S. C.I chose The Catalyst for its location and, having experienced another of their hotels, because it is managed by Newmark.
The staff are attentive, well dressed and great at their jobs. They reacted quickly to a room change (due to our needing two beds), housekeeping and room service. The driver, Thomas, who took us in the shuttle to the Convention Centre had a lovely temperament and we enjoyed his company.
A few observations regarding our room;
- the hair dryer did not have a plug that could be accommodated in the outlets; fortunately I travel with an adapter so we were still able to use it.
- there are no extractor fans in the bathrooms, which steam up considerably after a hot shower.
- the phone in our room was not set to call housekeeping/room service etc. so it took us a few minutes to scroll through the phone history to make the calls.
- we stayed in 448 and had the full force of the kitchen extraction vent aimed at our balcony door. It came on in time for breakfast preparation and seemed to go off at 10pm. There will be other rooms in the wing we were in which will have the same issue; it is incredibly loud, even with the balcony door closed.
Despite the above, I would go back.
X. E.TRANSPORT Very bad service on transport services, The treatment is not equal, we were removed from a car by manager because the transport leaves in hourly intervals, but we leave as late as 30 minutes late when it's the hotel's miss-arrangment or non arrangement. We were removed in a car because it was not meant for us yet no car arranged for us as group
IRON, I reported the irons burning clothes in June but the same irons were still in use by October.

N. L.This was my first time staying at the catalyst and I must say I have found my home away from home. The whole hospitality team was so kind and the rooms are stunning and comfortable, I didn’t want to leave!

T. P.Attended a full day workshop at this venue. Dining area isn't very big so can be crowded and busy. Food was delicious along with desserts. Parking bays are small and cramped. Basement entrance is narrow, so large vehicle may have issues.
Some staff are friendly and accommodating.
I feel like this place has more to offer if they refine their guest relations focus.
Overall a nice place in the middle of Sandton.
M. S.Rooms were clean , location was some distance away from the shopping centre and needed a drive to reach there (hence, one star deducted) The hotel does provide a shuttle bus though. The porters and receptionist could smile more and be friendlier. But overall, still a pleasant experience.
M. M.Went for Sunday lunch with my other half, the staff was very welcoming. When asked what they would recommend, the pot belly came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. That crackling on top with the tenderised pork was very delicious. The dessert platter is a gem, that pistachio ice-cream with the baklava pastry. Worth a third visit.

Service is phenomenal, nothing is to much of an effort, breakfast meets all demands and expectation, the rooms wowowowowowow!!!!!!!! I stayed in an apartment style for my own comfort as I traveled for work and needed a place to work I am truly more than happy with the style, functionality, practicality and overall cleanliness of the room. Style is relaxing yet ultra stylish and modern. It has all the ammeneties you need for an apartment and reception is a call away for more coffee and tea on request. I am really enjoying my stay here and I like that it is around the corner from the busy Sandton city etc. I slept like a baby- my only complaint is I tried to work in bed but due to it being so comfortable couldn't resist wanting to doze off. Amazing. Thank you

D. B.We arrived very late in the evening. The hospitality staff were outstanding and accommodating. Loved our room. Very neat clean and comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance of Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton City and Gautrain station.

W. M.The hotel is clean and comfy. Tucked away on a quiet street in a nice neighborhood. I had read a negative review about their food, but I found all their food top notch. Staff were courteous and helped me plan a proposal to my girlfriend. There were some blackouts (a national issue) but the backup power always kicked in immediately and there was no interruption in the WiFi. They have a spa on the property. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the services there, and we got a complimentary jaccuzi treatment. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
L. P.Incredible apartments at very low prices. This is truly a must go to aparthotel ranking right up there with the Capitals - but at a fraction of the price. Be sure to request an apartment with a view if you would like to see the Leonardo close up and don't mind the noisy streets below, but if you prefer quite there are plenty of other apartments that are tucked away privately towards the inner enclaves of the aparthotel building. Decor is gorgeous with attention given to every piece of decor and furniture. The beds are like sleeping on a huge soft cloud. Very clean, with the most amazing shower gels and creams and beautifully laid out bathrooms. The restaurant is magnificent with the chef taking care of every little detail to make it a truly remarkable tasteful experience. Staff are very friendly and I will definitely go back again and again.

劉.Adv.: Big and comfortable bed. The gym here is equipped with the dumbbell weighted till 22.5kg, which is nice for a hotel. The furniture is new here.
Disadv.: The wall and door can't block noice outside. I encountered dripping air-condition, tho technician address this issue later. The room is a bit small.

My best moment ever was at the SANCTUARY SPA ,woow Micayla and her wonderful team did wonders....
my beautiful therapist FAITH put my body at ease by melting my tension away with her strong arms followed by with hot stones on my back. That was amazing.
On the other side my mum as it was her first time getting a massage from the Spa her therapist RU make sure that she enjoysit to the fullest and she's comfortable too.
Our mouth watering breakfast at the restaurant was super delicious and surprisingly Justin and Bongi organised a BIG slice of Cheese Cake with Strawberries to complete my breakfast.
A big thanks to everyone at the hotel and Spa for going an extra mile to make our stay unforgettable..

When we were given a room, we asked to change it, since we wanted a window that did not face the courtyard, but we were refused.
It turned out that the air conditioning in it also did not work.
I was terribly cold all week, I asked for something to eat, and they brought me a piece of cloth, one meter by one meter.
The windows from the bathroom face the corridor and you can hear absolutely everything that happens there.
At night there was a party with the neighbors, it was as if it was audible in our room, because for some reason there were doors in the wall to the next room.
The first day the room was cleaned at 10 a.m., we deliberately left afterwards so that the cleaning could be done, but we returned around 1:30 p.m. and the room had not yet been cleaned.
There is no buffet for breakfast, you can order 1 dish from the menu.
The food is not tasty, and the same dishes are prepared differently every day.
Pros: the hotel is new, the towels are clean, the room is well cleaned, there is a swimming pool, the gym is quite spacious.
