As far as churches go Hillsong is quite different from what some people would perceive as normal. From a volunteer team that greats you with big smiles and friendly tones of voice, to the current members of church that do their best to make you feel welcome. It's also a great change of pace for the youth or anyone 35 and younger. Why that specific age group you may ask? Simply because of the functioning of the church. The church has a similar feel to a concert or a live music performance. If you've got photosensitive epilepsy then do not attend the church services for your own health's sake. The theater set up (due to the location once being an actual theater) as well as the dimming of lights make navigating your way to an available seat quite difficult. While the ushers do have flashlights to guide you in the event that you arrived mid service you may still find yourself stubbing your foot against the occasional chair leg. For most services, the sermon is usually brought via Skype and usually broadcast from the Capetown branch but occasionally one would hear the sermon brought from either the lead preacher of the Braamfontein location or any one of the other location preachers. If you're overly sensitive to noise then I do wonder how the praise and worship sessions will impact you as the noise level varies from service to service. It currently only has 2 services, the first starting at 10:00 A.M. and the second service begins at 11:30 A.M. when there aren't any unforseen delays. Hillsongs preachings usually center (Mind you that this is solely based off observations and not based off the words of the church or any leaders in the church or any public representatives of the church.) around knowing God through Christ Jesus as well as knowing how to live as a Christian in modern times. It also tries to preach on the character of God and how he sees, as revealed by scripture, certain acts and situations. All in all it may not be everyone's cup of tea but the Hillsong team more than makes up for it in enthusiasm and friendliness.

I had a blast. I was late to my church and I needed to hear from God. So staying home was not an option. I got there and was well received. They were so friendly and helpful. The music was what I needed, (Hillsong music always hits the mark). Oh my goodness, the Word. There was a visiting Pastor from. Portugal, he was so deep. He straight from the heart of God to me. It was like I was sitting and having a conversation with God himself. He spoke things that I had been talking to God about in my closet (Word in season). Truly the Word of God is current and relevant, alive and active sharper than any two edged sword. Thank You Lord. After service they sell some goodies outside. The hot beverages are amazing. I was a bit disturbed though that they don't use gloves to prepare and serve their food. One lady made the most amazing breakfast burger from scratch, with no gloves. The guy served me sausage rolls, he was so friendly, I felt bad refusing him. I don't think he noticed the shock on my face when he just took the sausage rolls and packaged them without gloves😳. Everyone else seemed to be fine with it, so maybe I'm just being petty or carnal. Next time I'll turn a blind eye or just don't buy and go eat at home. Which might be a problem since food and I have a beautiful relationship 😜 But all in all, gloves or no gloves, I had a blessed time

Amazing church, full of colour, love,and unity. This church is the best place to be. I joined Hillsong Jozi(Braamfontein) in March 2019 and I've been going every single Sunday because the experience has changed my life around. Thank you Hillsong Jozi.
