Lovely guest house, Balbina goes out of her way to make it a second home. Great place to make your 'home-base' for a few days if you're touring the Robertson wine valley. Will be back!

Charming guesthouse in prime location in Robertson's suburbs. Easy drive to several famous wine estates like Van Loveren and Graham Beck and walking distance to cafes and restaurants. Wonderful and excellent breakfast.

What an incredible 5 days at Gubas De Hoek. Thank you for looking after my parents so wonderfully. 16 on White was amazing. We loved the feel and decor of the house reminding me of a family farmhouse. Kids loved their room. Breakfast was top notch! Thank you Balbina and Gunther!

The GH is idyllically located in the middle of a beautiful garden with a pool. The hosts Balbina and Gunther are very friendly and helpful. We were provided with lots of good tips about restaurants and activities. Beautiful rooms, very clean and lovingly furnished. Quiet at night. Very good pampering breakfast as desired. Village center can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes. Have stayed here several times and will definitely do so again next time! Thank you Balbina and Gunther

As always, it was wonderful with Balbina and Gunter. The rooms are furnished with a lot of love and we always enjoyed the delicious breakfast. The pool and garden are very well maintained and invite you to relax. We got a lot of tips from Balbina and were able to explore the area really well. We would be happy to come back and can definitely recommend the accommodation.

Very friendly welcome from the owner. The staff are also very attentive and helpful. Due to the central location in Robertson, many wineries can be reached quickly by car. There are also many shops and restaurants near the accommodation, but this also means that the noise of traffic can be heard.|Our room on the upper floor had a good view of the entire property and also of the neighboring properties. The area is densely built up, the property is optimally developed with parking, pool, terraces and garden. The furnishings in our room didn't exactly suit our taste, but since we were only here for two nights, that didn't really bother us.||

A perfect start to our vacation. We received a very warm welcome and were immediately provided with restaurant tips. Start the day with a perfect breakfast by the pool and a nice chat with our host. It can't be better. It's a shame that we were only able to stay here for one night while in transit. Longer next time. Our clear recommendation for GuBas de Hoek!

We had been given another room, which we had booked,||I have proof of this, our room was more of a warehouse of ugly furniture,||A terrible bed, mattress was rock hard, the duvets were child size, so you just was exposed,||The bathroom was tiny, you couldn't turn, it didn't look like much, more of a collection of different tiles and rusty mirrors.||We informed the lady of the house, but she had an answer to everything, and she felt offended, she said.||Then she should certainly realize that we should feel offended,||That she has the nerve to let guests sleep there, and also even for paying late, a hefty price for a miserable room.||The garden was not much better.||We saw the laundry hanging on the wire, the garden cloth on the breakfast corner, hanging in tears,||The tarpaulin for the The swimming pool seemed to have deteriorated, as did the roof behind the pool had also had its day,||What also strikes me is that there are only 3 reviews on her site, even recent ones, all of which give a 10,||Deception, I would say,... because no one cares a 10 for something like that,..||They will never see us again,||If you read the reviews on booking, there are some that also give a lot of negative points,||But the hostess is full of herself, and answers always with a smug answer.||She probably thinks that she is doing everything fantastically, and that the guests are not very wise.||Maybe she should realize that she is not doing well, and ask herself whether she should be in such a situation. wants to be received, and has to pay a lot for it.||She will never see us again||We have been coming to ZA for 8 years and have never seen anything like this...that says enough, right?😏🤷🏼‍♀️

very warm welcome and magnificent garden. The owners provide good advice for excursions and cellar visits. In addition, the owner speaks French. The breakfast is very good and the staff very pleasant. Our room was very large right in front of the pool.

Staff less professional, somewhat controlling upon receipt (it was assumed that we would have dinner at Gubas De Hoek; we were immediately asked if we wanted coffee or tea for breakfast the next day). Small swimming pool, less well maintained garden. Parking on site.

We arrived through the back door of the plot that was open due to the construction of the fence. we were received with doubts by one of the kitchen staff. he immediately wanted to help us to a table for dinner, which seemed a bit rude to us. the hostess of the plot happened to come out of a back door to say hello, but did not really give us the impression that she was a hostess. did not introduce herself or share any personality, which we think is quite unusual for a guest house. unfortunately the rooms had no air conditioning but did have ventilation. my parents had a room with a double bed and I had a room with a single bed, the other bed was unmade next to it, why not a double bed? Furthermore, we were kindly helped at the pool, but unfortunately we were not once asked if we wanted something to drink. the breakfast was okay, but did not convince us. we had a pleasant night's sleep in a clean room, but unfortunately nothing else really convinced us of a super good guest house with friendly staff. In our opinion, the styling of the building and the garden can be improved. grass not mowed, paths not swept.
