Very nice stop over. Even my cat loved it…👌
Yes, it’s an old motel but when you consider how many travellers have stayed here over the years or seen it from the road, its reputation precedes it. I recently stayed here again after a 40-year gap and was delighted by the friendliness of the staff, the clean Karoo air and the surprisingly good restaurant. The rooms are basic but clean and very good value for the price. I won’t be around in another 40 years, but Wagon Wheel surely will be.
Perfect as a midway stop from jhb or kzn to Capetown if you have pets
We were in a caravan so i cannot rate on anything else. The place is absolutely fine for an overnight stay. Seems safe and secure . No problems. Ablutions old but clean. No individual braais or water taps although there was a fenced area for braaing with a small pool.
Very clean. Great bedding. Great shower. Only criticism would be to up their game at the restaurant. Food is not good and clean the light fittings full of bugs. Otherwise lovely place to overnight. Small jobs to fix around the room but rome was not built in one day. Compared to the bad reviews i feel the complete opposite. Well done guys. Will be back
Good overnight facility. Rooms are clean, staff friendly. No space to sit outside and relax at the room we had. Restaurant serves good food at a reasonable price.
Great spot, just out of town. Went there for drinks, and I am looking forward to trying their food soon. The service I received was really good
Perfect for a quick rest. Zero hassle check in and check out.
Clean and comfortable rooms.
Very nice restaurant and bar.
I always make this my stop over place when traveling the CPT - JHB and return route. Staff very welcoming and obliging with a smile. Reasonable overnight rates.
Rooms always spotless, with kettle and coffee/tea after a long trip, to unwind. Have not had the pleasure of a longer stay, but all amenities look great. Would and have recommended.
My husband and two of our employees stayed for two nights. The reception and staff was very friendly. The rooms however are outdated. There's no TV. The cupboard has an old smell, kept it closed , didn't put our clothes in there . We could hear people walk up and down and talking all night,at least until 12am. Even when they're talking,it's real loud. When the people in the room next door uses the bathroom,we hear the door opening and noise as they're moving around. Each time someone entered or left their room, on both sides of us, we heard them put in the key, lock open and open or close the door. So clearly as if they're in our room . We were told WiFi does not reach where we were staying. We had very little sleep, 4 to 5hrs. I will not refer this place to anyone nor will I be returning.
Great food, really great food; there's room for improvement for lunch packs, but dinner and breakfast are really really good. Regarding the rooms, it all depends on what kind of a suit you get. Economy rooms, you get what you pay for, Standard rooms are decent and luxury rooms are also really decent for a 3 star establishment
The staff is friendly, the food amazing, we really enjoyed our stay. I will definitely stay here agian.
A good place to stop and rest for the night. It is a little over priced for what you get (in my opinion). WiFi available, there's a TV in the room. No fridge or microwave in the room. There is a hair dryer. Free parking on the premises but it is not covered or sheltered. Beds are comfortable. They have room service and menus in the room
Don't fully believe the room that was given was the one that was booked for. But was quite a good room. Restaurant was very busy so waited a while for food, the patty on burger was raw in middle. Further more services good the people are behond friendly. Security was good. Will definitely recommend to others.
The rooms were clean. No place to sit inside, just 1 chair inside a 5 sleeper unit.
No microwave or fridge.
Beds are comfortable. Overall good but shower not great.
Little overpriced
We stopped on the way to Cape Town for the night during lockdown level 3. The management and owners were very kind and accommodating and had been serving essential services people for a while already.
The building is old and requires maintenance, but we had a pleasant stay and I would recommend it as a good stop over for a night or two..
The kids really enjoyed riding their bikes and swimming in the pool but I'm sure it was better in it's heyday. The rooms could have been cleaner and better maintained. The resturant is a long way from being the best in town. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful although I would not rate this as good value for money in season.
Had an incredible stay-over. And the adorable cats! Wish I could take them all on the trip with me🥹🤌🏻🙏🏻
Such a wonderful experience from the minute that we arrived. Staff gave a new meaning to service and going the extra mile. Madeleine was amazing and made us feel like family from the first minute. This is a place where moments matter and beautiful memories are made. Thank you for such a wonderful experience ❤
This may be a low cost experience but this did not prevent the bedroom and linen being clean and spotless. The food in the restaurant was tasty. Overall, great value for money.
Good for a night stay-over with a caravan
It is a good place for a sleep over and rest. Loved that it has a 24hr check in facility. The restuarant was good and served descent meals. It has an old charm about it and it makes sense seeing that it was the first fully licensed motel in the country🙂
The rooms just brings bad memories of a hostel life. Six people sharing one room and a shower.. the rooms r without tv n air conditioner but the rooms are in good condition. And the price is reasonable which includes breakfast. They also have deluxe rooms
The service at the desk was not very friendly or enthusiastic to help us. The backpacker rooms were nice enough though. Beds were a little hard.
