Second time at Southern Sun Hotel, exceptional service as always. From the moment you enter through the gates till you leave. Amazing reception and kitchen staff but Stanford Maswanganyi absolutely stood out. He serves with a smile, amazing aura, amazing person. Wishing him the very best in his career.

Set in the heart of Sandton, close to everything. Great service and facilities. Huge dining hall, 12 conference rooms, mini gym and a roof top bar with a swimming pool.

I asked twice to get my room service before 2pm. It didn't happen. Room service ,forgot honey and milk twice, every time I ordered tea. Shuttle, I was told to wait infront, which was wrong place. I suggest staff gets training.

What a friendly place to spend vacation in especially for our foreign visitors, the staff is friendly, place marvelously clean, food and drinks excellent. It's a money well spent accommodation.

Service okay but not great. Friendly staff. Room wasn't great either, air-con didn't work, bed wasn't made properly and the hotel was quite noisy at night. Breakfast was great though.

Stayed there this past weekend in Dec 2023. I really liked the room, very comfortable although I would have preferred a room with more sunlight if I want to laze indoors for most of the day. The pool area is decent (water was cold, which is great for an African summer I guess). The pool sink tap is dripping and needs some plumbing; a bit disappointed considering that housekeeping makes regular rounds there and could have reported this to maintenance (RSA is a water scarce country guys). Food menu is decent; breakfast is okay but please rid the area of the flies. Had the ribs and oxtail from the room service menu - Oxtail was well cooked but lacked flavour. QR code ticket to enter and exit the hotel doesn't work well and I had numerous debates with the security who seemingly don't know or understand this, but I expect that they should know not to debate with guests especially with respect to things that are not the guest fault! Would definitely recommend but warn future guests of the concerns raised above.

I so wish there is a DSTV , other than that, all is excellent, breakfast buffet is good. Heater didn't work as it was a little chilly at night.I like the idea of having an ironing board and an iron in the room, it makes it easy to prepare, big up to that 👍

Really cosy hotel with all the amenities one would need for a comfortable stay. Was pleasantly surprised to have gotten an upgrade on checkin as a rewards member. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The Superior king room was well sized and had a very comfortable & cosy feel to it. The bathroom was large and spacious with a his and hers basins. Breakfast was decent and had a good spread. There is a separate egg station for vegetarians/Halaal dietary requirements. Lovely coffee station and baked goodies. There is a good selection of cereals, yoghurts and fruits. There is a pool and gym but it was too cold to use 😅 One thing to note, you have to pay for parking at the hotel 🏨 All in all, very centrally located next to the Marc and literally down the road from Sandton city and the convention centre. Would definitely stay here again ⭐️

Great hotel, affordable pricing, good food - offers free breakfast. I think it’s strategical located, as most of my meetings were Sandton, so it was convenient. Moreover, I used the train from the airport, and it me directly to Sandton, then walked to the hotel, it was near by. This was Sandton, South Africa.

Central location with easy access from street. Rooms were good. Service requires some attention (1) My chronic medication were chucked in the trash during room service - there were 2 tablets left, so i assume they thought it was empty...nevertheless this caused some health constraints during my stay. Next time ask maybe? (2) Food at restaurant were good, took a bit longer than normal, but was worth the wait! Well done to the chef. The waiter however requires more training - also need to familiarise themselves with the menu a bit better. There were no drinks menu so you had to gues what you want akd they'll have to tell you if they have it or not. Easy suggestion would be to print a drinks menu. (3) Maybe install a parking validation machine to avoid having to walk to reception every time.

Good location. Near shopping malls n restaurants. With hourly trips to the Nelson Mandela square. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Rooms was neat n tidy. Food menu limited. On route for taxis, bus , uber n hotels chauffeur transport available.

Quiet and nice hotel. Wide variety of choices in the breakfast buffet including freshly made egg omelete. Efficient room service. However, the front desk staff is not as friendly as one would expect. When you are approaching them they first finish their talking and then they might give some time to you. Check out takes very long.

Stayed here for one night between flights. Great neighbourhood, friendly staff. Disappointed with the room though, air conditioning didn't work properly, so it was uncomfortably warm in the room.

We would like to highly recommend this hotel to all. Our luggage was misplaced on our flight into Johannesburg and we arrived with very little. The staff at the front desk, particularly Cherish and Amanda, could not be more helpful. They got us toiletries for immediate use. As well as keeping in contact with the airport- Finally finding our gear at the airport. They also arranged a taxi to be waiting to take me to the airport at 3am. What we did see of our room was good.

Grand looking lobby, with friendly staff. Conveniently located next to a new, albeit small mall, whilst only a 10 minute stroll to Nelson Mandela Square / Sandton Mall. Rooms are somewhat bare though.

A good hotel with a good location and connection by minibus to the Standton shopping center where we find many restaurants and shops. Phenomenal breakfast buffet and fast elevators (low waiting level). Thanks to all the people who assisted us from the reception to the restaurant.

Very safe place in Johannesburg. You can also get to a mall directly via the hotel. Rooms are a bit old, but clean and okay. However, the service leaves something to be desired. Neither when checking in, nor when eating in the restaurant or in general. The employees seem to be extremely unmotivated. Only 1-2 waiters were very attentive and friendly (unfortunately I can't remember their names). The food is average. The food at the buffet was lukewarm and the salads were very tasty. Had to stop over in Johannesburg for 1 night, so the hotel served its purpose.

Excellent hotel, security, service is all excellent, there is a swimming pool on the roof, but we were there in the winter and it didn’t work... There is a free shuttle from the hotel to the supermarket and back, we took it to the restaurant. There are fireplaces burning in the lobby.

This hotel offered an acceptable price for business travelers in the business package compared to the higher-class hotels in the surrounding area. ||The staff at the counter were very nice and also very competent. The room was very clean and well furnished, although a few accessories such as nice pictures or something African would have been nice. ||The staff in the breakfast room left something to be desired, apart from the very friendly and nice lady who prepared the fresh dishes. ||I couldn't actually recognize the so-called business center as such.||The nearby large shopping center can be reached in 10 - 15 minutes on foot and offers everything your heart desires. ||All in all, I would choose this hotel again.

Hotel and receptionists need renovation. |The window in our room was broken, so we couldn't close it. |The soap holder was all rusty and loose from the wall and the bed and bath linen were very old. |The receptionists were very rude and had little desire to work, it seemed like they were doing us a favor by serving us. |Simple questions like breakfast time and how to use the wifi, they answered rudely and with an ugly face. |If they are not happy, change jobs!|As for the girl who works at the tourist information desk, she deserves our respect, polite, calm, sweet, attentive, congratulations. |The boys who carry luggage are very polite and responsible. |The hotel provides a van that takes and picks you up, free of charge, to Nelson Mandela Square.

Very nice hotel, really quiet rooms and very comfortable beds. Room service is very cheap and of excellent quality, the staff is kind and competent, the area where it is located is also very convenient, in fact there is also a very large and complete shopping center five minutes away. At 200 meters there is also the Hilton where you can take the CitySightSeeing bus to take a tour of the city.

The hotel with its many rooms is ideal for an overnight stay during a tour of South Africa. Large clean rooms, quiet with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately there was a small drawback in the buffet at dinner, as some desserts in glasses were not sufficient and were not refilled upon request.
