Reviews of La Rose Bed & Breakfast
This is the friendliest place to stay at Bo-Kaap. I’m a regular guest at B&Bs in this part of Cape Town, and my experiences have varied. The executive studio at La Rose is the best room if you’re looking for lots of space and privacy. Rose St still has a few trouble spots after dark, but walking around in the day time is very safe.
We stayed here for 5 nights and we would definitely stay here again if we ever go back to Cape Town. This is such a charming and authentic place situated in one of the most historic areas in all of Cape Town. The breakfast was simple yet super delicious. The staff is really welcoming and Yoann (the owner) makes sure that your stay is as pleasant as possible. I highly recommend this place for both short and long stays!
Had such an amazing stay at La Rose, which was made possible by the owner Yoann and his manager Sipiwe. The lady welcomed me very warm and helped me with my luggage. I acknowledged her advices regarding how to get around and had nice chats with her about the area.
The breakfast is super delicious, even fresh homemade bread and an omelet that feeds your needs for a super exciting and adventurous day. Up until my late flight I was allowed to store my belongings and they'd still send me off with a warm see you now now :)
Ciao for now

Central place in cape-town. In the neighborhood there were a lot of good restaurants. You can park in front of the BnB. The owner was pleasant company during breakfast. Breakfast was perfect (especially the omelettes and fresh fruit).
The room can be cold during the winter, but they've got a quite good heater.
The room itself was tiny (but that was probably what we paid for).
Great set up. Very close to city center. Neighborhood is safe and guards are looking after you car parked outside. Room are small but with all the equipment needed (AC - TV - fan). It a bit noisy tho with the breakfast table on the terrace. Yohan, the owner, is very helpfull and will give you the information that you need.
The rooms aren't enormous, but everything else about this place was great: clean and organised, good location, nice breakfast, well priced, and lovely little roof deck with views of surrounding Bo Kaap and Table Mountain. Great spot to be based for a Cape Town visit.
La Rose has true heart, a lovely small B&B in the middle of beautiful Bo Kaap. The breakfasts are wonderful.
More than just colour
When you mention Cape Town, you probably think of Table Mountain, sunshine, wine and the colours of Bo-Kaap.
Well, amidst the 'colours' lies a bed and breakfast with a perfect location, secure entrance, friendly service, clean rooms, comfortable beds, good breakfast (with the best marmalade jam I've ever had!) and a great host in Yoann who is knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and engaging. A genuinely nice guy.
Finally, he also gave me the number of a guide, Madeeg, whom is from Bo-Kaap. I very highly recommend him. He's friendly, knowledgeable, professional, punctual and tall so you'll feel very safe with him at all times. Just ask Yoann for his number because he is the perfect guide for Cape Town.
And so is La Rose for your accommodation in this beautiful city because this B&B really is more than just colour.
Super cute little B&B in Bo-Kap. Loved my stay.
I'm definitely not rushing back.
This place made me so happy.. On my birthday in the mother city and felt like it was a dream.
One of the best bed and breakfast places in Capetown
Great place with great staff
Welcoming, friendly and relaxing.
Our favorite place in South Africa. Magnificent, very cozy, spacious, very comfortable room and small balcony. Very colorful Bo Kaap district and many visits can be done on foot from there (center, waterfront, boarding for Robben Island
Very secure: we had a rental car parked on the street with a guard all night. The owner, being a French expatriate, gave us a lot of information. Excellent breakfast with homemade products and magnificent roof top. To address to strongly advise
Very well placed to serve the main centers of interest in the city. Very friendly welcome from the owner. However, we would have appreciated a common space or being able to relax as a family when staying several nights. Good breakfast but we would have appreciated a little more variety and more heating in the room.
Everything went very well during our 5 nights. In the Bo Kaap district and close to Long Street, the house is very comfortable and the staff are very smiling and friendly. The breakfasts are very good (especially the homemade cakes), as is the bread. Thank you so much
We spent 3 nights as a family in this very well located place in Cape Town in the Bo Caap district. Close to shops and restaurants and Company’s Garden for walking. We discovered a splendid African art market nearby to make our memories. |Table mountain is not very far either but by car. 15 minutes by Uber. |The decor of these guest rooms is neat. The place is quite unusual and the welcome is very friendly. Yann will give you all the necessary advice in French for French speakers and will prepare you a wonderful breakfast to start the day off right. |I highly recommend.
I would like to highlight the quality of the outstanding and very warm welcome offered by all the staff who were most accommodating. |We arrived early in the day and were welcomed so that we could quickly begin our stay in Cape Town (secure baggage drop-off, explanations, handover of keys, etc.)|The room was very clean, king bed, good size and equipped with A/C.|The location is ideal for soaking up the spirit of Cape Town being located in the Bo-Kaap district.|Yoan and his team are very accommodating. Our flight was at 11 p.m. on the day of our check-out and we were allowed to leave our belongings in a secure place to enjoy the last day without hassle in addition to being able to take a shower before our departure for the airport. |In short, quality room, ideal location in the city, unparalleled service from our hosts. |I highly recommend!