Only real irritation was that the bathrooms are always locked and you have to unlock them each time. Also there is only one shower for the five back packer rooms.
Bathroom was clean. Camping area clean. Service was efficient. One gents toilet was leaking continuously. The kitchen plugs were not working and the stove was broken. Kitchen needs to be refurbished
Wagon wheel does the job for an overnight stay in the karoo. The rooms are clean and presentable. The beds are firm and come with tv and small tea/coffee station. Your car can be parked right outside your door, and there is a swimming pool to have a dunk before switching off for the night. All in all, it does the job.
Very clean and tidy rooms. Best place to stay overnight when travel to Cape Town
The service at the restaurant was excellent and so was the food. Our accommodation (semi self catering) was not nearly the standard as per their website and therefore very disappointing.
Great location, friendly staff.
However, not value for money, it is a bit overpriced for what you get.
I really enjoyed watching the rabbits, chickens, geese and ducks. The rooms are sufficient for a comfy and warm sleep over with the option of dinner and breakfast, which is like home cooked food (depending who's cooking). Various lekker braai areas and a fully stocked bar in walking distance. In summer, I'd love to take a dip in their pool!
Net place. Worth sleep over but they need to advises people to consider fellow residents to be quite as geusts are stll sleeping. Otherwise I would give it a 10 out of 10
A great place to overnight staff very friendly and would advise anyone to make it there distanation
On arrival we were very impressed clean friendly helpful we headed to our room near clean as we had traveled from we were looking forward to a good dinner on entering the lounge/bar a fire was lit the barman became our waiter pla e our dinner order had a beer started to relax ah ah dinner arrived looked awesome but........... The rice on my husband's plate was MIA as the dinni g room at that time was empty bar us no one came to check if all was good.... Im sure everyone will agree share rice we hungry ...... NOW THE EXCITING PART OF OUR DINNER EXPERIENCE......
Waitress comes to clear the table I tell her that my husband's bobotie was served with out rice............
(My husband doesn't like pumpkin)
We asked for the pumpkin to be replaced with Orion rings.........
The reply from our waitress was if we put rice on your plate we would have charged you extra........ Oh my word..... Your menu states. Bobotie/rice
Anyway the food was awesome the portions of bobotie served rather very small the amount of beans/pumpkin/rice served for one person is enough to share with another
Off we go to our room it's a very cold winters night we want a fast hot shower......
On my word that's a dream for another time
Water pressure none just a little drip of water so no showering
We do acknowledge that Beaufort West has a water problem advise one on arrival that there is limited water
Otherwise it was a clean safe overnight experience
Despite my team and I only sleeping for a few hours due to very late arrival, I enjoyed it and the breakfast was great!
Stayed in the Self Catering units SC44 & SC45. Turned out to be the best stay. They are one little house, with two apartments. Great space.
The most amazing stay for a stopover or just a long vacation ,big families small families they accommodate everyone ,2 pools on the premises which make it a big hit, small park for little ones, restaurant and bar on premises,we had lunch and dinner at the restaurant and if you interested in braai restaurant makes delicouis salads, rooms are very clean and cleaning service available in price .Charlton and Roelfie at reception go out of there way to assist guests.
This place is awesome. Food is delsih, people friendly, premises clean, rooms very clean, cozy and beautiful. Def. recommended.

What a great place to spend to overnight
Rooms clean and neat, adequate for sleep only. Pet friendly big plus but over priced.
Rooms comfortable and clean, did not have to share with resident bugs .Good food, not necessary to leave premises for other restaurants.Safe parking for vehicle.
Excellent service, the rooms are comfortable and the rates very reasonable.
Lovely place with lots of rooms and the people at reception are very friendly and helpful

Great value for money 💰 can recommend them
Good and glean, meads an air-conditioning
We regularly make use of their services for work travel and I've never been disappointed. If any problems occur, they are quick and friendly to sort it out.
Wagon Wheels' campsite really surprised me with their neat pitches, equipped with a braai drum and grill, a 220 Volt power point and shade trees. There is a swimming pool to cool off on the hot days. Ablution facilities are very neat with always hot water. There is a restaurant on the premises where you can go for breakfast and dinner. I definitely recommend this place for the traveler looking for rest in a safe environment.
Hot water, clean beds, affordable and discounted. Nice food in own restaurant.
very friendly and helpful rooms very clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend it
