A beautiful venue that is neat and clean. Staff was very attentive to our needs. The food was delicious and the care and courtesy of the staff made my stay a pleasant one. Well done on an establishment that's comfortable and feels like a home away from home!

We had booked a weekend away as I had an unexpected accident and broke my knee bone, and after sitting in the house for 4 and half months I just needed that time with my husband and I found this gem Umthunzi Hotel the place is beautiful the staff are the most friendly type we arrived on friday night and decided to have supper there but all the food was finish our waiter his name was Bright made the kitchen make us a meal just to accommodate us, and the manger which I never got his name paid for our drinks 🍸. We got to our room and decided to have a bath only to find we had no water, we called the reception and guess who arrived to save the nite Mr Bright, thank url for a weekend I really needed. If there is anything I would suggest, improvement on would be the menu if there was a variety guess won't leave the hotel to have supper at other nearby pubs, cos the hotel has a bar it has a beautiful view but we had to leave and have lunch and supper at another nearby restaurant cos the menu is limited .......but other than that what a beautiful experience and a peaceful weekend thank u to Mr Bright and the Manager of Umthunzi Hotel, we look forward to our next trip. I recently stayed here for work for 3 nights. My stay at Umthunzi was very pleasant. The rooms are exceptionally clean and spacious. I would have likes for the lighting in the rooms to be brighter. In the room that I had, the light switch which connected to the fan was broken so I had to manually switch on and off using a chair to reach the string. Also the TV in my room was broken, everytime I tried switching it on, it would shift out of position. The TV's are very old and outdated and the clarity of the channels is poor. The staff were always warm and friendly. The hotel can be better equipped. I asked for a sewing kit however the one I was given did not have all the things in it and the hotel did not have any more. Also, the dinner needs to have more variety and include more seafood options in the buffet - I do not eat meat and over the course of 4 days, there was no fish on the buffet. The breakfast in the morning is decent with a good variety. The hot muffins in the morning were delicious. The hotel has stunning views of the ocean which is a plus and so relaxing after a long day at work.

I stayed at the Umthunzi Hotel with my Family in 2021 and I will highly recommend them any day. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and the Food was amazing 🤩! We had a beautiful Ocean View Family room and I will definitely be going back.

We arrived Friday 23/02/24, until our day we left Monday 26/02/24, we were welcomed at reception with smiling faces and we were informed of everything so nicely, the staff were wonderful, your buffet breakfast was amazing and your menu was very reasonable made us feel welcome and comfortable from the time we arrived becausewe we there to celebrate our 7th anniversary also our birthdays. Our waitress was superb i forgot her name, very friendly and very helpful, she attended to us with a smiling face at all times. The food, and atmosphere was amazing. Our room were cleaned at all times, and very comfortable, we had 3 very good night. At room 12 We will definitely recommend your hotel to our family and friends and we definitely come back there soon. Thank you for everything you Londiwe and Dumisani Gwala.

The staff was very helpful and beyond amazing, great location, awesome views from the restaurant and rooms. Cherry on top was the breakfast and when we were late we got a call to confirm if we will be joining breakfast. We also really appreciated the in Room spoils. Definitely recommend Umthunzi especially if you planning on having a wedding soon, it has great wedding facilities.

As a lodge owner myself, its always nice to experience a different hospitality establishment It was a lovely stay with a good breakfast and lovely ocean views despite the horrible weather. We were only there for one night but will definitely be back

Rooms are very beautiful however the closeness of the family rooms is not ideal, my kids were very uncomfortable by the adult 'sounds' that came from next door. If you can make the rooms sound proof especially where the kids stay.

I had a 3 day stay at Umthunzi what a wonderful experience I had it was my first time being booked there from the entrance at the reception desk with such friendly staff that ensured i check in hassle free it did not even take long Oh and the Devine food I had starting with lunch as I arrived midday the food was delicious along with the friendly waiters and waitresses When I entered my room it screamed freshness as I overlooked in the balcony the breeze 🥺❤️with a view of nature and trees the bathroom was exceptionally clean with enough towels soaps and utilities oh they ensured they clean the rooms and change towels everyday still with such friendly staff They have a clean pool that is both adult friendly and children friendly The star of my stay was the breakfast welll prepared breakfast that was delicious and you could wash it down with a nice and cold juice of your liking We had an event of which we booked the conference room and everything was also on par the staff ensured we have pen papers not leaving out the edibles 😍sweets and water What a great stay I had I will be visiting soon

Absolutely love this hotel. It was our first stay here, and it was amazing. Firstly, the view of the sea is breath-taking. Our room was big, spacious and very comfortable, which stepped out onto a huge balcony, and we had a sea view as well. The lounging area is the best place to be. It is very beautifully set up with the most spectacular views of the sea. The food was good, and well prepared. The hotel staff were very welcoming, and always served us with a smile. It does get a little noisy at night, but its manageable. Overall, we had an amazing experience staying at this hotel, and is one of the places we'll be going to often.

Very beautiful friendly staff, however the place needs elevators or lift if you forgot something in the car and you stay on the last floor. You are in for a bit of gym. Bit disappointed I was hoping to get sea viewing rooms. Overall nice place, delicious breakfast

I had a bad review regarding my room as I booked at Umthunzi for the second time due to their service but the managers and stuff heard my cry and made sure that my stay was well taken care of, thank you so much for the quick service and making sure that I'm comfortable in my stay...world class service Ngyabonga Kakhulu!!!!! I'm more than happy to come back again, Mlondi thank you as well in making sure that my voice was heard!

The room was quite disappointing. The cupboards had no handles so it was a struggle to open them. I was in one if the last rooms on the premise, the wifi did not stretch that far. Ultimately, I had no wifi for the duration of my stay. The location of the hotel is not too ideal, there's not much within walking distance. The ocean views from the room was good. Food served at dinner was incredible. I give the food 5/5 Some of the staff were friendly, others were unbothered and had attitude when spoken to. There is not sufficient parking on the premise either.

It was the best stay in Port shepstone (Emtetweni) so far for us. The apparent was spacious, cosy and clean with all the necessary appliances, meals&atmosphere, genuine smiles . What else do you need for a vacation ? Will definitely come back.

We realy enjoyed our stay, very clean rooms. The food is awesome and the staff super helpful and friendly. Some of our group had a broken tile and doorknob in their room and was immediately moved to an even better room. Nothing too much for the staff and the premises are very clean and maintained. I will for sure stay there again

Beautiful place and wonderful menu. The food can sometimes be disappointing (taste wise). When we enquired from the waiters we were advised there were different chefs for different shifts (we suspected this already). We were staying for a week so we at least got to taste the good chef's food.

This hotel is everything and more. Firstly the staff were surpurb. They were all so friendly and accommodating. I hope the hotel owners know they lucked out with their great staff onsite. The rooms were clean and all was working nicely during our stay. Plus the views were amazing from the room as well as the restaurant. I had to save the best for last, the food. Wow the amazing dinners we had. Such great, fresh and healthy dinners. It was so great going back to the hotel to have a home cooked meal after a long day on the road. Oh and we cant forget Thunzi, the mascot. Loved his/her cuddles. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

We were very disappointed with the hotel and facility. Lots of concrete, 35 stairs to the room without help with the suitcases. The Honeymoon Suite only consists of one room and is not a suite. The outside light on the stairs directly in front of the windows illuminated the room all night long. The breakfast room (we were the only guests) smelled very strongly of mold, the staff didn't understand English! We left after one night! There are much better things in the area!
