared for a challenging hike which may not be well suited for inexperienced hikers and young kids as it can get risky. The pathways past "E11" beacon are also not well directed and it is easy to pick an incorrect river crossing path. Better upkeep of the trails from becoming taken over with vegetation would be very helpful. With the above in mind, it still is one of the few challenging and engrossing hikes around KZN.

If You up for a good hike, then this nature reserve will surely exceed your expectations. It has good hiking trails that also run along the palmiet river. With great climbs and views of the surrounding areas the trails take you down different escapements and ridges that will sure leave you in awe of this gem of a place. I highly recommend it for hikers and a good outing with family and friends.

Great place for a relaxing walk with many options of paths of varying lengths. Fairly good birdlife. Well maintained trails and friendly staff. Please don't litter if you visit or disturb people by making a noise... It is a nature reserve.

The views and bush is great, however, the trail signage is very bad and you will not get to your destination as you walk around aimlessly wondering where you are. Proper signage needs to be implemented. Also saw no picnic spots and the boma has no table just benches.

Firstly it's the Palmiet Valley Reserve! It has great walking trails catering for various levels of fitness. Walking, hiking, clambering and bouldering. Guided groups can be arranged for Sundays, just check their web presence...

Enjoyed a quick visit to photograph birds in pretty average weather. Paths are nicely laid out and benches are plentiful. Will visit again to fi D more birds!