Very nice room and location. Close to the city without being in the rush of the center.
You will be welcomed by Johan who manages the place, very friendly and friendly.
We spent 4 nights in this room, the breakfast was great with a great choice of egg dishes and homemade omelettes!
4 stars because we found the insulation very thin and therefore the room very noisy as well as the brightness in the room.
Nothing too serious, we put earplugs in our ears and masks over our eyes.
Regardless, I highly recommend this room!
The hotel's location and the charm of the Bo-kaap district are ideal for visiting the city. And above all the very friendly and helpful presence of Yoan, the owner of the place. Present during breakfast, who takes the time to speak in all languages with each of his guests. It gives a very very nice atmosphere. Thanks to him, we feel that he loves what he does. |The breakfast is excellent, with salted butter of course (Yoan is Breton), delicious fruit salad, eggs, good bread (rare in South Africa).|Superb small terrace (roof top) which overlooks the Table Mountain. |Unbeatable value for money |We highly recommend
It is rare for a B&B, or restaurant or other Lodge to be unanimously unanimous in the same family as it is difficult to please and satisfy everyone's tastes and desires...||La Rose is one of those exceptions which confirms the rule. ||With its magnificent colorful facade, the Rose is not only located in the heart of Bo Kaap, it is one of the mosaic tiles of this Malay district located at the foot of Signal Hill.||Tastefully decorated and rehabilitated, benefiting from all the modern amenities, this B&B is a real pearl.||Perhaps a little noisy (and still) and in certain respects reminiscent of a Spanish inn, wouldn't the Rose precisely embody the spirit of Bo Kaap.||What can we say about the warmth of the welcome (it is rare to be able to interact so easily with Yoann and his staff) and the quality of the breakfast which make this B&B the place to be !||We recommend 200% and take advantage of this message to express our thanks to the entire team for this great experience
What a nice place. Delicious breakfast. Nice rooms. Good tips and concerns by Yoann. Super location with the center (Green Market Square) and a wonderful African restaurant nearby. Highly recommended.
La Rose is a small guesthouse with a reasonable number of rooms in two houses that are practically next to each other. My room was very small but sufficient and quiet (Garden Room). Other rooms could be noisier as they may face the street or the inner courtyard, where breakfast is served from 8:30 a.m.||||Breakfast is sufficient with egg dishes on request. The owners join us in the morning.||||Let's be honest: Anyone who wants a classic hotel will be disappointed here. But if you're looking for cozy accommodation with a personal touch away from the big hotel chains and would like to chat with other travelers at the breakfast table in the morning, this is the right place for you
A real pleasure for us to have spent our first 3 nights in RSA with Johan and his wife. The place is central, the services are in line with what we found subsequently, that is to say very good. The staff is smiling. Big plus: the excellent breakfasts, taken in the company of our hosts and other travelers. Always useful and pleasant moments of exchange. We will come back!
We stayed in August with our 2 children (in separate rooms). Our room (Mandela Room) is spacious and welcoming. The other (if I'm not mistaken the Rose Room) is smaller but still clean and welcoming. In general we had a very good time. Excellent breakfast served in a common area which makes it easier to get to know other guests. The owner is always present at breakfast and available for advice (as is the staff). The area is not exactly central (the Waterfront is a 15-20 minute walk). There is wi-fi but in some rooms it is intermittent (for example the Mandela). I would like to point out the Marco's restaurant a few steps away, with live music and excellent meat dishes.
Bed and Breakfast la Rose, an establishment run by Yoan a Frenchman, is located in the BO KAAP district, in the city center of Cape Town. Very picturesque neighborhood to which its acid-colored houses give a very particular style.|The rooms are very clean. Nothing is missing for our comfort: wine cellar, television, small private terrace, very comfortable large bed, safe. The bathroom has a shower and a bathtub in our Mandela suite.|The breakfast is very generous and excellent. Yoan ensures that nothing is missing for his guests. In the morning, there is a briefing and debriefing of the various tenants of the establishment. Moments of sharing and conviviality around a large table lit by a skylight.|It’s a bit like home. A lot of French people come here. The bread there is like in France.|Yoan is inexhaustible about his second country, giving us good advice on the different outings to take in town or in the surrounding area.|A very friendly person, he immediately puts us at ease. He also took care of the taxi for our arrival and departure. The room was made available to us early in the morning of our arrival, which is appreciated after a night flight.
We had a great 4 night stay at La Rose. Comfortable and clean room, bathroom too. Full breakfast. Every morning we have breakfast with Yoann, its owner, with whom we share pleasant chats. All the staff are very friendly and the location is ideal for walking around Bo-Kaap and the central area.
The b&b is very nice, the room (rose room) is quite spacious, well furnished and quiet despite being at the entrance to the structure. You meet the owner, Yohan, every morning having breakfast (good but nothing exceptional) and he is very available to give advice...The location is good, especially having the car to visit the surroundings of Cape Town, and it is convenient for walking in the Bo'Kaap area (I particularly recommend the Africa Cafe very close by). I would certainly stay here again.
