This hospital has amazing, caring staff who genuinely care about you. From when I was admitted to my discharge a week later, I was properly looked after and cared for. The building is not perfect, but the staff make up for it. You will not go wrong choosing Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.

My mother was placed in ICU for cardiac arrest just a month ago. Although the administrative procedures are quite slow and sometimes rude. The hospital staff and doctors took great care of her and she was released a week later with swelling in her body all reduced. Credit to the excellent doctors and caring nurses.

I am currently admitted at the hospital and the service is very good I must say. The only great disappointment is that after we did not have water on Monday and Tuesday, when the water returned there hasn't been a drop of warm water. Patience are unable to bath and shower and now in this cold weather it is unbearable to take old showers which I have been taking since Wednesday

Had my baby boy in this hospital on the 4th of March, oh man above anything else the cleanness wow, I was impressed honestly as for delivery ward and best service as well, yes some (one or two) of the nurses were somehow rude but the rest of the stuff were so nice, very patient and understanding. Well done Team Maxeke I'm so happy, I would recommend other preggies to go to this hospital for Delivery, I know how stressful/scary it can be to find the best government hospital for birth ✨️✨️✨️

I had the best possible care when I had cancer. The staff are so professional I knew them all by name they always make me feel at home. The hospital is clean and service to me was better than alot of private hospitals. Thank u radiology and Oncology for the best ever service. Doctor Natalie Irwin thank u and God bless you. All the staff are amazing. I can name all the staff but I just want to thank one and all. Keep up the good work we know it's not easy to please everyone. I never went into the hospital but I had a reason to contact them via email on behalf of a patient and was most impressed with the people that I had the honour of dealing with. They were quick to respond and very professional. I must say that I was taken aback by the excellent service I received from them. If only all government departments were as efficient and helpful as they were. Thank you Gladys for taking the time to respond to me and then passing my email onto the correct department. You're a star.

I would actually like to thank the staff of Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for their professional services, I have never been to any other Hospital but this 1 and not even once was I disappointed by the cleanness of the hospital or the patience of the staff staff. I have given birth 3 times in the same hospital and once was emergency C.section and till today my kids have never been sick. The most recent treatment humble me more as I was getting a miscarriage and the treatment I received made me forget about the painful or not dwell much on my miscarriage, casualty team and Gynecology team big up to you guys, I will always remember your doing , the changing of my pool of blood to cleaning I am really humbled especially cause you guys were cleaning the negligence of a private Dr

My first time visiting your hospital was a very humbling experience seeing soooo many sick patients puts life in perspective. When u think you have a problem and then you see others. Been in and out of the hospital cause of cervix cancer but everytime I get admitted at 196 the nurses and the sisters are awesome thy make you feel at home while you in pain lol...ladies thank you for being friendly and kind. ..Minenhle nyathi will see you soon as you call me your vampire...keep up the good professional work.

Thank you to all the Charlotte Maxeke staff ,from the front desk to the Doctors and the nurses ,theater staff.My son got injured while playing with friends,took him to the emergency at 2:00 am,all the staff were so friendly and helpful treated us with so much kindness,my child's surgery went so well,he's at home recovering well!Big ups!

Hospitals are never a fun place to be, so that's why I gave 3 stars instead of 4. Overall, though, it was nice to see a public hospital that is reasonably clean as well as nurses who don't have an attitude problem as compared to "Helen..."

It takes a really long time to get booked in. I was waiting for 3 weeks for a bed and now I have a bed I have have to wait for a week and half before my Operation can take place. Service is better than expected but get ready for a wait.

Friendly medical staff in the wards and excellent dr's couldn't ask for better service for my mother that went for surgery in ward 494 in the green block the staff treated my mother with atmost redpect and care. Thanks to all the nurses and doctors that helped with my mother. You're all heros.

I am very happy and satisfied with the assistance I received and the sense of urgency by the doctors. I got injured on Saturday, 5 days ago, rushed to the local health centre and waited for hours and hours to be attended to. I spent the whole night there and got help the next day, Sunday, at 3am. After my x-rays came back, I was referred to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, went there on the same night and was attended to immediately. They put a cast on my broken and dislocated arm, gave me meds and I went back home. Today I went for a check-up and I didnt even wait long, I was assisted and within an hour I was already on my way back home. Best public hospital 🙂

I had such great experiences with my dealings with the staff and doctors for my Nanny at this hospital! Renee and Wanda at Ward 164v - what a pleasure to deal with! Absolute starts... UNTIL dealing with VIOLET and Chikaroro at Ward 196D - oh my word - aggression and downright rudeness - absolutely disgusting! To be told I am calling them liars and shouting at me on the phone, this type of attitude is what gives these places a bad name - you should be ashamed of yourselves! Go spend a day with your colleagues at 164 and learn about customer service!
