Very well kept from the rooms to friendly staff! Always willing to help, assist, and step above and beyond with their service.
Photo is an ocean view from our room.
The chicken schnitzel to their beef sandwich and breakfast buffets or ideal. The rooms are spacious and the showers worked comfortably. I share this because I've found in past hotels specific areas lacking in one area or another. This place insured we would enjoy our stay as much as a hotel can manage.
Beautiful place and the atmosphere is amazing and safe
Would def stay there always … staff very friendly… I requested housekeeping to not spray took freshener in my room (no fragrance policy and lifestyle for health reasons/chemical sensitivity) and they obliged.. what an amazing experience
The reception service was very good.
Unfortunately I could not say the same about the buffet. It was one of the worst buffets I've had.
The meat was a bowl of bones, struggled to find meat.
The chicken was roughly chopped and not nice pieces.
The mixed vegetables were overcooked and tasteless.
The salad was OK except for the cold veggies that was tasteless.
The lady behind the carvery was very unfriendly and not helpful.
Nobody asked me if I was OK or wanted something to drink.
The coffee machine was off.
Please see this in a positive light to uplift the buffet to the standard of the rest of the hotel.
This hotel is the definition of luxury. It is exquisite. Extremely clean. High end furnishings. Beautiful views. Classy restaurant. This beachfront hotel is the best I've ever been to. The receptionist is professional. I highly recommend staying here if you have a deep pocket.
Attended an event, and it was fantastic. Friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful decor.
Hotel does not meet the standards of a 4 star hotel.
Size of room is satisfactory, bathroom is very small. Furniture is dated.
Cleaning is not very efficient.
Service is poor. No porter to assist with luggage.
Waited longer than an hour to get another bath towel as we were 2 people and only one towel was provided.
Aircon in the room does not work, however, a fan was provided.
Breakfast selection is minimal.
Location is excellent.
Giving a 4 star instead of 5 because the aircon has not been working. I stayed in the hotel end of February and again now in April and the aircon still didn't work! Otherwise everything else is just fine.
A great hotel, large rooms with great views on the sea facing side. Staff were friendly and meals were great. Only issue I had was that the bedside lamps did not work properly. Free efficient wifi was available. Has backup generator for loadshedding
Comfortable hotel but alchole drinks are too expensive.
Excellent location to stay in Port Elizabeth, friendly reception led by team of gentlemen was a brilliant experience. Keep up the good work, Bafuwethu.
Was there just for a night but happy that was the case. The room we stayed in had very uncomfortable furniture and I feel the space could have been better furnished, given the space.
The location of the hotel is absolutely amazing. The kitchen and reception staff were good. The worst serving was house keeping. There was a very rude old lady there who simply opened your room before you allow her to.... No greeting whatsoever.
Other than that our experience was amazing 😊
The best view in PE. When we walked in and went to the reception, I was immediately struck by two employees seated and casually chatting and not really motivated to assist. Maybe I don't know much about the hotel business but that did not seem welcoming.
I loved the hotel. Localization is great, breakfast and restaurant with diverse option and great staff. Large room, nice views. I recommend!
My first time staying at the Protea Marine Dr, Port Elizabeth was outstanding! The rooms were spacious, pristenely clean. Staff were outstanding. Was probably one of the most enjoyable stays and good value for money accommodation I've experienced in a long time. Will definitely recommend the family room lounge and little kitchenette.
Wouldn't mind a night again with my soon to be husband if the budget wasn't so tight but over all it is a wonderful place and would recommend it to any person.if I could rate it 20 stars I would
We stayed in a suite with a sea view, very spacious with a kitchenette, large lounge and 2 en suite bedrooms.
Breakfast was disappointing...lacked the variety that one usually finds at Southern Sun. Hotels...also didn't seem fresh.
No real swimming pool area, tiny splash pool , no sun loungers or chairs.or plants/ astroturf.
Clean hotel with a great location that is walking distance to grocery store, shopping and restaurants. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms are a nice size with large bathroom. The food at the hotel is very good. Several options, something for everyone! Overall a very nice waterfront location - I would stay here again!!!
The hotel has gone all out to ensure safety of guest against transmission of COVID 19,all precautionary measures are in place.
The staff is very friendly from the door up to hospitality. Best customer care..all the staff have a wonderful attitude keep it up
A top class 5 Star Establshment of High Class Style & Service Immaculate Rooms and Beautiful Location. BOOM !