The B&B offers good value for money, it is located in the city center, in the beautiful Bo-Kaap neighborhood and is very close to the street with the most fashionable restaurants (Bree St). The B&B has cozy and very clean rooms. During breakfast, a very nice atmosphere is created with the rest of the guests, as breakfast is served in a small dining room where several rooms usually coincide. The hotel owner is friendly and is in charge of booking any tour or transfer you need.
Excellent accommodation, Yoann made us very welcome with lots of advice and recommendations. The breakfast is excellent. Quiet accommodation.
To recommend.
The accommodation is excellent for the price paid in the city. Well located in the Bo Kaap, a short walk from the bars and restaurants area, but very calm and quiet.||There are two excellent local restaurants within a 2 minute walk, in case you don't feel comfortable going into the center on the street. night.||The owner, Yoann, is a charming man who strives to help guests feel comfortable in the accommodation, as well as advising them with complete sincerity on places and activities depending on the weather of the day. He speaks several languages, which is also appreciated.||The rooms are simple, but have everything you need to stay for 2/3 days and the breakfasts included with the rest of the guests are usually entertaining.||The street is quiet and always There is free space to park without being a paid area||Highly recommended for relatively tight pockets
Very good B&B in a great location in Cape Town. Great atmosphere with a roof terrace and a view over the CBD. At breakfast, all guests usually sit together with the owner. You exchange ideas and think about what the best idea for the day is! Great!
We spent four days at La Rose B&B and they were wonderful days. Yoann, the owner, and his wife treated us like we were old friends, and made us feel comfortable and familiar the entire time. We had never been to Cape Town and Yoann advised us very well, including suggesting excellent restaurants and bars for all budgets and tastes, and even taking the tour bus instead of renting a car on our first few days.||||Also, When we told him that my partner and I had just gotten engaged, he gave us a bottle of wine and recommended interesting places to celebrate.||||Something you can't miss are the eggs that Yoann cooks for breakfast. As if you were in a fine dining restaurant! Yoann and his wife know how to integrate guests and during breakfast you spend very pleasant moments interacting with all the guests, which relaxes you in the morning and gives you a feeling of being in a familiar place. ||||La Rose is a place I would definitely return to, surrounded by good places to eat and relax. You just have to be aware that at around 4am you hear the chanting of the nearby mosques, but it is an interesting detail and after a few minutes, you can go back to sleep, and if you had a good day of sightseeing, you will be so tired that you won't you will wake up to nothing!!!||||If you are going to Cape Town, stay at La Rose for a simply unforgettable experience.
Booking a stay at La Rose B&B was a pleasant surprise for me! Modest, picturesque space in one of Cape Town's most characteristic neighborhoods - Maliano. Very good price and quality of service. And excellent breakfasts with the hosts always present and very communicative, in several languages.
The location near Bree Street makes it a good base in Cape Town. In addition, the host is very helpful. The rooms are small but clean. Considering the price, highly recommended. Unfortunately, parking has to be on the street, but there is a guard at night. The breakfast is limited but good (Fresh bread!!)
Breakfast is very simple, fruit bread, eggs, juice and yogurt. But after all, it’s free and the room price is cheap. |The most important thing to me is that the Internet is free and fast; I have found many hotels with the same price and the best one. The boss is also very helpful, willing to help, and willing to deal with problems in a timely manner. The price is not expensive either. So I have been living here for a long time. |The road next to it is a little noisy; and there is a mosque nearby that sings sutras at six or seven fixed times every day, seemingly for people to pray; if you are sleeping at that time, you will definitely be woken up. Fortunately, I slept with earplugs. |The location is pretty good. Although it is located near a mountain and is not very lively, walking to one side is the city center and walking to the other side is Green Point? Anyway, they are both bustling places.
Clean rooms, clean environment. Delicious breakfast. Perfect host with funny French accent. Nice people who exchange information at the table in the morning. Fan on the ceiling, but also air conditioning. Clean towels and sheets every other day. Absolutely great. As a B&B should be.
Very friendly, nice and clean B&B in a quiet yet central location. Great roof terrace, very good breakfast and very friendly owner and helpful, attentive staff. We can only recommend it. Thank you very much Yoann Kind regards Bianca and Thomas Teuner
We spent a total of 5 nights at the rose, 3 at the start of our trip and 2 on our return.||The feeling of coming home at the end of the trip with breakfast with family, a real joy! Thanks to Yoann for his hospitality and all his wise advice, it was perfect! ||||Charlotte and Anthony
Excellent place to visit Cape Town. Ideally placed. Warm welcome, cool and friendly staff, impeccable rooms in two pretty little houses, one of which has a pleasant shared terrace.
Well located to be able to explore the city comfortably. The attention is incredible, and they provide facilities and recommendations of all kinds. Very cozy with a good breakfast included. |I would repeat without hesitation, highly recommended.
Our hosts take pleasure in welcoming and providing information. Ideally located to be able to visit the center on foot. Friendly and good breakfasts. All this contributed to a pleasant stay. We recommend.
Everything worked fine. Good rooms and above all very nice and helpful hosts/owners. Very good and fresh breakfast.
