Reviews of Cape-Ability Psychology Practice
Dani exceeded every expectation i had in every way. Her passion and commitment evident in what she does, my son immediately felt comfortable and she made us feel very welcome and at ease, her detailed assessment and feedback she provided is opening the doors for the assistance we will need. Even the recommendation of other professionals to help was amazing and appreciated as.it can all be very overwhelming. She never once made me feel that I was alone in this. As a parent it is a great feeling to know there are professionals out there like you.. thank you
Danielle is incredibly warm and accommodating. Her advice and recommendations are amazing and my daughter was so comfortable and happy from the start of her assessment. I would highly recommend Danielle.
A huge thank you to Danielle for all your help and patience with us as parents making us feel at ease and as for my son he felt so comfortable with you. We really appreciate you and your exclusive work you do... Highly recommend and really appreciate you. Once again thank you.
We are extremely happy, we stumbled across Danielle via a Google search. Danielle provided a welcoming environment, and my son accepted her without hesitation. Danielle is an exceptional professional and we would highly recommend her without a shade of a doubt.
We are so happy that we have crossed paths with Danielle who handled our son's Ed-Psych evaluation with the such care & the utmost professionalism. Her attention to detail, recommendations & continued support after the assessments have proven her to be one of the best in her field of educational psychology. We look forward to working with Danielle on our son's future academic journey & we highly recommend her to anyone seeking counsel with regards to their children's emotional & scholastic challenges. Danielle is absolutely fantastic!
We were referred to Danielle Douglas, at Cape-Ability Psychology Practice, by Dr. Birgit Schlegel, Paediatric Neurologist, for our Autistic 7 year old child's Ed-Psych Assessment and Report. We are incredibly grateful and fortunate for this, because of the history of disappointments experienced having our child assessed and placed in therapy prior to this.
Danielle assessed our child after a traumatic and short-lived stay at a non-regulated, independent school, having regression in toilet-habit, and anxiety around anything to do with a school-setting and meeting new people, as a result. Hence, we were not sure if a full assessment would be possible, yet Danielle's experienced, calm, manner won our child over, and she was able to conduct the assessment.
We found Danielle incredibly affordable, efficient, professional, well-connected, patient, and enormously helpful with follow-up recommendations. Having an older child with whom we had already been down this road with, we had experience with other good independent Educational Psychologists to compare with.
A lot of confidential, third-party information was shared by us, and we had no hesitation doing so, due to Danielle's impeccable impartiality, and trustworthiness.
Danielle and her husband Josh make a formidable psychology team, and we are immensely grateful to have met both of them. Josh, who too specializes in special learner education support, gave an enlightening presentation to us parents while our child was being assessed, and his composure and grounded nature instills calm in those he speaks with, which obviously must hugely benefit his learners. Josh was willing to go the extra mile, far beyond our expectations, to offer advice and support to us as a special needs family in a personal home-setting after the assessment.
Danielle's Ed-Psych Report is wonderfully comprehensive, yet easy to comprehend, and beautifully visual to relate to, with loads of recommendations to serve as a tool-kit for us and special needs therapists and educators to assist our child's learning journey going forward. Danielle explained her Report thoroughly in her feedback session with us parents afterwards, and substantiated and qualified her findings to provide further depth and understanding. She did not hesitate to patiently answer our questions, and promptly followed-up with further information later as promised.
Subsequent to meeting them, we discovered Danielle's passion for advocating for Autism extends beyond consultations and Ed-Psych reports, to having been invited more than once to speak on Autism on national live TV, and that Josh's background is from a family who educate and advocate for Autism, and they provide wonderful assistance and education through the presentations they do.
Whereas we had been shunted from pillar to post in the past, by inexperienced, yet exclusive psychology centers in the winelands, Danielle's superb efficiency assisted us immediately with getting our child assessed and registered on the WCED Special Education Needs system, for us to await due process.
We would highly recommend families to Danielle and Josh at 'Cape-Ability Psychology Practice' without hesitation; for anyone who has children with special education needs; who feel bewildered by the screening processes our children have to go through in order to be understood and catered for, whether in unregulated private independent special needs schools, or public government special education institutions; who are looking for a warm, caring, extremely professional and knowledgeable team with experience - two dynamic mental health professionals who are passionate about what they do; for an experience that leaves you feeling empowered, your child safe and content, and your child's needs supremely supported and cared for. In the best interests of our children, we need to be selective about the professionals we engage with on their behalf. We highly recommend Danielle Douglas and Cape-Ability Psychology Practice.
Thank you Danielle and Josh, with much appreciation from all us D's!
Danielle came highly recommend and she lived up to the hope. Our son felt so comfortable that it was easy for him to open up. As a result the assessment feedback was constructive, cost effective and with actionable plans. As parents we are happy to have meet Danielle. Parents from Sacsjr.