We enjoyed a four day stay with my wife's birthday, from the first day we received excellent service, and I need to thank mrs. Gayapursat, who went the extra mile making my wife's birthday extra special. Then "master chef" Dumisani your food was delicious and we enjoyed every meal you prepared. Well done and thank you Protea Hotel Port Elizabeth.
I'd give them five-stars, but the light in the bathroom was terrible. I shaved by the braille method, and my wife had to use a writing desk and lamp to apply makeup. The De Keider restaurant though is first rate and not to be missed.
The place was clean though there was noise and understandable given there was a function.
Breakfast was the best😁 and the staff was friendly
Nice venue. Beautiful views. Catering could be better with a greater Vegetarian menu
Room was fabulous, staff friendly, buffet good and well worth the price, car to the airport on time. Strolled around the area, beech, shops etc. One night is enough to see all you need to see before moving on with the journey.
Beautiful rooms. Friendly staff ...
Special mention ... Leigh ... whom went over and above the call of duty to make our stay comfortable ...
Siyabulela for his customer service ...
Will definitely be back ...
We had very good service. The food was tasty and the staff very pleasant.
Excellent.
Big and clean room.
Breakfast great
Location perfect
Parking lot ok
Collaborators really polite and happy. Congratulations for the staff!
The service are amazing, very friendly staff, good food, as well as delicious coffee. Very clean and neat, with the best views over the ocean.
Rooms are good and the staff are super helpful . The dinner buffet could be better quality wise.. has some variety .. just disappointed a bit with the food
Stunning, beautiful place, the rooms are spacious and neat. The food was delicious and the staff very helpful and friendly
Staff truly makes you feel like family, clean and nice property. Always stay here for business but the amenities fit both business and leisure stays.
Had a nice stay at the Hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice view from the dinning hall and bar.
Felt at home.
Staff was absolutely amazing.
Will definitly recommend this Hotel.
Felt blessed and our stay was a blessing.
Really enjoyed my stay here, great place super services..will definitely visit again
Great hospitality and service
Just arrived here, staff so friendly, the place is very clean, rooms are big and their channels are more,so more to choose from
I enjoyed their delicate and delicious food as well as the service. Big ups👏👏
It's a great hotel but not for low budget
Aircon not working at the exhibition stands at the conference. It was incredibly hot.
Had a wonderful stay. Superb coffee overlooking the sea.
Front desk Housekeeping Room service they were all on top if their game!! Awesome stay here!!Siya Nolufefe n Team😎😎😎
Classy conference venue. Clean and neat. Food presented of high quality. Enjoyable experience.
The place is beautiful and food is to die for
Friendly environment and staff very conducive close to many amenities but the pool ☹ very small
Protea Hotel is situated along Kings beach, exquisite rooms, beautiful sea view through the bedroom windows
Great Pizza and wine evening at this hotel.
Keep up the good work
Had an awesome time with my colleagues celebrating farewell lunch for our dear colleague, Des. Way to go guys!
The place is peaceful except the housekeeping. Rooms are not yet cleaned at 16h30.
Super clean (smells fresh day in and day out) and friendly staff
A very immaculate place, with all amenities, closest to the beach, and Broadwalk mall.
Well Sammers Strand is My favorite Beach to go and relax in South Africa
Very neat, clean + tranquil. A very pleasant atmosphere.
The food was delicious the waiters can be more friendly though
stunning room treated like a queen.in fact i forgot i am not one.
Food was great. More meat variety would be nice.
Fantastic place, great view, amazing staff.
Clean friendly staff
Great service
Always come here for confrences and seminars. They are simply the best at service, coffee and views!
Very nice family hotel
Awesome hotel with great service and sea a sea view
Pretty good hotel on the beach in Port Elizabeth. Close to shops and bars on the beach.
Very nice hotel by the beach with beautiful rooms.
Adequate rooms and comfortable accommodation
It's provides the best food and accommodation
It's different but loved it....
Good place for conferencing. Good food
Stayed 1 night with a group tour. Room with a sea view with poorly sealed single-glazed windows (wind flew through) WiFi ok. Large impersonal hotel. Dinner buffet style. Fish and meat. Breakfast ok.|A few types of bread and croissants.|Service and clearing below par.|Rooftop swimming pool is a foot bath.
Average hotel. We had a very large room (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and even a living room with kitchenette) but anonymous and poorly heated. The girl at the reception very kind and efficient. We didn't have breakfast because we left very early in the morning. We had dinner in the room with good quality room service. We had asked for an alarm clock but they forgot...! If we hadn't brought ours too we would have missed the plane....|Overall I wouldn't go back.
Nothing to say.
The hotel is facing the sea, 2 steps from an immense free beach and just a few minutes by car from the city center.
New structure, therefore still well maintained.
The rooms are very spacious, on one level or even on 2 levels. All or almost all with balcony. Furniture and bed are of excellent workmanship. Fridge, microwave, kettle, water, tea, coffee. Clean and tidy bathroom. Shower and bathtub next to it. Hairdryer is necessary for washing. Double TV and good Wi-Fi in the room, even if there is a limit of 500 MB per day.
Reception, bar and restaurant are well maintained. Very good food quality.
They serve any type of alcohol.
Advise.
The hotel is fine, minor imperfections don't really bother you. The roof top pool could be a little larger, but is sufficient for a quick cool down after a long day at work.
Hotel located in front of the Indian Ocean, a little far from shops, but with a good quality restaurant, which although not part of the hotel is in the building next door. It has good quality wifi, minibar, air conditioning, hairdryer. They provide shampoo, soap and body moisturizer. The mattress was good while the other items that I usually evaluate were very good (cleanliness, comfort, lighting, ventilation, shower, cleanliness of bed and bath linen). The breakfast was well served, but without exaggeration. Although we had booked a twin room, the beds were pushed together, but we had no difficulty separating them, as the sheets were individual.
After staying in other Proteas (Cape Town and Stellenbosch) we expected more modern rooms and friendlier service. The expense is not worth the place, which in itself is not terrible, but certainly more suitable for lower budgets. The only really positive thing about the hotel is the nearby De Kelner restaurant, which is worth maximum Trip Advisor points!
We stayed with my wife for 3 nights. It is a good hotel that is located in front of the beach (you have to cross an avenue to enter it and the beach is average), the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the common parts are very well maintained. The location is good. The room they assigned us had a sea view and I think the rest did too.||In any case, in my opinion it is a hotel to stay between 1 and 3 nights, no more. Advisable.
Internet service is one of the worst I've ever seen in my life. I have stayed at this hotel a lot because it is what my company books. I've already given feedback to the manager, I've written letters, I've done everything and they don't improve. It really interferes with your business stay because you can't work. The rest of the hotel is very good.
A large Protea Marriott chain hotel, all modern comforts, wifi, air conditioning, lounge, mini pool on the roof. Located along the Summerstrand waterfront esplanade, walkable by day to Boardstrand, a mini Coronado-style shopping center with artificial lake. This changes after the ugliness of the city center with the highway in the foreground and interchanges. Evening buffet and decent breakfast. Mini outdoor pool
Good location and easy to find. Next to the beach and promenade. Also in that same building a good restaurant. With parking, although it is also easy to park in the area. The views from the room are the best, with unforgettable sunrises. Correct attention and service from the staff. Complete breakfasts, although less variety of cooked food and more variety of bread, cold cuts and fruits would be appreciated. Large beds.
A somewhat impersonal large hotel on the coastline. Upon arrival, the system for loading room badges appeared not to be working. So someone had to come from the hotel all evening to open the room door. It only turned out to be OK the next morning. We did have a spacious room with a sea view. Large and good double bed. TV, water and coffee/tea facilities in the room. No refrigerator. Bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Spacious enough but only for use by 1 person. Everything available in the bathroom. Dinner was buffet style. Plenty of choice and absolutely delicious. The drink prices are on the high side and problems with payment (perhaps because the computer system was down). Little knowledge of English by the people in the restaurant. Very nice breakfast buffet with all the trimmings. In addition to the hot dishes, fresh fruit, grains, etc., also delicious bread and the necessary appetizers (salmon, cheese, etc.). Good Wi-Fi throughout the hotel (without code).
Hotel located at the end of the seafront avenue close to restaurants. It is also attached to a very good restaurant called De Kelder. The reception at the hotel is good. No languages other than English. It's a very nice hotel. Majestic, clean, calm. Decoration... opulent but not stuffy.. The rooms are very good. The bathroom worthy of the name. Italian shower. Asked for the ocean view. More pleasant when you wake up. The nights are calm. Speaking of waking up, the breakfast is very generous. Very pleasant service. At your disposal, gym and swimming pool on the terrace (we would rather say jacuzzi). No room for 4 people... I haven't tried the restaurant yet. I dined at De Kelder for an average price of 370 rounds (double Cuba Libre included..) starter main course dessert... approx. 30 euros but the dishes are plentiful and very good. Coming back to the hotel, I recommend it but with a car...a little far from the center. But there is not much to see in Port Elizabeth apart from the elephant reserve located 1 hour away or the promenade by the ocean. The surroundings of the hotel are very well appointed and just on the other side of the avenue which is also very quiet.