Danielle was very informative and made me feel at ease from the 1st moment we spoke. My son loved her light hearted and friendly personality. He found the sessions fun and easy to connect with her. Her feedback was valuable and reliable and the recommendations were good.
Danielle has been the absolute best since we met her. She made us feel at ease and our daughter loved the sessions with her. She is affordable, accommodating and very passionate about what she does. She constantly followed up with us and assisted us with getting our daughter into an appropriate school. I would recommend her to anyone.
As parents of a special needs child looking to move our son to a new, suitable school, we were a bit overwhelmed by the process involved. Fortunately we were able to find Danielle, who impressed us with her warmth, compassion and professionalism in assessing our son. It is clear that Danielle has a deep love for and dedication to the most vulnerable of children and we would recommend her highly to anyone who is looking for an educational psychologist.
Danielle was extremely calm and caring when assessing my son. Her room is setup to cater for children of all needs. I thought her assessment was fair and she was able to understand my son in the short time that she spent with him. Her assessment will prove invaluable in helping my son get the help that he needs in his schooling overseas.
I brought my son for an assessment with Dani and she was very kind, thorough and my son was very much at ease with her. So much so that he wanted to stay longer after the assessment was complete. Her rates are also quite reasonable. Would definitely recommend her to anyone.
Danielle was thorough with her assessments and was always patient with questions we had as parents. Thankfully we now know which areas we need to work on with our child. She really went above and beyond her duties and I would definitely recommend her.
Having been through the process before with another therapist, we more or less knew what the procedure was. However, meeting Danielle was different. She is amazing at putting you at ease and making you confident in what you are doing. My son, who is one the spectrum, was impressed with her from the get go and eager to fet involved!! Besides her professional manner what impressed me most was the comprehensive report we received. Thank you so much Danielle for taking the time to help us. I have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone who will listen!!!
Dani has been a great help in assessing my son's autism level and the report she gave on his character was accurate. Her manner with him was great, he enjoyed playing with her, and her continuous support provides me with comfort knowing that I have someone to turn to if I get stuck.
I was very nervous having our son assessed as he does respond well to new people and I was sure he would spend the time pushing the boundaries and an accurate assessment would not be achieved in just two visits. I need not have worried. Danielle was absolutely fantastic engaging with our son who is on the autism spectrum. She is so professional but also empathetic and totally engaging to your family environment. You will get a thorough assessment which will help guide you on the journey with your child.
Danielle was a pure savior in our journey with Autism/ADHD when we had got so lost where to place our son for school.
Both us as parents and most importantly our child on the spectrum had an instant click with Danielle. She totally understood and connect with the whole journey that we had been on.
Danielle helped with further diagnosis to give us a better picture on how to assist our child. While looking at the different recommendations after our sessions with Danielle, she kept on with further communication to assist us with any questions. She also advised our tutor on education methods while we were searching for a school.
We are now very happily placed at Centre for Play and Learning thanks to Danielle. We cannot thank her enough.
I am a teacher who used to head up the Learning Support at a private school in Cape Town. I have read many Ed-psych reports and I can honestly say Danielle is incredible; in her gentle delivery, manner and how she deals with children. Her reports are equally comprehensive. My son enjoyed his session, sound recommendations were provided and because of them he is thriving. Thank you!
Since my wife passed my son found it difficult to socialise and go out and meet people, since he has been with Danielle he has changed for the better. He has started eating various types of food where he would only eat chicken. He has even gone clubbing with his cousins and 2 weeks ago he has started working. I can only recommend Danielle as she is professional and truly has time for her patients. 10 out 10 thanks Danielle
Our boy was experiencing severe separation anxiety and we were at our wits end in trying to provide what he needed whilst still having to live life as a family. Meeting Dani literally saved us. Before starting our sessions, we had days and nights filled with tears and anxiety for our 5yo who suddenly could not bare to be away from us for even a moment. We were filled with anxiety ourselves, but he immediately felt comfortable being alone with her. He managed so beautifully and learned so many amazing life skills that will serve him and us well into the future. Dani, your professionalism, gentleness, knowledge and dedication is remarkable and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping our sweet boy navigate this time in his life and for restoring our family. We would not hesitate to return should the need arise. And we would recommend you to anyone who needs professional help with their children.
Our child was comfortable and parents as well. He was having fun and had no idea he was being assessed.
Very professional and the approach/outcome is amazing. We are so pleased with the overall results and experience. Danielle is fantastic.
Dani has been absolutely amazing with my son. He always looked forward to his sessions with her and I could see he was getting more and more confident with every session. She has helped him tremendously. Dani is such a warm and caring person and I would recommend her in a heartbeat.
As an adult (33) I approached Danielle for an assessment of myself.
Danielle went above and beyond to deliver a level of support unparalleled in her field. Her assessment was extremely diligent and professional. She provided an extremely comprehensive report followed by an in-depth explanation of the condition and how it may effect day to day life.
I highly recommend Cape-Ability Psychology Practice. 12/10
